Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Wighton is a young, proven first grade standard player who would walk into the centres at our club. Yeah, why would we want him??

Maybe he wants fullback money though? Seems to be a common scenario these days.

Because he’s average, that’s why.

Opinion..?

As a couple of others have said…he started off as a centre and was a great defender. He is just what we need and also gives us some breathing space of Moses M gets hurt. Okay he is no Latrell but he is way better than what we have

Wighton at centre could even be Origin class there ..Yes..Fullback… nope...depends on the coin he's asking if Wicky has to pay some even better...

Don't really care what he did...the footy field is what matters...

Not sure how accurate but zero tackle has him on $750k a season. Wicky might stump up a bit to get rid of him..

750k a season for a poor fullback who might be facing jail time on the off chance he might go well at centre? I know it's cup day but dead set some people have been on the cans big time if that sounds like a sensible move.

whats everyone opinion on mahe?, should he be included in the squad next year? or should he go?

Reserve grader at best. Might go okay against a poor side, but good sides will have a day out against him

Someone on twitter is saying Wighton is coming to Concord with Hayne going to the Dragons and Dufty to the Raiders.

Wighton is a very good centre and defender. He also has very good pace. If he does come here, it would be a coup for our club.

Running down Turbo is a great feat.

Surprisingly solid defence…...

Apparently, Jack Wighton may be coming our way (rumour).

Can he play centre? He's tall, good in defence… Good get if true?

Also has a good head butt apparently.
:roll

I think he’d be an upgrade and handy as he is versatile. He’s certainly better than most of our recent signings imo.

I have always enjoyed watching Wighton play, tough as and a great ball runner. I would be very happy to have him on board but I thought Ricky was a big fan so would be surprised to see him let go.

Nothing new to add, I think he is the worst fullback in the NRL or close to it.
As a centre I'd take him.

If we buy him to play centre, does anyone know which side he plays? If it is the left side then I say take him. He runs good lines and the threat he and Rowdy will pose will be great. We will have two genuine targets who is a pretty solid defender as well.

Not sure about the off field stuff but it seems the way of the NRL to give second chances at other clubs.

Don't see where anyone said pay 750K for Wighton…

Might go well..better than any of our current options at centre and has represented there at City/Country Origin level..established NRL player more than hit and hope IMO..

It’s going back a ways but my memory of his early days was playing on the left, although Croker plays left so maybe my memory’s failing me…

Jack’s as dumb as a post and he’s the kind of guy that can have 7 handling errors on an off day…but he’s also tall, strong, fast, aggressive and hits hard. I’d take him over Hayne or Jed Bogan.
