Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Maybe all they have is $130k as maybe the rest is tied up in JAC and another mystery player(Grant,Burton Staines??)

Hence the effort to move garner on to free up some cash for him

Maybe but we have Reynolds and Packed gone and if next year. Just spread it over two years. Money wise we are doing a lot better since Maguire has come. Hel resign.

just remember they would be factoring in each year's money as a constantly evolving thing.

So reynolds and packers 1.5mill would probably allocated for 2022 already.

And a reduced cap

I hope we are looking for a cheap 3rd hooker in case Liddle and Simpkin get injured next year. Someone like Dani Levi has experience and no contract.

Mbye will probably be at 1 or 4 so can't be counted on as a backup.

We will be big movers in the player market for 2022. Turf Mbye the following year and another $900k presents itself.

We should be pushing for a 5-8 position in 2022 and similar/ better in 2023 if Madge is worth his salt.

What all the talk of lowball offers tells me, is that none of the Cleary clangers are moving on. The faint hope that one or even two of Cleary’s duds might find a new home has all but evaporated. It would appear that a large chunk of our cap will once again be sitting on the side line.....and you wonder why we never get above 9th

If they're not moving on I suspect Madge will be trying to find a way to get some game time from them. If they're here, we need to extract everything we can from them and hope they surprise us.

I can’t say that i am a fan of Huth , when was the last time he made a line break , or anytime for that matter , he is big enough to pull a bull out of the crap but don’t play anything like that

When was the last time any of our middle forwards made a line break outside of Aloiai?

McIntyre for a try off the bench in the middle

Heard anything on his re-signing?

No signing yet. They are offering peanuts at this stage
Less money than this year and he is only just above minimum wage at the moment .
So hopefully they can get something sorted because there are a couple of clubs keen as!

Cheers. Now, *this* would be a lowball offer. It makes no sense to bring this guy in and around the team only to offer him less. If we let him go Pascoe has lost me.

If Garner is off to Manly that may resolve the matter.

I hope so. Although I had hoped too that if he moved to Manly it would free up money to attract new talent to the club. Can't win them all.

this is just strange.... We seem to be very quite at the moment regarding recruitment when other clubs are starting to announce resigning etc... It has a real weird feeling and even the @The_Pom isn't around....
When does our 2021 preseason start does anyone know?

It is strange - even the media have stopped linking us with everyone off contract. Maybe because we "lowball" everyone we aren't seen as a viable option anymore.

I really hope that 'lowball' comment doesn't stick. The woman who wrote the article doesn't even understand the meaning of the word.

I think everyone needs to step back and have a real good think about the approach. Firstly management is hunting some sizable fish. Grant, JAC, Smith, and anyone else they can see as a big upgrade. So if that's the case you don't throw money at a young ok forward until the other contracts are done. He is not a priority tbh.

The second thing id like to add is first-year a lot of players do well and then get found out year 2. The list is endless. So your not throwing decent money at Sam.

Need to be patient i doubt anyone get signed until the finals are done.

Maybe ball boys or water runners. As for NRL standard footballers, those days are well past them. Benji was a mile in front of them and not many people don’t agree Benji’s day had come to a end

Walters will be third string hooker next year once he comes back. we're pretty much sorted for hookers whether Harry stays or not. our squad despite having some overpaid deadwood in Packer and Reynolds is pretty well balanced for next year. only place I'd say we're short is backrowers if Garner leaves, but he could be replaced by McIntyre, Simpkins or even a Papali'i.

don't put it past Doueihi to lock up the 6 in 2021 and we go into the market for other positions. he might be able to hold onto it until a player like Madden, Camroux or Tannous comes through. players like Burton and Schuster or even bigger fish like a Munster seem like a good idea, but we might have the answer to our halves already locked up.

I had forgotten about Walters, I think he will be out with his ACL injury for quite a while next year.

even still, I don't think we need to chase a 9 unless Harry's clause is enacted. Liddle did very well coming off an injury with no reserve grade and will be even better off a full preseason, and if the noises are true about Simpkin he could end up being a gem.

I have a lot of confidence in Liddle, his passing is seems slightly better than Grants and he is probably quicker.

I would still rather have Grant for his desire to win and determination but playing Liddle does not change our structure or game plan.
