Good to see in the paper that Josh Reynolds has made a few more million on investment properties and has apparently found a new love. Thus no need at all to take up UK SL offers..............

Just our luck.

All jokes aside, but him leaving would have changed our entire club and allowed two really good signings. He is entitled to his money, but now that the whole "great clubman" myth has been exposed it is going to be fairly galling watching him begrudgingly sit on the sidelines for another 12 months collecting his 700-800 grand.

He has been an absolute disastrous signing. By FAR our worst as he is going to ride out the whole four years...at least Blair jumped ship.

You’d do the same ..

To be honest...I would not. Not for four years. I'd have moved on after 3 and said 'thanks'. But he is entitled to ride it out, yes.

Yeah right ...
Why would you want to leave all your mates behind (and new mrs) to go to a covid riddled country ?

Fair enough, but I'd probably have wanted the challenge of playing again rather than sitting it out. "Hey, you owe me 800...give me half and I'll back myself to go test the market and get a gig somewhere else".

Either way, we are stuck with Josh, Packer and Mbye...

The official cap is 9.5 million...those three staying means we are playing with 7 million vs the rest of the NRL plus their 'contribution'. Mbye at least plays most games, but all three combined contribute probably 500 000 worth to the roster.

So, basically, we are playing with a 7.5 million dollar squad vs fully loaded teams.

Come November 1, we can start using Packer and Reynolds money elsewhere. There’s light at the end of the tunnel.

Have we ever signed a player from the Dogs that has turned out to be a great signing?

Tapau was, but our dumb coach let him go early

Yeah, hopefully 2022 onwards we get it right.

apparently Pearce may be back at roosters, rumour going around that rorters want him

then again there also was another rumour speaking of a Parra/ knights swap of Moses and Pearce

I posted this a few days ago and a few people had a crack at me for it.

I still think Jr Jr would be mad to leave the Knights.
And Knights would be mad to want Tanky McStank.

But it might eventuate, who knows. (And I don't think I had a crack you mate, I come here looking for rumours like that, I thank you, I lap it up mate!)

All good.

"He is entitled to his money, but now that the whole “great clubman” myth has been exposed'

Why has he been exposed....

Because he doesn't want to move on to England (who would)?
Because he wants the money he is entitles to?
Because he is ready to play any time Madge picks him?
Because he will play any position the clubs wants him to play?

Think you are being a tad harsh on him myself.

Nup...because he clearly isnt wanted by the club, but puts his own financial needs above that.
We will probably be his last paycheck,so most wld do the same...but at the end of the day its still all about him

Tedesco won a Rorters' award and Channel 10 news included him saying the Rorters are the best club in the world.

I read Papanhuyzen said the same thing about the Storm..

Blame Cleary not Reynolds.
Reynolds was asked to join our club, he came he’s had injuries and off field dramas and competition for his spot.......a few years ago we had a bloke(Mitch Moses)who was not playing all that well either and gave up on the team, he walked out on his contract and everyone still gives him grief about it, At least Reynolds gives it 100 percent every time he’s in the game, even if it’s not what you call value for money.
Fate is a funny thing, If Marshall did not return and Reynolds had 2 full seasons under his belt he might be playing out off his skin or he might not.
But you can’t blame a guy who’s been offered big dollars not to take it and see out his contract.

This is a gee up right, so he isn't allowed to collect his money, Grub would have played almost every week if the coach selected him, and in my opinion he should have

It's much worse than that. Less successful clubs have to pay more for in demand players, more successful clubs pay less.

I would like a draft but a less dramatic option would be to have an auction for off contract players, the player can still choose where they go but that club has to pay the winning price. If the bidding gets too high a club can pull out and the player can choose between the remaining clubs.

The player can sign with their current club before their contract expires on Nov 1 or chose to go to auction. The player could set the length of the contract, teams would have to have the salary cap space free to pay if the player took their offer. I am sure it would need to be fine tuned but it would make everyone's salary cap worth the same amount.

It could be a week long off-season event with players going to auction one at a time.
