Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Dont get the mansour hate.

He would be in the top 2 wingers in our club - delusional to think otherwise. At the right price and length of contract it's a REALISTIC signing for our club.

I agree. He's not JAC, but why should he be compared to JAC? JAC doesn't want to be here. Mansour would be on less money. He's a player with Origin and international experience. And he's not instead of youth, he's as well as youth.

If we're entertaining Mansour, it means Madge has zero confidence in AJ and Talau on the wing.

I don't blame him for that because AJ makes nearly 3 errors a game and Talau is not much better, with the lack of talent we have, we need to be able to hold the ball.

Mansour made 25 line breaks , 77 tackle busts and average 168 meters last year and brings experience and great attitude. Im not syaing we sign him for 5 years but 1 or 2 years he would more then do a job, would be cheap. Jimmy the Jet has lots of upside. These are better players then we have and we want our team to get better. On the left wing we had a 20 yr old who dropped the ball 8 times in 3 games and we don't think replacing him with Josh Mansour is an improvement.

Mbye
Mansour
Roberts
Leilua
Nofaluma
Douehi
Brooks

thats a much better backline then we fielded at any stage this year

Do you actually believe what you've written? Being a top two winger at our club is no great achievement. Get over cheap, it does not mean quality because in the long run it costs you on the field and also off it as the junior talent walks out the door.

No you're right, we should sign JAC.....

Better still we should just rely on youth (Brisbane)

With Brisbane they've had some bad results but the benefit is the experience the young players are getting. That's what we should be doing.

As it stands Brisbane will finish above us in 2021.

By bad result you mean they won the spoon.

They struggled because they brought in some guys before they were ready and didnt have sufficient leadership in their squad.

Hear me out here. I actually think Mansour could be a great bench forward. Wayne Bennett played Michael Hancock in a similar role late in his career.

It's about getting experience. Young Kepaoa scored two or three tries that Mansour and Nofoaluma couldn't through his pace. As. Gould wrote about Laurie, he has to learn in the NRL. The same with Kepaoa.

But they are getting experience. What purpose is served in playing a 30. year old winger that lacks pace and is a below average defender and pairng him with a winger with similar qualities?

No one is saying Mansour doesn’t have some positives to his game, but literally EVERY thing he does good on the footy field, Nofa does twice as good and he’s much younger

We don’t need another short slow winger with average defence who busts tackles and makes metres we need height, pace and try scoring ability.

Brooks, Tamou, Nofo, BJ, Mbye - plenty of experience. That's without including guys like Aloiai, Twal, LL, Liddle, Doueihi - who have been around for years and aren't overawed even if they haven't all racked up big numbers yet. I'm sure I've missed some too.

Wasn't it leaked a week or so ago that Mansour was the back up plan if we didn't get JAC? The club decided to soften the blow further by the Jimmy meeting. The Dane Laurie leak can only now be viewed as a sweetener?

Josh Mansour is a poor man's David Nofoaluma. Does basically the same thing but with way more defensive errors.

Roberts...meh. If he comes cheap, so be it.

Mansour is worse defensively than Nofo? Oh no, with some people's opinions on Nofa's defence on here, that could be disastrous. I'm not sure where I sit with Nofa's defence anymore, is it him or the team inside of him, or both, I don't know.

We have AJ for another 3 years I believe it is, and it seems like our youth (like Talau) could be seen as not quite ready also. Maybe experienced guys like Roberts/Mansour for 1 year (maybe 2, maybe) could help us ease them in. If that's the reasoning, I can understand that.

If Staines didn’t get injured i reckon Mansour would have been sitting on the sidelines ages ago. The fact he got turfed for next year and Staines re-signed probably reinforces that

I feel he would get found out massively if we signed him, playing in a red hot penrith team hid his liabilities

And yet when Penrith was pretty average, Mansour was getting picked for NSW and Australia.
