I heard rumors that the Chooks aren't satisfied with Crichton given what they're paying him

If reports re: what he’s on are correct (almost $1m) he’s definitely not worth it (can’t think of a forward that is worth that). But he’s still a hell of a player and an elite 2nd rower. Would make a material difference to our team both defensively and in attack. If we could somehow land him we shouldn’t hesitate.

Yeah just cause he’s on crazy money and not worth it doesn’t mean he’s not good. He’s an excellent forward - just needs to be at a more reasonable price.

He’s an elite player and a current origin rep that plays in a position where we are very weak. Not saying we could get him but man, he’d be one of our best signings in a long time. A current origin player in his prime.

I can only dream about signing a proper marquee signing like that. Been way too long, I’m praying we can get someone for 2022. Plenty of good players available surely we manage to get one of them

We have the money and he apparently has the relationship with Madge. It’s a realistic target, not pie in the sky like a Munster

The general consensus last year was that the forwards were looking good. I will reserve judgment but am a little optimistic

I;m hoping when i say this,but with 2 new hard heads in the forwards,this will give us the leadership we missed last year. Also many of these guys are young,and i expect with another year under their belt to improve .Papali is indicative of the old saying-forwards don;t peak to about 25.Big Artie took a while.

I would pay overs to land a current SOO Second rower in prime of his career.

He could be our missing piece of the puzzle.

Can live with Mbye at full back for a year as Widdop is past it. Was a great player but we are no longer a Superannuation club anymore.

Tamou looks like the leader we have been crying out for. Back to training early.

Dunno, but giving it’s only a week until Christmas my guess is after the New Year. Unless of course Nofo decides to give us a Christmas present !!! But then that’s only for 2022 and beyond.

I wouldn't hate if Roberts and/or Roberts-Davis were signed to 2nd tier contracts and a 1st grade spot or 2 left open if we need to promote someone as injury cover prior to June 30.

I thought i read somewhere on here that Roberts-Davis is on a train and trial with us.

Who is Roberts-Davis ?

Pawsandclaws has given a rundown on him - only mentioned him as someone suggested they would like to see him or tyrone roberts get a trial with the club. He was previously mentioned in this thread in the list as a player without a club.

At his best he is very good - but you only get to see his best every now and then. Definitely a player we could and should go after but not on huge dollars.

Agree, unless one of our own "Blore" or others jumps out of the box the pickings are slim.
Crighton, Mcinness, Fincunne, Yeo and Harris are top shelf but will be hard to remove from their current sides. More realistic and established players would be B Smith, Sironen, Sua, Capewell, Peachey, Fitzgibbon, who are all off contract next year.
That leads me to the players lacking opportunity / limited minutes players, ie Young, Niukora, Butcher x Brothers, J Curran Bunty Afoa and S Talakai.

Now for out of the box players C Watson, would cover full-back, hooker, and 5/8 and eventually to be a roving ball distributing lock. Injuries cruelled him last year, achilles I think, but this kid 24 years, 90kgs, and a threat with the ball. Could he handle the middle, he started 7 times at 9 for 80 minutes except once in 2019 for the Knights yes he can. Size/weight too small, anyone heard of Murray and Radley they go alright, he would only need to play 65min, covers hooker, "and still a threat" this allows Madge a different dimension to our bench. 2 years with a third in the club's favour at 500 with KPI's, worst case we have a much better version of Mybe sitting at 14 at half the price.
Cheaper than B Smith but would allow us to have cover before deciding which hooker going forward Liddle/Simpkin as I dont think we will able to keep both

Only 2 real centres,Jimmy who has a lean time of it,and we hope he shows the talent he has,and J lehlua who was less than impressive last year.The rest ? Doehie ,5/8,Momo ?winger.TTno one knows. Both of these centres don;t have contracts for next year. If you don;t think Staggs or Crichton would set the backline alight your kidding.

I would love Staggs or Chrichton here, no question, my original point was that immediately we have other priorities other than centre and whilst our props seem to be in good shame, we are short on good second rowers.
