Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

We have no marqee/star players except for possibly BJ. We have a moneyball team of decent players that should be competitive for 8th/9th in 2021.

Brooks has proven time after time he is not a first grade half back. It’s actually preventing marquee players from coming here, it’s make or break this year for him.

I think Liddell will have an injury free year as I’m confident with our physio s, weather he is a full time first grader
Remains to be seen.

Did JAC change his mind after he saw Brooks down at WT headquarters or something?

Packer, Reynolds, Matulino and Mbye were all considered “marquee” the time of the signings. They turned out to be hot dog water all of them, but they were still marquee at the time

So what players have we missed out on because of Luke? And don’t say Latrell, he was always going to souffs once roosters punted him

Lattrell said wanted south had proven halves in Reynolds and walker then looked at our lot and saw josh Reynolds brooks and benji and thought god no don’t blame him.

Do you actually believe that or is it your hidden agenda talking. What about when JAC signed with the dogs with no rated halves. Or the big name signings Titans made with ash Taylor as half

I’ve finally figured out why we can’t sign billy slater, Cameron smith, Cooper Cronk, Greg Inglis. It’s because of Luke Brooks

We offered lateral big money so yes I do believe it

considering 'anyone but Liddle' crowd' hate, imagine if we spent big$$ on the LM, and he was our FB for only a few games!

Certainly there is a big difference in what different people on here classify as Marquee players.

Personally I do not consider Packer, Reynolds, Matulino, Mbye and McInnes as Marquee players.

Possibly Latrine and JAC scrap into that category.

I consider the best of the best are Marquee players i.e. Cameron Smith, Cameron Munster, James Tedesco, Jason Taumalolo, Tyson Frizell, Angus Crichton etc. etc.

That is to say "Game Changers" - I do not consider people like Packer, Reynolds, Matulino, Mbye and McInnes as game changers.

It is a much bandied around word that is being cheapened by putting good players in the list but they are not great players. Just my opinion.

Packer, Reynolds, Matulino, Mbye were all unwanted at their clubs. They were paid big bucks and served up as an answer to cover up poor organisational development.
“If we can only get the team winning we will make the organisation look good.”
Should be..” If we develop into a good organisation we can produce a winning team.”
The clubs which understood that have been winning.
I heard LM tell bloke in the bar that he didn’t sign with us because the rest of the spine was not settled.

Which is understandable our team was pretty average and he would have pressure of being on big bucks.

Hopefully this year doueihi and our forward pack can fire.

Bit behind the times there Don - i'm 68 and i wear no see socks. But point taken on he will need to improve his game to fit in to our backline.

I just wear no undies

I could give you a full rundown on my preferences in clothes or no clothes sense but maybe that should be in another forum.

I wear 3 socks
One for each foot

Disclaimer some bloke on fb saying he’s heard Mbye is in negs to move back to Qld and we’re willing to pay some freight. Be nice if it was on the money but unless we get Laurie over the line we’d be a bit thin for a fullback.

Is that a size 5 or 6 sock for those feet?

What’s Mbye on? Something like $850k. I reckon we would have to carry at least $450k of that to get rid of him...

Honestly, unless something else changes I don't think we can afford to get rid of Mbye this off season.

Tough one, would be great for 2022 to have him off the books but for 2021 he’s our first choice fullback and we don’t have a replacement.

and our only player with experience at 5/8th, we would have massive holes if we let him go now.

If we can move mbye on it would free up a 4th roster spot so it would probably be worth us taking mansour on so penriff would also release Laurie (who we actually need). Would be a massive waste if we signed mansour for more than 2 years though (& he'd spend most of his time in reserves).
edit - unless we think that there's any realistic change of getting Chricton from them by not giving them an out for mansour's cap $$ - which is unlikely tbh

& with the upcoming rule changes McInness would actually be worth quite a bit to us as long as he was prepared to mainly play lock and fill in for hooker for maybe 15-25 mins per game. Pay him good money and his preference for hooker may just change slightly

Penrith and the Wests Tigers are reportedly on the verge of a player swap deal that will see local junior Zac Cini return to the foot of the Mountains.

Rising Panthers fullback Daine Laurie has already signed with the Tigers for 2022, but he could be at the club as early as next season if the swap deal goes ahead.

Channel Nine reports the arrangement could be finalised within days.

20-year-old Cini is an Australian schoolboy centre who played his junior football with Minchinbury.

The deal is set to boost both players’ chances of playing more first grade football in 2021 if it goes ahead.

Laurie is stuck behind Dylan Edwards at the Panthers and is likely to only be used as back-up next season.

Meanwhile the Panthers may find themselves in need of a centre next year should Brent Naden face time out of the game.

Naden was recently stood down by the NRL after returning a drug test that revealed he had cocaine in his system during the 2020 Grand Final

Ava Seumanufagai has been released by Leeds. I wonder if any NRL clubs will be interested:

If Madge agrees to this he obviously has a plan! Maybe this means we will take mansour just so we get Laurie? Or Possibly Milford swapped for mybe and Milford takes the 1. I don’t like both tbh. Let’s hope whatever happens it’s the best for tigers. So releasing him 2022 seems the best option.

Still remember the wrist slitting from some fans when we lost him, he never kicked on at all
