I don’t mind Hastings as I feel he’s a good replacement on Reynolds...however hell have too be happy with playing Reggie’s
Our depth spine would however be quite lethal
1.Laurie
6.Hastings
7.Madden
9.Simpkin

Slightly inexperienced spine.

For me Hastings signings (if true) is a no brainer.
We loose Reynolds and Walters all we have is a pretty big hole in the halves.
Inconsistent Brooks, untied Madden and Doueihi.
Hastings brings an experienced reasonably to low cost back up to the back line and perhaps hooker.
And don’t start with playing in the super league and being named man of steel in England is an easy gig. That’s just rubbish from hyped up Aussie league fans that believe they are the gods gift to rugby league world.

Hastings should play 9. He can make the 40 tackles a game required in that position. Liddle won't last the season and simpkin is way too young at 19 ..the kid needs time.

If Mbye is fullback then the team still needs a utility on the bench,Liddle won’t play 80 minutes you wouldn’t think and Simpkin will start in NSW cup,Hastings at 14 is my guess....to play 9 when Liddle gets a rest, and can backup Douehi and Brooks

Would not surprise me one bit if Simpkin debuts off the bench round 1 V Cbra

It would sure as hell, surprise me.

You're expecting Simpkin to start with Liddle bench?

Not even funny Avo - you know what I meant.

I can't see why Brooks,Doeihie and Liddle, would not start after rd 1 unless Madden kills it.Laurie if he learns the drill would be FB, if not mbye. These guys have been developing combinations for months.Simkin, Madden and Laurie are our future, and with luck will be in the side sooner then later, otherwise it's almost the slow 2020 backline. Hastings will be a backup, and like all of them will get his shot if he is good enough.

Well, all I have to say is Brooks played his best season under a coach that was agitating at every turn to get his son over to the club to play halfback.
#Just the tonic he needs!

Rangi Chase, Adrian Vowles, Dean Bell.....Men of Steel.

Goal kicker... man of steel winner i think

Utility... if we do get him i wont be disappointed

I agree,a handy signing and not a lot out there. He also covers a few positions that are prone to injury.

I still haven't seen anywhere outside the forum mention Hastings to us for this year

A few journos have talked about it, but only for 2022 onwards

Not a fan mate ?

With Liddles injury history , and the pace of the game these days I think most teams will carry 2 specialist dummy halves in their 17 . Also the Pom mentioned a couple weeks back that he is every chance of getting a bench spot (or atleast someone did)

Some bloke on FB just said it's 100% so I take it he's already on his way back to the UK.

If JH is coming can he also smuggle in an English forward? Preferably from the mould they used to make Gareth Ellis and John Bateman.
