I'm still on the fence about Doueihi .. there is something about him i just dont get .. or see what other people see in him .. i have him as just your average honest footballer .. nothing special. Sure he might will us a game here and there, but dont all players win you a game or two in their time.

I hope I'm wrong about him and he can be something special, but he just hasn't shown me any special yet .. :flushed:

The spiral bombs alone put him top of the halves queue

I'm amazed we didn't use them more often .....

I know I'm gonna cop all sort of crap talking about myself ....but I can still hit a conventional bomb from the inside of my right boot that will swing at least 10 metres from their original line ...far more if the wind is swirling around .....fullbacks sitting under Brooks bombs could close both eyes ...they don't move a muscle ....

Ok Happy. If they are so easy to take. Why did none of our backline contest any of them?
The were always put in the spot for their to be a challenge for the ball yet... nothing.

The majority of his bombs are from 40-50 mtrs out coming down inside the 10 mtr mark with no one competing for them.

Im like u.

In saying that, this will be his first year in FG at 6 so i am looking for something to build on in 2022 and beyond.

AD and Brooks needs to work for us to have any chance in 2021

Laurie will be ready to slip in as first grade five eigth if AD has difficulty with that position.

Signing suggestion, Dylan Brown.
Parramatta looked lost when Brown went down with injury. Still just a kid but he defends well, runs fast and strong, and has got a big bag of tricks. Would be a bit more achievable than getting Munster and im pretty sure is eligible for NZ.

Pretty sure he resigned with them last year for like 3 or 4 years

He is a very good player

But I'm sure he has extended with parra

He is tough and loves being involved

Parra certainly looks lost without him

Cry baby is totally stuffed without him

Brown in side parra do ok

Brown out parra absolutely no hope

It helps if you have 2 heads happy
You see the eyes in your right head look right
The eyes in you left head look left
So when you kick the ball and it shifts 6 inches to the left in the breeze it just appears to move 10 meters
But in reality it's just your eyes shifting focus from right to left

On a serious note
You see some AFL players kick with a deliberate swing back towards the goal
I can see the same technique being used in a spiral bomb to get that late swing away from the catcher
It is something our kickers should be working on
So I agree with you

Happy is making sense. We should train for spiral kicks and those harder to catch kicks.

That being said, "Two heads?" Are we hiring from Lucas Heights again?

I said many weeks ago, by rd 6, Brooks 7, Madden 6, Simken9.

I hope you are wrong because that would mean a disaster of a start. Going for 2 inexperienced debuts that early means a real shake up has happened. Especially if Laurie at 1 means madge has picked 3 guys to lead the team with only 1 game experience between them as of now.

I love this lack of “experience” everyone talks about. If the kids are talented enough, put them in. God, be a bit optimistic.

Hey it was the same with us and many teams.

Want to beat the cows, Isolate Thurston.
We hired Braith Anasta because Sheens recognised that Farah and Marshall were always the option to make stuff happen (not the right solution...but right problem).

Mitchell Moses, with Dylan Brown gives Parra options. If Parra are serious I expect a third rate playmaker in their squad to come up the ranks if these two go down.

Wasn't me being negative. Previous poster was the one changing half the spine by round 6.
You seem to think the kids should be given a run because of their talent. I think it would be better if they earnt the right to be in first grade. Not get it because they might be some sort of magic fix.
Until people earn the right to replace the incumbent by good form we are not doing the right thing by the young players. And I don’t think 5 Canterbury Cup games is enough to replace an incumbent unless the fg player is playing poorly along with the team

I think Doueihi will be fine at 5/8, i hope he spent some time during the off season perfecting the spiral bombs we saw towards the end of the year. Further more to that i hope Mbye has been underneath them all summer, i think hes a decent fullback not great or outstanding but thats one area of his game at the back he's lacking in.

for reasons unknown to me, Richards 'the king' of all long kicks, was/is(?) not used to teach our kickers (Brooks, Doueihi, Mbye, Marshall, and now Madden) his art of goal kicking and long kicks in general. Why not learn from the best?

Richards has been at training recently, so hopefully he is showing them.

Yeah i dunno mate it might be as simple as you've got a big boot ie Doueihi and Richards or you dont like Brooks and Mbye. Benji on his day could unload a spiral bomb but was inconsistent. Richards wasnt always a goal kicker certainly wasnt at Parra and im not sure about when he first came to us might have been something he grew into and became more comfortable with. Also there's one other thing he might not be a great teacher just a good student :joy:

Have you seen Brooks kick? He has a massive boot on him. Just his choices are ineffectually

Not when i was comparing him to Richards and Doueihi to a lesser extent, i will agree he is pretty good at the ineffectual end over end punts and bombs.

I remember an article once. Richards put his boot down to many years of soccer and said although there was some technique a lot of it couldn’t be taught as many footballers had different muscle memory etc.
