I'm still on the fence about Doueihi .. there is something about him i just dont get .. or see what other people see in him .. i have him as just your average honest footballer .. nothing special. Sure he might will us a game here and there, but dont all players win you a game or two in their time.

I hope I'm wrong about him and he can be something special, but he just hasn't shown me any special yet .. :flushed:

I know I'm gonna cop all sort of crap talking about myself ....but I can still hit a conventional bomb from the inside of my right boot that will swing at least 10 metres from their original line ...far more if the wind is swirling around .....fullbacks sitting under Brooks bombs could close both eyes ...they don't move a muscle ....

Ok Happy. If they are so easy to take. Why did none of our backline contest any of them?
The were always put in the spot for their to be a challenge for the ball yet... nothing.

I said many weeks ago, by rd 6, Brooks 7, Madden 6, Simken9.

I hope you are wrong because that would mean a disaster of a start. Going for 2 inexperienced debuts that early means a real shake up has happened. Especially if Laurie at 1 means madge has picked 3 guys to lead the team with only 1 game experience between them as of now.

I love this lack of “experience” everyone talks about. If the kids are talented enough, put them in. God, be a bit optimistic.

Wasn't me being negative. Previous poster was the one changing half the spine by round 6.
You seem to think the kids should be given a run because of their talent. I think it would be better if they earnt the right to be in first grade. Not get it because they might be some sort of magic fix.
Until people earn the right to replace the incumbent by good form we are not doing the right thing by the young players. And I don’t think 5 Canterbury Cup games is enough to replace an incumbent unless the fg player is playing poorly along with the team

I dont remember saying they shouldnt work hard to be in there. Pretty sure Madge isn’t going to let anyone just walk straight into a position.

How else to you get “experience” without playing first grade? They need to be blooded and allowed to play their natural game and follow their instinct. Confidence man. Not have skills coached out of them.

Plus it keeps everyone on their toes and means they have to perform.

Big and strong. Elusive but not super fast. Capable of throwing a bullet pass or torpedo bomb.

He must not have watched the game. Benj was his usual, side to side running, not engaging the defensive line when passing.
He threw 1 good pass, setting up a try and had ample chances to close the game with a win but didn't. Typical benji.
Tigers legend but had to go.

To me it's not as simple as he was terrible. His creativity was amazing. His defense was terrible. He has lost heaps of pace and zip and his running game isn't great. He also came up with heaps of really poor options at critical times.

Overall we needed to move on.

Club made the best decision moving forward.

Need to remember this decision was made end of last season when we still have Reynolds on books and on big money... Clearly most clubs agree with our decision as it took him months to get a deal from another club and the only reason Souths picked him up was to cover for there halves when SOO is on or injuries.
He still has what it takes in attack but he is just too inconstant and wants the winning play on every play.. I think he may do well with Souths as he will not be the big dog and over play his hand.. At Tigers I truly believe he thought he was TOP DOG and everything went through him and players like Brooks went into there shells.
I also think he was behind a lot of disharmony in the player ranks but time will tell

100% the right decision, but I reckon Madge knew he would be trying to get rid of Reynolds when he let Benji go and he is happy for both to go. LEaves us a bit short at 5/8 but worst case scenario, Mbye & Laurie are both better options than Reynolds and we are all hoping that AD is the man.

Don't know why you are getting so heavily down voted for asking question, but I think the alco's comment is wrong because it implies we have jumped the gun in axing a guy who could contribute.

Think of the old John West ad. Who you reject is just as important as who you sign. I think about how the Roosters let junior junior go. We need to see if Brooks and Doueihi can deliver, and Mbye and Laurie are floating around as next cabs off the rank with Madden/Hastings/someone else a medium term possibility while the next batch of kids grow up.

That picture doesn't need a disgruntled Benji hanging around crapping on the club from Lidcombe oval.

So the Roosters went Pearce to Cronk, sure, but they didn't keep a club legend around to warm the bench when he was clearly no longer first choice.

100% the right decision, but I reckon Madge knew he would be trying to get rid of Reynolds when he let Benji go and he is happy for both to go. LEaves us a bit short at 5/8 but worst case scenario, Mbye & Laurie are both better options than Reynolds and we are all hoping that AD is the man.

Agree, Madge had enough time to work out they both needed to go and we got lucky with Reynolds. I think we still have enough coverage in halves this year - Brooks, AD, Mybe, Madden, Laurie and Walters for later in the year if still on books. If we release Walters it sounds like we would get a replacement player anyway. With the new team we have I think Brooks will come into his own and also AD floating around will kill it also. Excited about our new pack

This was a very Ballsy decision. The Easy way to go is give him another year and possibly loose a youngster and further curb / Provide Excuses for Brooks non performance.

Benji is our past

AdamD and Jock Madden are quite capable and Im glad the club decided to give them time to improve in 2021.
