There has been impressive recruitment in the lower grades. Max Altus and Timanu Alexander are two new players, both Aust Schoolboy reps. Well done to those involved in recuitment. Alexander is described as a try scoring machine with speed which is always pleasing.

What age will they be in mate? Sounds good

Under 8’s but they have big futures.

Hahaha can't wait to see thek in first grade in 13 years!

We need to be patient and give Madge time. By 2035 he should have the squad he wants. No more excuses

Does a coach ever have the squad he wants ?
.... besides Trent Robinson!

I actually think Souths are far more suss with there cap at the moment. That backline would have to be over 5 mil by itself

Souths backline is a bit overrated Mitchell still hasn't find his feet Johnston been around a while now Gagai is 30 doesn't always perform at nrl level and Graham just seems to finish off trys nothing else really and Mansour last couple of years left than Walker and Reynolds both 30+

Yeah i tend to disagree. Mitchell was really starting to come good before his injury. As for the rest, they might be getting on but nobody is talking about them in 2022 or 2023, it's all about the now and as far as that goes there aren't too many better at the moment.

I was thinking the same thing. A fb still dealing with positional play. Ageing backline with the key 7 asking for retirement contract. A master coach with a reputation for leaving a club in tatters. The one thing they do have is that none of them want to be somewhere else. But I certainly wouldn’t lay down any hard earned on them making the GF.?

On paper I think it's one of the best looking teams. Their spine is super strong, their forwards are strong and they've got quality in the backline still I think. Johnston scores tries for fun, Graham is a young talent, Mansour is a consistent enough performer, gagai is the one who's a bit hot and cold

I expect most of the bottom 8 to improve with possibly Titans and WT the big movers. Panthers and Raiders to set the pace up front with Storm thereabouts, interested to see how Bellamy finishes the season without his on field coach and possibly in his final year? For the spoon race? I can’t seperate Sea Eagles and Dragons.

What? You haven’t mentioned their most experienced player? Something tells me he will get plenty of game time.

Easts are the side to beat, injuries to key players early in the year killed them. Storm still hard to beat, but the whole side revolved around C Smith for over 10 yrs, and their whole game will have to change now he is gone. A few of their forwards are getting on in age and with Bellyache and others moving on i see the slow demise of this side. Souths good but found wanting in the big games, and not much has changed only a year older. Mitchell can be great, but a slob who only plays in patches. Next a toss up between Raiders and Penrith. Tigers to finish 6th.

Im getting that vibe from the majority of our current squad.

Excluding the Ivan reminent, Madge and the Tigers leadership are finally building the culture that we have wanted for our club.

There's size, speed, amix if speculative recruits, competition for positions and most of all some fun.

This year is for me the most important in recent history.

With a bit of luck, If things go well then we can ditch the reputation that has plagued us i. Recent years.

Yeh Souths are absolutely stacked this year. A grand final would be their minimum expectation.

But who do you go for in a Souths Penrith grand final

Thats easy.

I hate Ivan Cleary, Souths 10000%

Sounds like Edene Gebbie is finally on his way to Australia. Posting 'back to work' and 'god look after my family until I get back' on his Facebook. I guess with covid it would've been difficult to get it all approved

Seems Jackson Hastings still hasnt got on a plane.

Interesting

Im guessing Hastings wld luv to sign on with a NRL Club...probably feels hes earnt his stripes in UK....and sees the $$ offered to established but ordinary 7s(Hunt,Taylor,Moses,Brooks,Croft)and figures hes worth similiar $$$.
The other complication is a transfer fee, which he needs to pay....it just makes him more expensive
Unfortunately hes still unproven in NRL,and to get anywhere near what hes looking for he needs to go to a club that doesnt already have a quality no7....or at least paying for one(like WTs).All clubs have their 7s locked in for 2021,so hes left this season too late or take back up $$ for this year and prove himself

I heard on radio somewhere this week that Hastings and the Tigers see a good future together, yet Wigan have not entertained a release for him.

The Tigers have now backed off until something changes from their end.

I think until UK can settle the covid19 scene down there wont be many players willing to trade places....

I hope so...hes the only no7 available of some quality IMO,and Id like to see him with us at 6 or 7 sooner rather than later.
Theres a $200k(Uk Pounds?)transfer fee if we get him this year ,which we prefer not to pay rite now
Figure hes worth max $500 atm as NRL unproven....but if hes as good as HE thinks he is,he shld back himself and sign a 2 year contract and take a chunk of the transfer fee himself this year and take his chances on 2023

I don't think panthers will make the gf this year they will make the 8 though. Last year they had an amazing run when the comp started back up but that won't happen this year and a lot of their youngsters will be in their second year so a lot of teams will know what to expect from them

Agree, we’ve had a high roster turnover , around 14 players. The Biggest impact will be the loss of Benji, in a positive way of course. I didn’t like losing Moma, but we are flush with centres, particularly if Doueihi has to move there. WT recruitment has been very sound with a stronger, more experienced pack which will hold its own, and releasing the shackles on Brooks to give good service to a speedy backline. I won’t be surprised if this squad exceeds expectations.

Most pundits in the media and other fans rate this Tigers team as a bottom 4 squad.

They dont see what Madge is creating beneath the surface as we do.

2021 is gonna be a big step forward if we can get through the first 4 rounds ok.

I think we must be rated bottom 4 and I think we can beat that by a margin. We need heaps of players though to play to their best and not their worst.

We have had worse teams on paper before and have finished 9th - with worse coaching usually.

I think we can sneak into the 8 provided all the 50/50 players (Leilua, Roberts, Brooks, Joffa etc.) fire
