What do you base this statement on? Madden looked poor in both the Trial as well as Rd1 of NSW cup. What makes you think playing NRL would change that?

I’ve watched him play NSW Cup all 2019, he is an unspectacular, conventional halfback with a great short kicking game....

I'm just making the comment now, if something does happen with Adam Reynolds at Tigers, I think it might end very badly. I can't say exactly why but I have a strong feeling his goose is cooked. He often looks injured. He gets a lot of defensive traffic.

He's zero line break assists or try assists so far 2021. In two floggings Brooks has 1 of each.

Reynolds 2020 was 8 try assists in 23 matches, 331 tackles made and 51 missed. It's not great reading. He does his job but where does the attacking flair then come from?

I think there's a very clear reason Souths are only interested in a short-term deal, and I don't think it's because they have the next Luke Keary coming through the juniors.

His stats are like that because he's a proper first receiver, Latrell and Walker are the main attacking weapons close to the line. Reynolds is the guy who organises it all and gets them down there with his kicking game. Hes also a top class goal kicker.

OK cool are we also signing Latrell and Cody to come as a package?

We've got attacking weapons of our own, problem is we've struggled to use them because brooks is a simpleton

Fair enough, you have watched him play a lot more than me, Ive watched 2 games. Mind you they are his most recent (almost) games. Its the same argument as Brooks, teh 2018 Halfback of the year and leading in forced drop outs.

I personally would like to see Madden tear up in NSW before he gets a gig in firsts.

Nah 800k per year. The media seem to indicate Souths offer is 700k for 1 year. Who knows what is reality though.

Madden just emerged from the development list so it will take time to see how he develops with experience.
Some people on here have too high expectations for some of our younger brigade players.
With a mostly young, inexperienced squad like we are building from its just going to have to be patient.

If not Reynolds then who? Certainly can't be brooks for the next couple years. There's no better halfback available for next season

I agree with those who aren't so keen on Reynolds. He looks pretty average when the rabbits aren't playing well and I think he'd be an almost unplayable liability defensively if we continue as we are going. A few years ago I thought he looked done, very predictable in attack. He's obviously been in much better form lately and he is a quality player for Souths, I'm just not sure that we're one quality halfback away from competing. Our defense is rubbish and while our forwards do a job, I don't think they are particularly menacing or problematic to teams we play. If we could learn to defend as a team then a player like Reynolds would slot in really well, as it is it might even compound our mess. We're obviously in desperate need of someone with a kicking game like his, I'm just not sure that at his age he's the right fit for us.

Agree totally with this. As long as we have existed (and even longer), there has always been a buzz about that young kid who, if he could just get a go, would be the messiah.

Names like

Shane Dunley, Ben Black, Ben Jefferies, Adam Tippett, Kieren Kerr, Blake Lazarus, Jacob Miller, Tom Humble, Jacob Miller, Jack Littlejohn, Tyson Gamble.

Will Madden be on this list? Of talked up reggies who never made it and didnt kick on even at other clubs?

Or will he be on the list of Brooks, Moses, Moltzen, Blake Austin, who were hyped but at least made it as a regular NRL half?

Ive seen nothing so far that takes him off the first list, hope Im wrong.
