Is there a reason we have been so quiet in the player market recently?
I assume there is cap room.
Many other teams are making moves.
Are we targeting specific players or are we being over looked?
It's pretty clear we need some upgrades/depth.

I would assume waiting for the right type of player at the right price. There's definitely a need for outside backs and an edge backrower. We have plenty of depth at Prop, hooker options seem set, full back set and for the most part for now I'd say halves are set.

We will never get the right type of player for the right price when other teams are trumping our offer over or under the table
We must pay overs for one or two players
Players like Brandon Smith and Adam Reynolds
Get those two and others will follow as other players will start to see that we are building a good team
These two players would be draw cards

It didn't work out that way when we signed Josh Reynolds and Moses Mbye.

The key is not so much how much you pay but who you pay it to
Now would you rather pay say $500,000 For Hastings or Say $800,000 for Brandon Smith
Brandon Smith I believe would be a far superior player in the Nrl
Hastings could be a flop
$300,000 cheaper but what is the point of saving $300,000 if he is useless
With Brandon, we can all see what we are getting
A player who likes to get his hands dirty down in the trenches

Who's talking $500k for Hastings?

It's a hypothetical?

Oh right. You could have made it realistic then. $800 for the cheese and $250 for Hastings maybe.

You're delusional if you think Hastings would come to us for less than 450k

Really? What would he be on there?

According to reports he’s on $1m per season at Wigan.

That seems a lot

Interesting karmichaek Hunt is allowed back in the game for drug charges and Israel Folau is probably still going to be knocked back at getting a contract.

Difference is that Folau refuses to say he will not stop speaking out. He didnt get cancelled for his comments. He got cancelled for refusing to agree to the rules set by the governing bodies.

Hunt has said he wont do it again.

Hunt was slinging yayo.... Folau was quoting his invisible friend.

This is the epitome of cancel culture...

100% just like Bluey now not being diverse enough
Bash people come on back to the nrl
sell drugs come on back to the nrl
#Cancel Culture

Hi Jedi if speaking up with actions against someone with influence promoting hate against someone who is a homosexual I need to sign up to this culture.

he has not spoken out in a long time and he said he would not when he signed with Catalan and has not.
Threaten people with violence like Some players hey no problem come on back

I think they all shouldn’t have been allowed back . But say what you will about Matt Lodge , as bad as it is to say , the reason he was allowed back was because he didn’t have the profile of Carney , Barba , Folau . Even though what he did was all kinds of horrendous . Plus it was the broncos advocating for him . And I think that gets lost in the shuffle , as the power they , and the roosters , wield in this competition.

All of them are horrible humans ,( maybe not carney , he just seems loose on the turps , no more than any mate you’ve got in your friendship circle ) the rest however should all have been banned . Like how is a Barba allowed to play in the US ?

Naden does not fit my profile of a good signing unless he is on very little money. If we are paying him anything greater than $350k per season it would be a no from me. If we have to make him in our top half of high paid players then we are screwing ourselves long term strategically.

Yeah i'm not a big fan of Naden

If we could get him immediately then ok, we need immediate reinforcements out wide. Sign him on an 18 month contract at 200k with a club option for another year at 300k. That's all he deserves.

He's unproven and with a lot of off field issues. He's not exactly significantly better than what we have now, we can't afford to give long contracts to players who are 50/50 chances of mostly playing nsw cup. He's got to prove himself otherwise he'll be here for the cushy job

Tigers seem to be developing a fairly strong indigenous connection across the various grades. Naden may fit right in and feel at home with a heap of fellow indigenous players around him. No doubt the bloke has talent however definitely needs to stay off the bags, especially the night before a game. If he came reasonably cheap then he's not the worst signing.

Here we go again - signing a player who really could be another one who just chews up a space with off field issues etc, and far from being a fait accompli successful purchase - in other words just high risk. I wouldn't go near him.

It seems to me we are just clutching at straws yet again and if we had played the longer game a few seasons ago we might have been reaping greater rewards now.

Sorry mate, but there ain’t too many decent players putting there hands up to come here, unless of course you have someone available, small steps will lead to bigger ones.

Lachlan Ilias' contract is up for renewal from what I read at Souths. Rather than signing Hastings, I'd bring Ilias back to WTs. Last time I watched him he was very good.

is he one of our juniors?

Who's talking $500k for Hastings?

It's a hypothetical?

Oh right. You could have made it realistic then. $800 for the cheese and $250 for Hastings maybe.

You're delusional if you think Hastings would come to us for less than 450k

Really? What would he be on there?

According to reports he’s on $1m per season at Wigan.

That seems a lot

We wouldn’t be coming close to that.

Yeah Paws mentioned in another thread he was. However the fact his manager is one B. Anasta doesn’t help his chances in coming back to us I would think :|

Walters unlikely to be here so might be worth looking at as a replacement. Anasta could then get him an strapping and Gatorade sponsor ?

Isn't one of the main reasons South's are prepared to lose Reynolds because they have Illias and Blake Taffe coming through and want to retain them

I cant see that being true. The Salary Cap for each team is $3.8M. I realise he is a marquee exemption but no way he is getting a quarter of that. Particularly as when he left the NRL he was unwanted by anyone.

Pretty sure Folau signed the contract with Catalans on the proviso he would not cause a similar stir...

Does anyone read the facts anymore or is it just a pile on?

"I'm a proud Christian, my beliefs are personal, my intention is not to hurt anyone **and I will not be making further public comment about them,**" he said.

He did the same thing for ARU and then broke his promise.

Yeah, his named halfback in the cup game this afternoon which is on Fox. Be interesting to see how the young bunnies halves go.

Ilias was pretty average today.
