Toby Rudolf is off contract? Tigers should be all over that. He's a great lock in the Nathan Brown mould.

Staying with Sharks I hear. Strong player.

No we are getting the big boofy bloke with the 2040 tattoo

I hope not.

No not that one ...the other one

Responding to earlier mocking of Cowboys signing Townsend: Why are people critical of Townsend? I think he's better than Brooks, surprised people think differently. He has a consistent kicking game, is an organising half and is a good goal kicker. You can absolutely rely on his play. I think he's not a great runner, but he is a proper halfback and I'd pick him before a player like Mitchell Moses (despite Moses having a lot more flair). What weakness am I not seeing?

The Chad signing is up there with Mbye and Reynolds. Don’t confuse a very strong Sharks attacking lineup with the halfback. He misses key tackles and the Sharks fans are dancing in the streets. It’s the reverse with Brooks he has more talent but plays in an inferior team

on NRL 360 They reported that Naden had dinner with Barrett last night, apparantly the Bulldogs are keen, must have an endless money pitt of money

According to Pom post we have an agreement but if nothing is signed and Naden’s management are still playing games like Mitchell and JAC did .... then see ya later.
The guy is just an average player anyway.
Let’s just not waste oxygen on crap some of these managers go on with.

We definately are a weird bunch when it comes to recruitment. Players only have a few reason to leave a club imo.
Club stability
Issues at the club
Pathway blocked
Big money
Emotional link ie family, coach etc
Title

This literally means that it's damn near impossible to drag a player out of a good environment with out some super incentives.

Where does that leave us, we have been a basket case but that is settling, we aren't over spending, we lack emotional links and we aren't pushing for a title.

Pretty much means we need to roll the dice a little. We have done that poorly in the past and are doing it better now I relation to contracts in our favour.

Guys like bj, jtj, joffa, douhei, Laurie and now Hastings are worth the roll. Hasting has been vetoed at other clubs which gives us a better in. He has performed well above expectations overseas. None of us know his current character. But performance on the field has been excellent in a scarce position.

A friend in a very high nrl position explained why Townsend was a huge get for the cows. Basically there are in his eyes a handful of solid consistent halves in the comp and EVERYONE is watching them. When they hit the market they get overs but are actually worth every penny. He expects reynolds to get crazy money considerably higher then the Chad.

The game plan is to pair seasoned with potential and model. The good clubs do this. Think souths, Melbourne, Brisbane until recently even nq.

No matter what people believe the halves have been our biggest issue since Scott Prince and remain to be so. So we gamble we take risks lets hope one comes off.

Good post ....

Agree .... if fact I think he has more to offer than Brown.

Agree he is a good half ..... but his defence is bit suspect.

If Sharks are letting go Townsend and Johnson, who are their halves going to be? Moylan? HA!

Think they are aiming at Reynolds.

Risky if they don't have a back-up plan, because yes Reynolds would be good, but they might not get him.

People are kidding themselves if they think Hastings will play halfback over brooks. The bloke played a about 15 games for the roosters in the halves and guess what they came 14th that year.

He’s a depth signing that will play Lock of the bench. I see him being more effective at lock than halfback anyways. Just like what mybe has done in a few games but much cheaper.

Oh yeah lets sign TPJ! Another guy from a terrible club who is notoriously inconsistent and has a bad attitude.

Hello Tigers fans, we aren't coached by Craig Bellamy

Watched a game couple weeks ago TPJ did one hitup in 5 sets, we can do better than him

People see the great try he scored against the Panthers and think that's what you get every game. Bloke would be worse than Blair if he came here

He was 21 when he left the Roosters. Do you honestly believe he couldn’t have improved in the past 4 years and 80 odd games?

Additionally, if Brooks can’t be blamed for the Tigers not making the 8 you can’t blame Hastings either. Can’t have your cake and eat it too

He was playing angry , because he got a rocket from Walters . He’s been lazy and ineffective , outside of throwing the occasional half for six , or palming off the odd centre .

He strikes me as an arrogant , narcissistic flog , who only lifts when someone starts tearing away at his ego foundation , kind of like “yea I’m the man “ . And once he gets that validation , he returns to mediocrity , until the next person challenges him . He’d never come here , Madge would crumble his very existence , and any player with a brain , and that kind of fragile ego , would know it.

I agree Brooks is better. But you are comparing a bloke who was a baby when he played those 15 games to a bloke who is 26 and played 150 odd. Not really a fair comparison.

How do we know Brooks is better? I’m not saying I think Hastings IS better, but there’s really no way to know until he gets here. Brooks hasn’t exactly been setting the world on fire. His performances the last two games have been adequate imo. I’m sure he’s been signed as lock but there is no doubt he’ll have his sights on the 7.

We don't know. It's mine and obviously @TigerBlood93 opinion that he is. Not quite sure what it is you're getting at. I already said it's unfair to compare the two based on 15 games when Hastings was a kid.

Sorry, I wasn’t having a dig at you. I guess I was just saying Hastings is a bit of an unknown quantity. He could be great, could be a complete fizzer.
