People are kidding themselves if they think Hastings will play halfback over brooks. The bloke played a about 15 games for the roosters in the halves and guess what they came 14th that year.

He’s a depth signing that will play Lock of the bench. I see him being more effective at lock than halfback anyways. Just like what mybe has done in a few games but much cheaper.

I agree Brooks is better. But you are comparing a bloke who was a baby when he played those 15 games to a bloke who is 26 and played 150 odd. Not really a fair comparison.

How do we know Brooks is better? I’m not saying I think Hastings IS better, but there’s really no way to know until he gets here. Brooks hasn’t exactly been setting the world on fire. His performances the last two games have been adequate imo. I’m sure he’s been signed as lock but there is no doubt he’ll have his sights on the 7.

We don't know. It's mine and obviously @TigerBlood93 opinion that he is. Not quite sure what it is you're getting at. I already said it's unfair to compare the two based on 15 games when Hastings was a kid.

He was playing angry , because he got a rocket from Walters . He’s been lazy and ineffective , outside of throwing the occasional half for six , or palming off the odd centre .

He strikes me as an arrogant , narcissistic flog , who only lifts when someone starts tearing away at his ego foundation , kind of like “yea I’m the man “ . And once he gets that validation , he returns to mediocrity , until the next person challenges him . He’d never come here , Madge would crumble his very existence , and any player with a brain , and that kind of fragile ego , would know it.

Why would Hastings be a new low?

I informed a friend of mine. He and his family have links to Illawarra footy. His first comment is why do some coaches believe they are the exception when others have failed (in relation to recruiting players who have a history)? This is the same gentleman who pointed out a young 16 year old Ryan Girdler as a future star. I listen when someone of that background makes comment.

No offence taken. But if we are considering or have signed Hastings, I despair for our club and its future.

What did Hastings actually do? No one has ever said. He also seems to have matured a lot after being exiled.

Blow up witb DCE and most of the other players in the team was the last thing I remember. He didn't seem to get along with many people wherever he went.

And this is what I mean. He's essentially been run out of the country based on a bad attitude at this point. I assume he did something really nasty off field that has been ignored or covered up because he's a nobody

He was only 22 at the time and some young men do not mature as quickly as others. If ruffling the feathers of a few ego's is the worst he has done I think he is probably entitled some leeway. His price tag would be thing I am most concerned about. He is still relatively in proven here.

The Brooks fan club are so worried we will have a number 7 that madge can use if Brooks don’t deliver that they are using any reason to talk down this signing.

The team needs to lift around the spine collectively , which will happen as the game time they play together increases . And that includes Brooks. . If the club decides to move him on , then Madden not Hastings should be the one to get the nod . Hastings is NOT a halfback . You’re so Enamaouted with dumping our halfback , that you somehow have twisted it in your head that your being victimised . It’s actually impressive how you’ve done that . So if Hastings is here , then yes I’m happy that Brooks will be looking over his shoulder. Nothing would please me more then Brooks turning into a champion because that means tigers will be winning. But if he doesn’t then we need to have options. If Hastings is here as a lock I’m happy with that aswell. And my favourite , I’m “being victimised” what the hell are you on lol. It’s a forum , people will have different opinions then me and you, get a grip on yourself.

I’m going to back brooks to hilt , whilst the club backs him , and he wants to be here . When that day comes , and it will at some point , whether he’s Johns 2.0 or Ben Black , single gamer , then I will back whoever the heir apparent is . That’s it .

When there’s some kind of actual change to the status quo , then go for your life . But this is it for the foreseeable future . Stop retreading old ground .

It’s non of your business what I write or don’t write. It’s a forum , you don’t like my opinion then don’t read it. There are many others on here that have stronger opinions on Brooks then me yet you seem to follow me around like a bad smell. I’m not obsessed with Brooks the person like you are. My opinion of him will constantly change depending on how he plays. If he takes ownership of his team and gets us some wins then I will be his biggest fan. If he doesn’t then I will be the first to call for changes.

I cannot believe we have pages and pages about how bad Jackson Hastings is as a signing..
The guy has not even played a game and we are looking at his replacement.
As you all know we are NOT a club that can just attract top line players at a cheap rate so we need to pick and choose carefully until we get there. This my friends is a very smart signing and would not of costed an arm and leg to get him.
He wanted to come back home to his family and prove himself and we gave him an opportunity to do this. He had a few runs in with some guys at Manly (not the first one) and might of reacted bad but hey he was young and has learnt from it.
He obviously can play as you don't win Men of Steel for just turning up so we need to give him a chance. He comes in and slots in the 13 and if our halves are injured or down on form he can cover as well. Its a Win win for us.
I for one will accept him and will be watching him play overseas this season.

I agree. I'm not even sure how Hastings will go. Is he a first grader ? Is he a quality first grader ? Is he a lock ? Is he a 7 ?

I assume if he is a quality NRL player and is a quality 7 he is going to be gunning for that role mainly due to the dollars available in the halves.

The question is how good is he. We find out over the next couple of seasons.

So they decided to hire a 30 year old on a 3 year deal. How old is Adam Reynolds? Mitchell Pearce? Benji Methuselah?

And people here complain over Hastings, who will be just 26 in 2022. BTW Brooks will be 27 by then.

In any case, the signing of Hastings is the Club's first for next season and the Townsend deal ought to put to bed the Brooks to Cows idea.

Everyone I know in professional rugby league rates the Townsend Signing extremely highly. Interesting that the average supporter doesn't. I personally didn't think it was great. Will be intersting to see how it turns out

3 years is way too long. He's a defensive liability and offers less and less in attack every time he plays. He's not as bad as some people say but he just doesn't make sense as a signing for cowboys.
