Id take Sam Burgess in a second. 32 isnt old and he is an elite footballer and he comes back then our young forwards have someone to follow. You only need 30 mins from him especially early on. If he is medically ok then sign him up

It's a good rumour. Whoever came up with it, kudos to you.

I'm on the boys at 600/1 to win the comp.

It's gonna be a big Christmas in the Schrute household.

Belsnickel will declare me impish!

Burgess is 10x tamou, and has had a year off, could mean he is fresh. Take away his off field issues, if he’s fit, he’d be our best forward by a country mile

He been out for 2 years. Brings massive baggage. Would be a complete disaster. Madge needs to realise it’s not 2014 anymore

Nah
He’d be great
We need a leader ... Tamou is puss

What baggage has he got ?
He’s a single bloke .

He’s a total moron Hobbo.

So ....?

I can’t see how his signing will end well.

Stop stressing...
It’s just a rumour at the moment ?

I do believe his medical retirement was all concocted..

Burgess is as dumb as a house brick but he can play ..
He’d be on minimum coin and he needs a hobby ..
I say yes .

Yes if it includes this year, see no value in signing him 10 months out

Sam Burgess making a comeback for the Tigers.

I hope not,i certainly dont want a thug like him playing for my club

Tigers and Knights are interested and it’s definitely going to happen, most likely a Tiger.

I could not be more disgusted if i tried. He is worse than Lodge imo

Who cares really ..
It’s all about winning games ..
Footy has always been a game for Neanderthals and thugs ..
How’s Mr nice guy Tamou working out ?

I care and i cared when Jones got that other thug M Geyer to the club. There is a massive difference from being tough and being a thug.Burgess is the definition of a thug and always will be

Geyer pussed out at Balmain except for one game. He got dropped from the City side ( By Gus I think) and the next game at Leichhardt he tore up and won the game all by himself.

But yes, both **thugs**, but I'd take Geyer before S Burgess. Burgess is one of the best forwards Ive seen but he is a **thug**, a crap bloke, old, has a dodgey shoulder and hasnt played for 2 years..what could go wrong?

I’m 50/50 but It seems like it’s going to happen.

New here, where is the mail from?

Trust me, I’m the best source in the forum....

So let us know when he has made up his mind

Your 1st post said Sam making comeback as a tiger

Than said It's out of us and knights

Burgess will not be playing NRL next year. Said yesterday that he has no intentions of playing the game and wants to be either coaching or somewhat involved with Souths

Adan Reynolds most likely a shark because they offered three years. If we offered the same he’d be a Tiger. We didn’t.

I doubt it, we didn’t make a play for him, Madge thinks he’s soft. Reynolds one of the main catalysts in getting Madge the boot at rabbits. Training methods too much apparently.

Re the signing of Reynolds, Brown, and others.. Penrith has shown the way, and that is the blueprint we should follow.
We must look and plan for the future, and not buy players in their twilight years, we have been burnt badly in the past.
Do the Storm, Easts, Penrith etc buy players at their career ends ? Anxiety causes bad decicions, success takes time.
We must learn from the errors of the past.

In my mind we are already doing just that. We have learnt and the guys in charge of recruitment have done a fair job.

Yes it's like investing in shares and property, you buy at the bottom of the market, not at the top, otherwise you have only one way to go, and thats down! As the song goes,--YOU'VE GOT TO KNOW WHEN TO HOLD THEM, AND KNOW WHEN TO THROW THEM !

very smart the club never rushed Signing Liddle they knew what they had in Jake Simpkin use the Liddle money to try and go towards buying a centre along with Joey L money

I think they should still sign Liddle for 2022. He's a great back up option if Jake gets injured

I think Liddle is still a good player and deserves a crack at first grade at nrl he is better than a backup he is just not as good as Jake Simpkin

No doubt a quality player like Liddle will be snapped up by another club and come back to bite us.

he is not better than simpkin though so happy to lose him can't keep everyone

I hope Simpkin is better than Liddle.
But I can't say that he is based on 1 game.
If you're looking at Reserve grade games he didn't produce anything close to Liddle's performance last week.
At the moment Simpkin is still just a hype train that hasn't proven himself.

ok Dwight a Liddle 49 first grade game fan versus 1 game for Simpkin.
Luckily Madge does not agree with your assessment
Bar injury Liddle wont replace Simpkin this year

Simpkin may be replaced by Liddle at some point this year, and not just through injury, very definitely.

Just because Madge picked Simpkin last week over Luddle, that doesn't mean he thinks Simpkin is better than Liddle. It means last week (and this week), Madge thinks Simpkin can do the job better than Liddle in the game at hand. Maybe vs Dragons in a few weeks Madge wants a different plan and picks Liddle?

simpkin is signed and at present Liddle is not. if we dont move Mmbye on I can't see Madge resigning Liddle

Then they will still be looking to sign another specialist hooker for 2022 as just 1 specialist will not cut it

Mbye becomes the specialist 9

But he's not a specialist 9 and just saying so won't make it so...

M'Bye is not and probably never will be a capable hooker

then we have to buy someone else then as don't think we will keep Liddle he doesn't deserve to sit behind Simpkin if we have Mmbye we may aswell use him

Maybe letting Walters go without this (backup hooker) being sorted is somewhat unwise. Mbye is making, and has done, all the right signals and moves he is ready to go, but like everything he has to actually have a taker but it seems more than likely he will be gone at end of season. lf we also let Walters go with his contract expiring at ed of this season without trying to keep him or early identification and/or signing of this backup hooker we may be deep doo doo in 2022.

Who are some of these back ups? Jeremy Marshall-King from Dogs? Who else is out there without contract for next year and what team are they with?

agree maybe moving on walters is not a good idea, if we could move Mmbye on perhaps we keep walters (if his dad does not want him) and turn him into a 9
If Liddle does get signed by another club do you look at segayaro on the cheap

Really hate the fact if a player gets demoted and that automatically assumes they will move elsewhere. What ever happened to earning your spot and trying harder?

Liddle is on decent money and should knuckle down and work on his flaws. Hel be playing this year no doubt. Simpkins is too young to play 3/4 of a season in the NRL without picking up some niggling injuries.

On another note Id give Brooks to the end of the year. If he doesnt improve move him to 14 or out. Hastings and Douhie should be given first crack next year if we dont improve.

Brooks is playing well.

But you want to replace him if we don't improve.

Are you holding Brooks to account for the team's performance? You used the word we.

No one blames Luke for losing games but the problem is he is unable to create opportunities in the oppositions 20 that's as simple as it is ...a No7 with over 150 games experience should well and truly be able to be creative in that position on the field.
Opposition teams have no problem with nullifying him in the 20 ..unfortunately this has to be rectified if that means replacing him so be it !

Isn't Brooks doing quite well in try assists this year?

7 try assists
6 off passes
1 off a cross field kick
1 repeat set

His short kicking game is atrocious in the opposition kill zone

He's playing alright but he plays nothing like the top halfbacks do. He plays like a 5/8

But he doesn’t run enough to be a 5/8

Look at Luai, his first thought is run, and he is killing it

Luai has 41 runs in 7 games. Luke Brooks has 35 in 6 games so he is running almost exactly as much as Luai.

I know Brooks deserves some criticism but I feel like people don’t give credit where it’s due.

He is playing well at the moment, not perfect but certainly better than last year and considering we have a spine that is basically all new it’s going to take time for all of them to gel.

Brooks is going ok at the moment but stats don’t mean much without context

I would’ve moved him to 9 years ago

Yes stat's don't mean much without context.
Moving Brooks to 9.... I want to move Brooks to 5/8, heck I even think if trained up differently he could be a 1.

7 years ago I remember our halves pairings. You see them when you enter a public pool with a $2 coin. Sure hyper talented but absolute turnstyles.

I thought he was medically retired?
You can’t all of a sudden to play again, surely?

He could it would just stuff Souths up alot - would create a massive salary cap hit which would be back dated (so imagine future seasons they would be required to spread the payment out).

It has little impact on Sam.

If his initial injury was that bad for him to retire, then we are playing with fire again
He gets re injured and it's called pre existing
We get no cap relief and we are stuffed again
Matalino Mark 2
Or was his injury none existent and just a cover up by souths for what was really going on
I mean he could have got some great acting lessons from Rusty
Academy award stuff

I think we should stat well clear
Injury to cause retirement
Drug issues
Personal family issues
And the media scrutiny that would follow

And let's not forget to add that he hasn't played football for some time
No thanks

Gonna put this out there.

Madge says in an interview when asked why players don't want to come here that he has spoken to players that are keen to play for us.

The POM mentions in his post that we're chasing an outside back.

Kotoni Staggs won't re-sign with the Broncos.

Could it be? Is it possible?

Could Staggs be a Tiger??

This is part of what madge said

Wests Tigers coach Michael Maguire urges fans to be patient as they build for the future

WRITTEN BYLACHLAN MCKIRDY

Despite failing to land a big-money signing in recent season, Maguire assured fans that he is constantly in talks with players at other clubs who like what they're seeing at the Tigers.

"There are a lot of players that I know want to come to this club," Maguire said.

"I do talk to a lot of players. A lot of players are signed at certain clubs and they talk to me about what’s going on at the Wests Tigers.

"A lot of people know that the club is moving in a direction and we’re building a foundation. And there are a lot of players out there that like what they’re seeing

hahahaha hahahaha

Look Madge so far has only been turned down by Mitchell, DWZ, Naden, Jac, Chn, Zac Lomax, maybe Surgess, AJohnston, M Moylan in 2025 we are gunna build a ripper team when all these guys join us... Hold still guys we are only years away from making the 8

Madge is no good player magnet, more a good player repellant, and it is a major concern despite what some say.

Burgess joining must be a joke. No medical practitioner would sign off on him being fit if another has determined he isn't and has been medically retired.

That was a salary cap clearing exercise

What would be the NRL position?

Whatever is best for Souths, as they normally do

Assuming an estimated north of $2m to spend next year, my three big targets for us would be:

1. Dale Finucane - not flashy or exciting but exactly what we need to put some starch in the middle with a 19 year old hooker. Played in 5 grand finals in 8 years with dogs and storm. Winner. Off contract and Packer cash would almost get it done.

2. Joey Manu - Just a class act. Genuine strike in the centres, defence rock solid and at a pinch can play full back and succeed . Winner. When they re-sign Sam Walker they will have some pressures (already upgraded Kear, Angus etc.) and he should be our priority #1. Not off contact juts yet but the pressure will mount. Bj Leilua money plus some extra cream.

3. Xavier Coates - storm might already have this locked away but blow them out of the water with a 4 year deal at $500k per year (similar to Fergo money). In 2 years time he will be the most dangerous target in the air in the comp and has top 3 speed in the comp. Exactly what we need.

See how the spine develops with those three and then make a call on Brooks at the end of 2022.
