Obviously can't see if he's any good at defending in these highlights but he looks decently fast, has a nice right foot step and good ball skills. Very good at creating overlaps for his winger outside him. If we do get him seems a good replacement for Joey on the left edge.

Having watched him live on more than a few occasions he is going to need to improve his defence very quickly

Gonna put this out there.

Madge says in an interview when asked why players don't want to come here that he has spoken to players that are keen to play for us.

The POM mentions in his post that we're chasing an outside back.

Kotoni Staggs won't re-sign with the Broncos.

Could it be? Is it possible?

Could Staggs be a Tiger??

Wests Tigers coach Michael Maguire urges fans to be patient as they build for the future

WRITTEN BYLACHLAN MCKIRDY

Despite failing to land a big-money signing in recent season, Maguire assured fans that he is constantly in talks with players at other clubs who like what they're seeing at the Tigers.

"There are a lot of players that I know want to come to this club," Maguire said.

"I do talk to a lot of players. A lot of players are signed at certain clubs and they talk to me about what’s going on at the Wests Tigers.

"A lot of people know that the club is moving in a direction and we’re building a foundation. And there are a lot of players out there that like what they’re seeing

hahahaha hahahaha

Look Madge so far has only been turned down by Mitchell, DWZ, Naden, Jac, Chn, Zac Lomax, maybe Surgess, AJohnston, M Moylan in 2025 we are gunna build a ripper team when all these guys join us... Hold still guys we are only years away from making the 8

Madge is no good player magnet, more a good player repellant, and it is a major concern despite what some say.

Yea he only gave us a player pipe fron Souths!

Doulieni, Roberts, etc.

Players dont want to come here. We know Penrith as we have half their staff, we know souths because of McGuire. We got one guy from Brisbane because of a firesale.

Make us more attractive and we will get players coming here. Yes we dont want players unwilling to work, yes McGuire probably isnt a Fun coach, but hey thatz life.

By watching those 2019 highlights, i legit can’t tell if he’s really quick or everyone else is just behind the pace dramatically. I’m hoping for the first.

He appears t have some pace, and the ability to beat a man. Except for Laurie our present backline is snails pace.

He looks pretty lame and I have low expectations. Guy won’t make it out of CC.

Would prefer some of the current guys in CC play in front of him.

English backs - Widdop is the exception but even he played under 20s here.

Hey, who remembers Sam “The next Billy Slater” Tomkins? Pathetic.

I hope Madge and Hartigan are monitoring this situation very closely. As an aggressive, hard-running forward he will be a phenomenal addition. Tapine and Madge have a Kiwi connection.

Tapine at 13 would just about round our pack out. don't see it happening, but imagine.

We can only hope !

We have so many props already

If it's a roadblock that's an issue especially for WTs. This buy gives all the appearance of face or job saving.

I really think we need to promote from within...I hope we learn from bj, jimmy etc and stop trying to buy half decent centres and make them superstars...talau and cini should be our centre paring next year and I’d really like to see us develop Fitzgibbon into a first grade winger...our backline needs balance

Recent history is up against him, as no English back in the modern era has made it out here. It’s good to see the club are thinking outside the box though. Just wish they were targeting pommy forwards.

Just hope we haven’t paid a heap for him.

Widdop was brilliant but is an exception. Hall was solid for the Roosters but had big names infront of him.

Backs struggle as they aren’t use to the speed & size during development stages. Here you are always up against big boppers from under 7 upwards, there it’s very different they don’t have anything like that to help the development. He is young & appears talented touchwood and we get an exception. Hastings plays his side of the park which could take a load off him as well.

Hall hardly played mate

Hall never scored a try and he was playing for Roosters
Went back to SL and first game scored a double

Danny Weidler reports the playing future of outstanding Warriors winger David Fusitu’a is in serious doubt. He is battling personal issues. Footy is the least of his priorities at the moment. Reckon he's homesick for sure.

He went back to NZ last year too right? Obviously has some stuff going on back there poor bugger.

Because of the nature it’s something he had chosen not to make public for the last 4 months. Now that it's surfaced I hope the Warriors do everything to make sure he’s ok. Homesick..

George Williams doing OK? You mean outside back? Widdop. Herbie Farnworth. Happens from time to time.

Back in the day, they were mostly backs coming over - Hanley, Offiah, Gregory, Shaun Edwards, Currier, Schofield, Connolly.

What's the deal with Farnworth? I know he's English born and came here before playing any professional league games, but I was watching one of the Aus U20s school boys games the other day (one of the ones Blore was in) and I am like 99.99% sure he was on the wing for Aus against NZ.

I hear Oliver Gildart is a done deal.

Hope not. Why would we want such a small backline? Can you imagine him and Nof next to one another.

If it's only 200k as a squad option for him to prove himself ok, but he's just a run of the mill back.

People doubted Ellis before he came to us. He's an international player and we're hardly a magnet club. Plus I'm willing to trust Madge based on his recruitment so far.

Watching his highlights from 2019 he didnt seem that small to me, he had a bit of toe a nice in and away a good passing game. The only query i would have for him looking at that would be his defence. But as you say Madge would know more about him as he's coached there previously albeit a while ago and i would say Hodgo would have been consulted about signing him up i dare say.

Ellis was class when he played for England and outplayed most of our forwards in tests,so it was never in doubt he was going to be a success.Gildart is at least 2 steps down from Ellis.I hope i am wrong but i see no reason to be excited if we get him

It's not a computer game where players magically progress year on year and you can slowly train them to be the player you want.

Playing football is a bit like school or university. If you have a bit of talent in the first place, you'll be a standout in the younger years...as you get older, the responsibility is on the player to put in the extras to fix their deficiencies.

If Fitzgibbon puts the work in, he could be a decent NRL player. The coaching staff can only do so much.

Really? Few doubted Ellis, he was a top 2 forward in England and had been a standout domestically and internationally

Gildart is 182cm, 85kgs. That's small for a centre.

Size isn't everything, but it helps.

He's also been out all season with a groin injury.

Again if he's on 200k and wanting to prove himself then fine. He basically comes in as a direct swap for JTJ. No problem with that. If we're offering him 500k then he kinda needs to start and that would be a concern.

A centre who can put away their winger is a lost art in the NRL. Only a few around who can still do it. Jarrod Croker and Joseph Manu are the only two I can think of who are great at it. Michael Jennings and Latrell Mitchell were very good at it when they played centre. Joey Leilua can do it too when he decides to show up.

Gildart looks like he has that in spades. Defence is the only question.

Yeah really. It's easy to say in hindsight that Ellis being great was a given but yeah people had doubts he would be a good consistent NRL player.

I watched a few of Hall's games for the Roosters, he didn't do much wrong, they just didn't give him the ball apart from dirty hit ups. I am not saying he was a star, just that a single stat can be very misleading.

Gildart has a great in and away and knows how to drift across and create space for his winger. all of that is great but defensively it's going to be a massive ask under 90kg considering the physical standard of NRL centres these days. not writing him off, but he'll need to put a few kg's on and work on his contact if this is going to come off.
