Tamou to Super League

The name of Wests Tigers captain James Tamou has mysteriously appeared on the radar of Super League clubs in recent days.

Tamou was one of the Tigers’ big off-season signings but he is among the older players who have struggled with the frantic nature of the modern game.

In recent weeks, his playing time has been down and it appears Super League sides have been put on alert. It is understood the Tigers are not driving the push for Tamou in England.

However, Weekend Read understands that at least two Super League clubs have been sounded out about whether they would be interested in signing the former NSW forward.

His future has become an issue as the Tigers step up attempts to sign South Sydney centre Dane Gagai and talks over the future of Moses Mbye heat up.

Gagai was believed to be on Brisbane’s radar, but they are understood to have dropped off. Souths would love to keep him but can’t afford to retain both he and fellow Queensland player Jaydn Su’A.

Someone will have to go and the Tigers are hoping to capitalise on the salary cap squeeze at the Rabbitohs.

Moses, the Tigers former captain, has been given permission to explore his options and it is understood there were further talks this week over his next move.

Wow! the bigger news in that article is that we are keen on Gagai!

There is a hazy rumour floating around that Ricky Stuart has inquired about Luke Brooks availability to replace George Williams in Canberra.

Not sure on reliability, source has 50% hit rate. But one worth watching if it develops. By that I mean, watching Brooks out the door.

There was an enquiry by Wigan to see if they could get George Williams immediately and suggested a three way swap with Hastings moving to the Tigers, Brooks to Canberra and Williams to Wigan. I believe it was nothing more than an enquiry/suggestion which was shot down.

I wonder how much freight we'd expect to carry for Brooks still has a few years and on big $ which i cant see the raiders taking on. I think Brooks does need to go for his sake and our sake but to carry the can for this to happen would be silly especially when we've a;ready signed Hastings for next year.

Hastings is a downgrade from Brooks

The only people who even think brooks is crap , is the fans on social media , and Mick Ennis ( who has a bee in his bonnet because his close mate in Reynolds was wearing the magpies jersey last year ) **There’s been no mention out of the club that they’re even remotely unhappy with him.** I’m curious if he does play second receiver , how many try assists he will get . Or if he will prove everyone right on here .

You don't think bringing Madden into the side is a sign?

Sign, sign everywhere a sign -

6 Brooks
7 Madden
13 Doueihi

I reckon this could work. We'd have a lock who can make a bust and he'd be the most skillful lock in the comp. The question is could he handle it defensively.

Then Brooks would have to get his running and passing game back. Then Madden would have to prove he is a first grader.

Lot of if's but maybe it'd work.

Doueihi can’t be lazy if that was to happen.
His work rate off the ball is terrible.
Locks these days need to be very fit, full of energy both in attack and when defending.

Doueihi isn't lazy. He is going great for us. I do agree that it'd be tough on him but maybe he could do it.

He is, even admitted last week or the week before saying Robbie is kicking up the backside due to being lazy. He has alot of upside but without the ball he is very ordinary.

He's hard on himself tho.
If he's lazy, what would you call our other players?

Douohei, Laurie and our 9s are the most active.

It's just how Lebanese people are mate.
Hard workers who always thrive to do better.
It's on our blood.

Explain Eddie Obeid.

I'd prefer Su'A to Gagai

I thought Gagai had a drop in intensity last week. His defence was part of the reason for the Fox running in 6. Poor salary cap management knock on effect?

Gagai is better than what we have but geez he is rocks and diamonds type player and will be looking for a retirement contract. surely we can do better

Gagai can play really well and he's also used to being in a crap team from his Knights days where he was excellent but at 30 he's slowing down and not sure he's the player he used to be.

I wonder if they intend to use him at wing or centre if they signed him - if it's centre that means jimmy and Joey might not be around next year, or they're just used as depth.

Gotta be at centre, actually think he’s been really solid for south’s this year apart from last week

Yeah that was my thought as well

Madge has enough challenges, I dont think he needs to spend his energy trying to convince an aging Dane Gagai that he is playing origin every week.

Yeah I prefer him at centre especially at this stage of career. He's been pretty good this yesr but unsure if he would be the same with us

Once again we are linked to a current state of origin player and every 1 complains haha
Would be a great signing for the club wouldn’t be on huge coin and is a good safe outside back

Gagai we can do better than that ..this guy never put in unless he had a maroon jersey on . Contract year under pressure for a job its a different look, Imo its Nuffie all over apply yourself for a deal then happy days ..no thanks to Gagai this type of attitude needs to be no where near the club already to many ATM.
