Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Not sure why everyone’s whining. We could possibly get an international level player who’s still young?

Yes he hasn’t been that impressive at the dogs, but who has? Flanagan, cotric and the dude from reynolds aren’t doing anything spectacular and half of you guys wanted them.

Dallin was very impressive at the panthers and only left due to a fallout with Cleary (that’s a match made in heaven for us) he does the dirty runs and loves putting on a hit. Brings experience for us!!

The people complaining saying that this will effect our juniors.. are you guys the same people that complain when our rookies make
Mistakes, the amount of whiners that complain when Talau makes 1-2 mistakes a game even when he has a strong game have grown in the last few weeks.

We need a good mix of experience and juniors, I would like to see 1-2 spots for our juniors to play consistent first grade footy if they earn it, I do believe we gotta keep Talau in the team for the future as he’s our best junior atm.

I doubt Joey will be here next year! Mybe will be gone. Honestly probably release or lose 1-2 junior’s, I reckon Hoffman will be gone.

Btw we got offa from the wooden spooners last year and now he’s playing origin, I can see similar things happening for Dallin.

Well said... Though I am going to disagree.

DWZ has a lot of talent. He can score tries and get over the line, that is what you want in a fullback.
The big problem I see in DWZ is D, the big D defense. Currently we win games by scoring over 20 points. We have not solved our D problem and I don't think DWZ is the person to do that. I realise that the Fullback can add a lot to defense, I don't think DWZ is doing this but if you think otherwise make your claim.

That being said, hats off to Dean Pay at the dogs. Yes they were near wooden spooners but always turned up and had grit. I think you could target a few Dogs in the forwards definitely, we signed all the wrong players from the dogs to be honest. Lets stop buying their spine!

I think DWZ put the effort in there but seeing how the side is now he is not a player I would target. We need to up our D, we need to recruit players who will up our D. Brisbane should be our main pipe with Souths and Penrith. Happy to recruit less and better.

What an underwhelming experience that will be coming from Brisbane.....
Pascoe: "See past the demountables over there.....you have to use your imagination, however in the next 12 months, that will be the 'Benji Marshall' weights room......we also recently started providing Gatorade and Gaffa tape to players which you will find in the new utilities cupboard. We've named that the 'Braith Anasta' Storeroom.
Now which one of our 6 home grounds would you like to visit first?"

He was supposed to be visiting the Tigers & Dragons, although the Dragons no longer have money since De Belin ( not everyone at the Dragons are happy about his return) has returned as their priority is Hynes. Joey Manu wants to play fullback & has been given permission to explore his options, he has been having preliminary talks for nearly 2 months

The correlation is interesting, but wouldn’t it be a better option to pick up a player from a GF winning team each year? 😂

Joey manu can do anything and everything he’s an absolute freak! The odds of him coming to tigers are about as high as me becoming dictator of South Korea but no harm in throwing him whatever he asks and more!

Thanks for the update. De Belin is a fine player and will strengthen the Dragon's defence. The best attribute he brings is his partner, Alyce Taylor. I admire her for the strength. A truly courageous woman. As for De Belin, if you watch him walk, doesn't he remind you of a Rooster?

If she courageous she would of left him once she found out his hideous act.

I honestly not keen to watch a game he is playing

I do think he would be fine and plays a position we need an upgrade in.

People are probably complaining for one or more of four reasons -

1. We've been burnt in the past by 'dumb' knee-jerk signings and they see this as that.
2. They want 'class'. The trouble is you don't get celebrities staying with you when you're seen as Old Kent Road
3. Some people want the class for the cost of a used toilet roll.
4. They want juniors promoted. That's fine if they're rady but atm it would appear they're not.

We have a FB for the next 10 years - so say many on the Forum.

That's the story spun on Hynes anyway.

If Manu is available then we throw everything at him. Sure, Laurie has been solid and has potential, but if we can sign any world class players we need to try everything we can to do it. Laurie can move to 5/8. Highly doubt the Roosters would just let him go though and if they did there'd be a dozen suitors and we'd likely be the least attractive of them all!

I'm one of those in the Laurie 10 years at fullback campaign, but man, you don't pass up on a player like Manu. you sign him and fit him in where you can. He could even play 6. according to Zero Tackle and minus the paper bags he's only on $550k, we could offer him $300k more and I still think it would be justified.

A former international, who's in career worst form, with an incredibly inflated salary. Who's departure would free up considerable cap space for a rival who has already signed a number of elite players, while we're left signing discards.

It makes us look like a joke. Bargain hunters rather than a club that wants to contend for the premiership asap

Why would we desperately need another FB (also expensive), when we need centres and wingers ?

Well written BB and when you read it, the obvious conclusion is why would any club be interested? The only answers are the obligatory he is cheap (even though he hasn't played well for years) and it's about all our coach can attract.

The other way to look at it is that all the other stuff (Bulldogs other signings etc) are completely irrelevant to WT. At the end of the day Madge and Hartigan must simply look at a player and say we have a player in front of us with X amount of ability, plays in a position we are weak in and will cost us $Y. Does all of that fit and add up, the rest is irrelevant.
