Dale Finucan would be great here.

Another leader to help guide our great young forward pack

A good player on the way down, we have a good pack , with a lot of young guys coming through, I think by mid next year we will have the best forward roster in the comp.

Our biggest problem will be keeping them!

Money needs to be spent elsewhere the backs is where that is in the short term ..forward strength looks pretty good short term .

My thoughts exactley. We are building nicely.

Good luck to nicho Hynes getting those dollars but this time next year people will be saying what a waste of money besides Cronk how many players come out of that system and play well elsewhere

After browsing through the off contract players for next season, I wonder about our transfer plans. No real superstar talents available so I’m truly curious where our abundance of cap space will go. Understand the club is looking at Franklin Pele of the sharks and Egan Butcher of the roosters but are more young forwards really the answer moving forward? Feel like that is one of the only areas we seem stacked in.

I'm hearing Fergo is going cheapo today...sign him up for $200k!

Didn't he knock us back a while ago? Would be a NO from me.

He's a winger at the end of his career PASS.

Franklin Pele from the sharks would be a good pick up if we can make that happen

Harry Grant. But he's a freak. I do know what you're saying tho. Most players struggle outside the storm system once they play in a team with significant weaknesses in certain aspects of their game. Time will tell.

Don't get this from Joffa...

Hahha had a giggle on this.. I doubt Joffa would have tried to talk to him.. or maybe he’s annoyed he didn’t join broncos?

Butcher is a very good player. We have no choice but to go for young talent.I'd rather buy young talented players than mediocre first graders. Both players are from good junior systems.

Talks between Bulldogs & Tigers with DWZ advanced quickly over the weekend, strong chance he's playing for us against Eels in round 14.
Money being the biggest issue for 2022, dogs expected to chip in around the $300-$350k mark, Tigers offering this season & 22/23

Thanks @THE_POM , are we looking at anyone else??

Brisbane have closed the door on Issako (For now), don't think they expected the backlash from the well documented trip, Every chance Walters will still be released to free up another roster spot.
James Roberts has all but sealed his option being activated for 2022. Leilua not looking likely he'll be here, was briefly discussed that they'll let the option expire & then re-negotiate terms with BJ on a lesser deal but have to see if he's keen on that.
Discussion with re-signing Luciano have begun & everyone involved is confident something will be confirmed prior to November 1st

Thanks Pom, hope we’re not paying JTJ any more money, apart from finishing a couple of tries on the weekend, what has he done?! Needs to prove he actually wants to be a footy player. I hope we hold off for another month.

His option for 2022 is only 50k more than this year.

But he's still done nothing to warrant an extension at this stage. Friday was his first decent game, and even then he wasn't targeted in defence once all game. Did he even make a tackle?

Even if he's cheap he takes up a squad position that isn't going to the likes of Ogden. We already have Hoffman and Kei next season taking up space next season, we can't fill out the squad with a whole heap of sub par players.

100% BB - surely we should be giving the likes of these priority and spending the dollars in other key positions?!

It’s like we just want to make the same mistakes over and over. Average, mid to late 20s players and forget everyone else.

Why do we even bother with a youth push?

100% BB - why do we even bother with a youth strategy that seems to be working? Targets of average mid to late 20s that nobody else want.

There's been a massive focus on youth and junior development but you can't fill your whole squad with them, you need some experienced first graders.

Same mistakes over and over. We embarked on a proper youth strategy a couple of years ago which seems to be working and now we are bringing in average players who really aren’t worth the prices they are asking and being discarded by others for a reason, mind you. That’s not how youth get experience in first grade.

What duds have we signed and who's spot are they taking.... we desperately need a winger, what young winger is standing out?

Talau can barely catch a footy and we can't afford to have him in first grade. DWZ fixes that problem. Madge has clearly shown he's willing to give rookies a go regardless of who's in the top 30, stop worrying about things that haven't happened.

Your whole team can't just be rookies who are finding their feet, you won't win games then the best ones leave for the big clubs - it's all about balancing youth and experience.

Madge and hartigan have been massive in the youth department, they know what they're doing in that regard. No need to worry about it just because we are wanting to sign a 25 year old New Zealand international in a position we desperately need. We've still got plenty of spots in our 30 next year

He must be good if clubs keep offloading - employers don’t ever let the god ones go.

No thanks. I’d rather spend it on real quality.

He's been at two clubs, was excellent at Penrith and got massively overpaid by Bulldogs.

Good players get let go all the time by clubs too.

Not on my watch.

You didn't get that watch off Malakai by any chance?

I've got one of his watches, bloody nice watch too.

Surprised Hynes is 24 - not that that's old, just thought he was younger than that.

It is a bit of a risky signing for that price IMO, hope he can deliver - seems like a good bloke.

You’re surprised a rookie NRL player is in his twenties... ahoy there !
