Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Happy with Joffa and Seyfarth the last few weeks, but still think if we got Finucane he would help teach the squad how to compete every set in defence. Absolute maniac.

Not a podcast, but listen to what Bellamy says about him in the in the post game press conference after the Titans game.

Every 1 high up in the game ses the players set the standards at training and on game day.
He would be perfect for us keeping every 1 accountable

It's funny how people who go Moses and other players, call them dogs etc now support Woods coming back to the club.

Screw that rubbish.

The guy was club captain and tried to take all our good players to another club.

The absolute last player id let back in the club.

He’s a grub who thought he was bigger than the club. Think of the Hooper interview where he threw the club under the bus. Around that time he was also a regular on NRL 360. He never once defended the club or spoke on behalf of the club. He was looking out for himself. To do all that as captain, made him one of the most selfish players I can ever remember.

No one in this forum would ever throw the club under the bus...

We’re supporters. Even if we do, we don’t walk away. Players on the other hand

He left under Cleary's watch. What's your opinion of Cleary, one of our greats? Ever talked Cleary up yourself?

I’m failing to see how that’s relevant? If he was loyal to the club, wouldn’t have mattered who the coach was.

Can't be bothered explaining...

No, please do. Don’t back down.

The Jason Taylor years were a nightmare from which it was going to be very difficult to recover. I had a conversation with Siro at the time who told me how frustrated Curtis was at being lied to all the time by Taylor. The players hated Taylor. Woods was the glue in a side when certain players were threatening mutiny. When the club shafted Taylor, who by the way was brought in to do a certain job, and signed Cleary, it really hit the fan. Woodsy wanted to stay. He was club captain and wanted to be a Tiger for life. He loved the Tigers and he thought they loved him. When Cleary offered a his old mate, a convicted criminal 200k a season more than the club captain, to play the same position, it kind of rubbed people the wrong way, particularly when Woods had only ever done his best for the club. He asked if he could be upgraded to the same money as the crim and was told to look elsewhere if he wanted more money. It's common knowledge now that we wasted 800,000k for 3 seasons when we could have kept, at the time, the best front rower in the game.

At last someone speaking sense, an not vitriole !

Seems like a bit of vitriole against Taylor.

Seyfarth appears to be our next lock. We don't need Finucane and from what we know about Seyfarth, he sets very high standards for his own training which I'm sure other players will note. In amongst the disaster yesterday that was our NSW Cup team, young Daniel Sykes came on and started to hit very hard in defence. You could see he has the drive and competitive spirit Gould often refers to in commentary. Why block our good young players with senior players at the backend of their careers?

Finucane would be an excellent signing to start games at lock for us, then we could bring Seyfarth off the bench at lock.

We do have a lot of middles though and if we run a utility on the bench next year someone decent will be missing out.

Who will offer more in first grade next year, Finucane or Sykes? We need to be a competitive first grade team, you can sign experienced players and still focus on bringing your juniors through. These guys in Flegg are still a few years off being quality first grade players

Seyfarth will offer more. He is here now in the NRL and doing very well. Give him the position to grow into as the Panthers did with Yeo. Why put Finucane in when he is clearly not needed? Sykes continues in NSW Cup learning his trade and both players are local juniors.

I cannot wait till Sheens gets here to shake up the thinking in the NRL team.

I love Seyfarth but Finucane is a classy, origin level player. They can easily both fit into our team and both play good minutes and make us a stronger team overall

Not sure why you think we don't have a heavy focus on youth development and young players - it's pretty much all we've done since Madge and hartigan have got here. Our Flegg and reserves are killing it and they've continued to debut Flegg guys in NSW cup and sheens has been brought in to help those systems

I know you love bringing through juniors but you can't just not sign quality players and rely solely on youth players, you need to balance both.

Don't block progression with players at the back-end of their careers. That is a sure fire way to drive them to a new club. We have Twal, Tamou, Joe O, Liddle, Leilua, Garner etc. How much experience do we need?

Majority of those players you named have not even played 100 games. Like I said you can hav Finucane and Seyfarth and give both plenty of minutes each week. End of the day we need to improve our squad as much as we can

With the amount of middles we have though I wouldn't be surprised to see Seyfarth and Mikaele both extended and us not sign any middle forwards, our pack have been really good lately. We could use a winger and possibly a centre depending on how they use Mbye and Doueihi

I personally don’t. He’s a good player but I think $800k could be used better elsewhere.

Definately. If he's one of a few players that Bellamy absolutely tries to keep then he's perfect for us.
True leader, "tuck the ball under the arm and follow me boys" type of player.
Tamou is too much of a plodder for that

He won't get $800k unless someone like dogs gives it to him. He's a forward, $800k for a middle forward is reserved for the very best of the best. He's worth more around $450k-$500k a year probably

Just thinking Kudos to the training Nd body conditioning team. We have hardly had an injury this year. Compare that to other teams at the moment and we must be doing something right
