Playing FB he was bad, at 5/8 showed some class , but not great, at centre again showed glimpses of class but bad defence. He is a big hearted footballer who was bought as a winger, @ $500,000 thats what i mean that your dreaming.
As much as you think he is the ants pants, he would not make another 1st gde side, and for that money you are looking at the top of the range footballer,which at the moment he is not. Though i hope he gets there.

As always square pegs in round holes in the backline, Add to that , the speed of the game requires fast players, and other sides realise this ,. It starts in the forwards as we all know, and i think we are doing ok in that regard,. For the last few years, we have not only had the slowest backline, we keep buying the same,except for Laurie. I will say it now, but if we, buy a fast centre to join Gildart, AD will find it hard to get a spot. He is a good footballer, but lacks the speed required fof 5/8 or centre. Time will tell.

That might be the "overs" that we need to pay to get class players here.

The money he is looking for he would need to be a state of origin level player, is he going to be at that level in 3 to 4 years? He is still in the mix but I am not sure he wants to be here either.

We just need that first domino to fall and others will follow. If we look at Signing a player like finucane, even if the overs are perceived to be too much, we need to realise the effect on the whole picture. That extra money/year might be the answer to getting the ball rolling and might not be the big deal as an individual transaction.

The player you break the bank on and play overs for needs to be a player that transforms the club, someone that makes the players around them better. Is Finucane that player? Probably not.

the only player truly worth paying overs for in the market at present is Brandon Smith
Problem is we already have Liddle and Simpkin at hooker and Brandon Smith does not really want to leave Melbourne for a hooker / second row spot.
It would be nice to have Brandon at 9 and either Liddle or Simpkin as 14

AD defensively has nt been great, don't know if he is a 6 or a centre
Brooks defence has been good, with Hastings coming it should be a good foil for each other.
Laurie is good and safe but defensively not sure he is top notch

Who cares which player has been the best.
We need 17 players to all play to their best ability.

Ideally we have a bunch of players putting their hand up for the best.

Re paying overs / getting value for money etc etc...it all depends on whether you want quality or quantity.

Dogs went to 650 for JAC...

We dropped out as too expensive for a winger...

But...we paid 450 for Nofa and Talau would be on 300...

So, what do you actually want?

JAC for 650...or Nofa and Talau for 750.

Same with TPJ...do you want him for 750...or Tamou and Joe O for that.

Personally, I think we'd be a lot better team with JAC and TPJ.

We have a hell of a lot of lower tier players who won't win you games. If people want to call them 'value for money', so be it. But we are 3rd last as a result of buying 'value' rather than landing some class players.

If AD is on $600k he is a huge bust.

He's our best player or at least close to it. Nofa on $500k+ would be a much bigger issue

Each to there own. I Disagree. AD defence is as bad as Nofa, Nofa is more valuable for us than AD is when we have the ball. He isn’t worth 600k plus let alone 500k on current form and needs to pull his finger out. He has potential but he shouldn’t be paid on potential years infront of delivering.

Mbye, Brooks and co all get bagged because of how much they on and some expecting alot more. If he is on star status wage then we just aren’t getting value for money.

Nofa has close the worst defence in the NRL and this year he’s added nothing in attack. AD has been one of our best players and tries his guts out. AD is on another level than Nofo. And Nofo’s attitude sucks.

Fuimaono has 93.6 % tackle efficiency and makes good contact in defence , runs good lines and a change of scenery could bring out his best. Would come cheap, if not he then someone similar with plenty of upside

Interesting suggestion.
I've seen him at the beach and he's very athletic.

He's abit of a journey man...

I'd take him over some one like MCK, but we're going to need more than just him to become competitive.
