We've missed out on players recently and signed better ones (arguably)

Maumalo Isaako, DWZ

Gotta have faith.

From what I saw of Maumalo in his first game with us, I wasn’t impressed….Plodder…..at least DWZ runs with vigour…..

We conceded 66 points. Doesn't matter how hard it looks they're running he makes big metres all the time, he's known to be a metre eater

What did you think of watching a real winger in action last night when Olam after picking up the loose ball his first thought was to get it to JAC? This is the problem with Maguire. First thought is hitting it up rather than finishing from anywhere on the field.

Trust me mate I'd rather have JAC than Maumalo but we needed a winger and he was the best on the market. I doubt he's on big coin so if we could sign a gun winger he could take a back seat.

We missed JAC, the Bulldogs got him. Coates was on the move but we end up with Maumalo.

Jac chased the $ and Bulldogs obliged
A player like Coates who still needs to develop would always choose the Storm system to improve his game
We need to find a way to entice players to come
The COE will help but we need far more then that
We need a wealthy business man or women to help with third party payments
We should have someone in head office that can organise social events for the families of players so the women don't fell like they are being left alone
Think of it as a support group for the families
Maybe the club can organise outings for the children so the mums get some time to socialise with other mums in our club
We need to look outside the square and find out how to entice players and their families to join our club
Maybe support scholarships for children or Uni courses for wives if that is allowed
There is life after football so help these players and their families set themselves up for life after football
What can we do to help the families and not just the players

Some great ideas there. Talking about building culture, innovative ideas like these would help.

Yeah... Any such payments are included under the cap...

And there already are events where wifes and girlfriends socialise. Is there a demand for more? Who knows

I don't know much about TPA's, but they're not included in cap value are they?

If no, maybe the should be?

Would defeat the purpose of a TPA ......

I guess you have to ask , with all the rich external benefactors we have within the clubs fringes ......why we don't have more TPA's .......answer ...you don't fill a broken bucket with water ...do you ??

Nrl rich list.

Nofoluma 525k
Dougie 650k

What the hell? Thought nofoa was around 425k and Douhie was around 500k

Either paper has no idea or we paid overs... Again....

If AD is on $600k he is a huge bust.

He's our best player or at least close to it. Nofa on $500k+ would be a much bigger issue

Yep, and the fact Nofo is signed up for another 1,000 years is equally disturbing.

If we still had nofo of last year it would be a good signing

But we didn’t, we got the Nofo of every other year.

I disagree. I think that Nofo is the same player he has always been. Great hit-ups. Can finish a try. Poor defensively.

I think if the team starts performing Nofo will be just as good as he has been in the past. I also don't see him as anywhere near a top winger in the comp. We overpaid with too long a contract but I don't see it as a club killer. It's not in Mbye, Reynolds or Packer realm or even close to it.

Yeah, we overpaid him but it won't cripple us for the long term especially if we continue to be smart with our salary cap.

Agree we’ve overpaid him, I think the club just desperately wanted to keep a good performing clubman. He’s no superstar and yes I wish he would work on his defense.

With everything goiing on at the raiders I would love to see us go after Tapine and Hodgson. We need a backrower and clearly Tapine doesent want to be their but is an absolute talent

We also need a better hooker and an older one like Hodgson would be a great mentor for Simpkin.

If we had Tapine at lock and then Sironen on an edge with Hodgson at Hooker our pack looks much better then it does this year

Roosters asking about Tapine, so we are no chance

We ask Mrs Tapine then ......

I cannot imagine a partner of any player wanting to move to Covid central from the ACT. Sure, the ACT is quieter than Sydney but it also comes with advantages, being close to the far south coast and ski fields. It's a quality of life issue as well. Dare I say it the only attraction to the Roosters would be well financial and the NRL need to take a close look at what is on offer for the player or his manager.

It was a joke Paws ....was meaning after Mrs Tapine's ripping Ricky a new one that she might wear the pants in the family

I remember that.
Funny how social media isn't always very social.

But yet everyone loves it ...that carwreck mentality hey .....

Yeah it would if it was counted, but the system should be fair, not based on where you are located?

I guess the other advantage for a corporate would be some sort of recognition/association with the player and club, and tax incentives?

The Raiders have had trouble attracting players for years. It’s why they had to resort to bringing over Pommies.

Players get sick of living their pretty quickly especially if they're used to Sydney or QLD

If you're winning it's fine but they've struggled and the cracks are appearing. They should be a top 6 side and are getting flogged and players are getting upset

Lot has to do with Canberra missing their window .....look at the 2012 WT's .....favourites to win the premiership ...but we missed our window ...had our own Pom go home ...lost our other 2nd row superstar .........few senior players got a bit longer in the tooth ....coach loses the players

A simple way to tidy up the whole TPA thing is to count ALL TPA's as part of the cap UNLESS the TPA is not aligned to a player's club (Meaning it follows the player wherever they go).

It would quickly separate legitimate TPA'S from cap rorting TPAs

Umm thats the currnet rule

Yup, their premiership window has slammed shut and the players are looking for a way out. Ricky might not survive it either

I don't think it'd stop him coming.

Tragedy what happened but his brother was held in high regard around here.

We'd take care of him.

What does the club do for his family or more specifically his niece? Family is very important to him as is being close to them (Beaudesert) he is in the “perfect place” words from his mouth & is about to sign a contract upgrade that will keep him at the Titans for another 5 years. In terms of the Tigers he has no feelings good or bad towards them. The Tigers having high regard for anyone or anything means nothing at this point of time they have no pull at all & are closer to bottom feeders rather than the top echelon of clubs. The club needs needs to gamble on young up & comers who are looking for an opportunity & hope they hit paydirt hopefully that is what Sheens & Kimmorley are going to bring to the table.

Didn't some one mention he's been told he can talk to other clubs ?

I don’t know where that comes from as he is going to be one of the faces for a community youth program the Titans are about to go public with.

Moeaki Fotuaika and Isaiah Papalili both have permission to talk to clubs November 1st

We need to get both in order to fix up our team, our pack lacks grunt and is incredibly lazy which is shown with how many times teams go through us up the middle.

Papalili is being paid like 250k and is due a hefty upgrade, eels may struggle to find the cash as they have both Gutherson, Mahoney and Matterson coming off contract the same time also while signing up Moses on a big money deal just recently and Nathan Brown too.

At 22, I’m honestly happy to throw 600-800k at him next year as he’s an exceptional player and the perfect candidate to partner Luciano in the second row.

Fotuakia will be the next best thing imo, has loads of talent and imo is the most underrated player in the league……

Pack would be complete

@iofthetigers

Hamiso Tabuai Fidow also has permission to talk to clubs November 1st

Strike centre with next level speed and just oozes X factor, with the sheer strength and meter eaters we have on the wing with both Nofoaluma and Ken it could cause a lot of space and open footy for “the hammer” and at ONLY 19 could develop to be a superstar player and grow with the rest of the young boys here…..

Cowboys look to be a shambles rn and have no direction at all, Tamolulo looks like he’s declining and will struggle to compete - so maybe a matter of money could be the driving force of getting his signature

Kenny Edwards facing ban for sticking his finger up Sam Kasiano’s bum (I assume during a match). I hope this will be added to Monday’s recruitment agenda for intense discussion.

I suppose you don't live in Sydney. Prefer Canberra... haha

I live in Southern Sydney. I have lived in the ACT as a young man. I would prefer the ACT.

Then why is TPJ supposedly banging on about the club he signs with, needs to meet his current TPA’s as well?

He’s not He wants the value of those paid in his salary..ie a guaranteed..
