Not signing a player because he wants too much is not a loss but a win.Paying overs is a certain way of having continued failure(spoon contention).

Nah it's a loss. Suggesting otherwise is sour grapes.

Reality is we simply have to pay more than every other club in order to get star players here. But getting rejected again and again doesn't make the pill any easier to swallow.

Not sour grapes at all,i would be spewing if we paid overs for him. There are not many players i would pay overs for and he is certainly not one of then.In a years time lets see who was right

Look he could turn out to be another Adam Blair but IMO he looks the business right now. Relying on hindsight in one year is a bit defeatist isn't it?

I disgree because at the price it is extremely high risk,he is not consistent in the slightest and has a poor attitude both on and off the field.I would have liked him to come here but at a cost that is relative to his risk. The doofus dogs are paying over the top amounts of cap money to someone who is quite likely to have issues on and off the field. At the moment he is suspended for being ill disciplined that is hardly hindsight ,in Sydney he is also less likely to be protected from his offield issues by the murdoch media.Being another Adam Blair would be the least likely of his problems.
To reiterate i would havr liked him here but only at a realistic price

Lol the rugby league and contracts is a funny animal. We have to face reality. We have no idea what happens during negotiations. But what we do is that there are 3 types of payments. The agreed salary 1. And then there is the TPA 2. Both of which are registered with the NRL and then there is the 3rd component. The brown paper bag. Well this component dare I say is hidden and not disclosed and is most cases the difference between getting a signature or not!

For sure. Russell Crowe's Nanna must bake great scones because any time a player visits her joint to discuss a contract they emerge with it being a done deal......for a supposedly greatly reduced wage. She must make spacecakes.

The appointment of Laundy and Trent Barrett at the same time was a shrewd move by the Bulldogs. With Barrett being the face of the Dogs it creates a narrative that players wanna come to the Dogs for less $ to be coached by him.

And he has proved to be a dud coach yet again. If the Bulldogs don't make the 8 next year Barrett will be very lucky to still have a job. Laundy is obviously offering players some pretty fancy 'incentives' to sign up.

He looks the business right now ? He is suspended again will be week 20 of suspension in 3 yrs. So if you take the average the 3 yr deal is effectively a 2 yr deal for 2.2m. Does he look a $1.1m a season player given he is playing backrow for the 2nd worst team in the comp and previous yr worst team in the comp and has never played origin.

No doubt he has some skill on a footy field but he has never shown value for money.

Also has a great reputation of partying with bikies - quality human

People’s thoughts on this guy
Off contract at the end of the year
Good replacement for BJ and Roberts

Sharks fans call him "Shitroti".

Yep rubbish. Slow as a pregnant wombat. We are eyeing up Okunbor

Just as bad. He’s shite

Surely no truth to Okunbor. Bulldogs have the worst backline in the competition and he can hardly make the FG side.

The only signings we’re likely to sign will be other clubs discards, so Okunbor makes sense (unless another club shows mild interest)

You do realise TPJ is another club's discard right? As is Corey Allan, as well as Kyle Flanagan.

So what did I say was wrong?

Well aren't you criticising the club for getting other club's discards but also saying how awesome the dogs recruitment plan is?

JAC and Burton aren’t discards. And TPJ wants out (and the Broncos are obliging).

Dogs recruitment has been proactive and Gould is an excellent appointment. If the signings gel they’ll be a vastly superior team to this year.

We’re more of a known quantity. With the exception of a couple of ESL players we’ve signed no one. We can go into another season without any expectation.

TPJ doesn't want out, Broncos are so happy for him to leave, they'll be paying part of his salary next year.

They will need to be vastly superior because as bad as we're going, they are EIGHT points behind us.

We're not finished yet. Laurie signed with us in November. AD signed in January. Be Patient.

Patient is a word that needs to be banned. We’ve been waiting since 2011. Stick your patience.

People are so used to losing on here it’s almost become accepted.

Nothing wrong with that, I know I am. You probably are too, it’s expected at this point. As I have said before though, I remember telling people to be patient in 2014. What happens if still haven’t made the finals by 2025-26, are there still going to be some who scold others for not being patient. What a BS term to use on supporters who haven’t seen finals for 10 years, and only 3 years in 21.

I’m over being patient and accepting losing every year. It’s just one cock up after another with this club. They’re embarrassing.

Then stop following the side. That's your only other option. Truly, a fan can piss and moan about everything the club does, big or small, all the way from recruitment down to haircuts, but it doesn't really achieve anything.

Mate, don’t tell me who or what I support, ok? I’ve followed this club since it’s inception and I followed Balmain before that. I’ve given enough time and money over the years to have my say.

Just because I’m not a complete shill like you doesn’t mean my opinion isn’t valid. I’m sick to death of your ‘defend the club at all costs’ rubbish. Get off your bloody high horse.

Yeah …. But you keep on saying it over and over and bloody over again.
Like an never ending Groundhog Day!

And i'll keep saying it over and over again until it sinks in.

The trouble is it's become a meaningless mantra; a broken record - just like this club. When people disagree with you , you abuse them.
Try to make some more positive contributions and not repeat the same negativity 30,000,000 times a day.

Mikey, Avo's contributions to this forum are insightful and enjoyable. This is a forum and we can all post as long as it is respectful.

You may find constant negativity enjoyable but I don't. Anyway, I've made it so I don't have to read his posts and you don't have to read mine when I react to his.

Exactly right.

It frustrates me when the media keep saying we “missed out again”. I think the truth is we missed Latrell and Arrow.

TPJ, JAC, Finucane all wanted ridiculous money, some player managers did this after agreeing in principle. This is because they wanted to go to the highest bidder.

Reading between the lines Hartigan appears very stubborn when it comes to paying more than he thinks a player is worth. We saw that with Aloaia.

No one really knows the truth, but I do think this is a lot closer to the truth than the rubbish the media keeps pushing.

Interesting on SEN Jimmy Smith yesterday was bagging out Michael Chammas for picking on WT and his co presenter Katie Brown sticker up for her mate Michael chammas. Apparently yesterday afternoon Chammas rang Jimmy Smith and told him he is definitely getting mail from inside the club. Jimmy Smith then said on air this morning the discussion was amicable between he and Chammas after he had a go at him yesterday.
It does sound like someone in the club is tipping off some of the journo's
