Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Roosters signing up Watson there is less of an opportunity there now for Egan Butcher. I think it’s a positive for the tigers as it may force his hand to leave. We need to keep on signing young talented players under the salary cap radar . That way we have more room to go after quality marquee players when they come on the market.

Correctomundo!!!

Watson, 25, has agreed to terms on a deal worth around
$450,000 less than what he could have accepted by opting
to remain with the Knights.

Tell me there is NO BROWN PAPER BAGS in that deal!!!

No brown paper bags. Transactions of this type are very different nowadays.

I'd take a pay cut to go to roosters... he'll probably win a premiership look like a superstar and get a massive deal elsewhere after that. A lot of that extra $450k is because they offered him an extra year to stay at Knights

Of course most players would go to another club for 450 k less .. nothing to see here ?

How good of a golfer is Watson?

Exactly. His market value is probably around $400-450k a year anyway so it's basically the same offer. For equal money or near equal money I'd rather play at the Roosters than the Knights. He'll also be in contention for the 14 jumper in origin, especially after Koroisau's antics last year. Each origin game you play is $30,000 so if he's looking at it that way, it's a no brainer and that's not even taking into account the fact he'll probably be better off come his next contract negotiation as you said.

Tigers announce Egan butcher or Heilum Luki please

A lot of folks are getting excited about the younger Butcher. I have half a houseful of Rooster fans here, and so watch their games.
How do I put this . . . if you like that Mikaele has a mistake or 16 in him each game, you're gonna love Butcher.

What a stupid and reckless comment. The kid has had 2 errors all season - both in the most recent game.

If you're going to be so ignorant as to judge a kid based on a single game at least have the decency to warn people of your lazy-bias first.

Realistically he's earning just about the same per year

So why is it everytime the Rorters sign a player they always state that they got him at unders .. of course they do .. because they get a massive brown paper bag each week to compensate their salary .. !!

And why can the NRL see through this bulldust crap the Rorters keep dishing out .. !! Its so bloody obvious that the NRL are in on it .. its embarrassing .. !!

Where is that quote from? If it’s not made up it doesn’t meet the NRL requirement for clubs to pay fair market value.
