Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Maumalo and Nofo, aren't the fastest but they definitely aren't the slowest.

Nofo, we only see run sideways usually though.

Both are tidy finishers and are capable of doing their job...

Nofo needs to get back to his best. The lengthy contract has appeared to kill his motivation and desire.

With some better centres inside them, they could both take their game to the next level.

100% wingers just hang around footballers, we need footballers for them to hang around.

Get Thompson and pinch someone like papali’i from Parra and watch us go.

Thompson would be a perfect buy.

Respectfully disagree.

At 800k plus thats marquee money for average forward.

If he's worth that then Stefano and the rest deserve the same at least to stay.

100% no thanks. Let yhe Dogs suffer

You’re saying he’s an average forward?
We must watch different games

Some people just watch the game and judge individuals purely on wins and losses. Others just look at the stat line. When you’re in a really bad side that’s not the way to go. This bloke at his age ticks a lot of boxes for us. Toughness being #1.

Thompson is a good player. There is a limited cap. As the Storm demonstrated last night with JAC and Papenhuyzen, outright pace wins games. We need a lot of it before we need another prop. Prop is the one position we have well covered.

Remember this time last year when we signed one of the fastest players in the game...
Have barely seen him break out of a canter...

Should call him "Jimmy can Jog"

Doing their job is not good enough. If we want to be like the Storm, we need to look at their play book. Pace, Pace and more pace.

Beau Ryan looked like super star franchise player on the wing, falling over the line and making some easy hit ups.

If Nofo can get back to his best or 2020 form, I'm happy with these two going forward...

As @GNR4LIFE said, 4 year contract... Get use to Nofo and his lack of effort.

To use your pace you first need to create space, which comes from momentum. The Storm forwards are like clock work. Big Stef is doing a fine job but we can’t rely on him alone. Him and big Thommo in tandem would improve us immensely. Then if we can add a classy back rower and centre too. We’re getting there.

Hazem El Masri, Wolf man, Curtis Rona, Robert Jennings, many an ordinary winger has looked good behind a strong forward pack.

I think it's more about the lack of genuine strike power on the edges than either props or fast wingers. We must have one of the most average edges in the game.

Need a strike centre and another edge back rower.

We have some options. Move AD to the centres. Gildart/Talau/Roberts may do the job in the centres.

Hopefully Blore and Tuilagi come good.

I agree with you though that our edges are ordinary and need a massive improvement. It's just not that bad. I'd love to get a quality player like Thompson.

Centre is definitely weak for us.
The mentioned players are not in anyway strike players.

Beau Ryan had Chris Lawrence, Benji, Tim Moltzen and Tim Simona playing with him. All were quick.. We have Brooks and Laurie. We have a huge issue with lack of pace.

I reckon you've got this right. We have two decent wingers but they are slow and they will and do get caught out with pace.

I think one quality prop would help us though. I think some pace out wide would help us more.

I think we need both a good prop and some pace in the backline. We should have the money to address both issues hopefully.

Storm have always been the blue print to a successful, strong team.....

Thr Olam/JAC side is very strong.
The other side though? Nothing too impressive.

Reimis probably has the same skill as Maumalo.

I'm not disagreeing though.
I'd love some more speed and strike in the backline.

No reason Laurie can't be our own version of Papz.

It's a shame Fitzgibbon flopped and didn't work out to be our JAC.

The good old days.
100%

I wouldn't mind looking at some of the Dragons up and comers.

Tyrell Sloane, 1 of Danes best mates.
He looks like he could become a JAC clone on the wing.

Facts.

Been checking him out since announced.
His attacking game a worry.

Don’t sign that bulldogs prop, I forget his name.

He is contracted til end of 2023 as I understand and wants to secure his long term future? reeks of ‘I want to get my pay sorted and slack off’

He is only 25 though.

Probably still hungry and wanting to prove himself int the NRL.

James Graham played hard till the very end.
The British forwards are a different beast.

madge had interview on SEN this arvo and he said he wants a Big Prop at club next year as a preferred signing

What else the boss say

hey Tony Soprano, it was a great interview, talked about how excited he was about the young kids coming through, how the trip away has made the team tighter, looking for a front rower in particular, in regards to recruitment there wasnt much out there and were not going to pay overs like they had in the past but if they find someone good they will go after them. He payed homage to Moses Mbye and what a good team player he was. Also mentioned looking for more leaders at club like Adam Doughie

Thanks mate yeah ended up finding a link.

He Seems keen to find a few experienced SOO/finals playing players for the right price. Question is who tho?

To exacerbate the issue, many want to add a snail in Hastings to the 6 jersey.
