I couldn’t care less about someone’s opinion or observation on Hartigan especially when relatives are involved and at another club.

It can’t be denied that he has been responsible for signing many talented young players into our system. Surely no-one can dispute that.

What Hartigan is being blamed for is not getting top NRL signatures. When he came here it was publicised that he would get our salary cap in order and not get us caught paying way overs again. Surely that is another tick for him?

We will struggle to sign marquee players because the other successful clubs will bid high for them anyway and until we are making finals ala winning, they won’t come here.

We are on the right track with the good young players we have we just need to find the right NRL experience to put with them at the right price. It hasn’t worked with Tamou, BJ, JTJ and others but they aren’t on long term deals so we keep trying.

My biggest worry is do we gave the right coach for this scenario? Personally, I don’t think Madge is that guy.

Excellent post mate.

Sorry mate, I know you're a fan of AH but I'm yet to see what he brings to the club. We've signed a few good juniors on his watch but not one quality NRL player and that's what we need to be competitive and attract better players. He won't pay overs but we get no-one because he won't pay overs. We need players of the quality of TPJ and better. If media reports were correct he offered Finucane a two year contract. What was the point of that when Finucane wanted four and might have settled for three. Why offer a guy a contract you know he won't accept. Our efforts to sign quality NRL players have been an embarrassment and that's all down to AH.

Yes, Finucane wanted 4 years, we offered 2 years - good move by the Tigers, he has been bog average since signing with the Sharks - told old for a 4 year gig, would have been another Packer job.

With respect, that makes no sense. If we offered him a contract, we wanted him. If we thought he wasn't up to it we shouldn't have offered him anything.

yet as a club we saw Nofoaluma's worth as 4 years, well done wests tigers

We have done some pretty stupid things, although if we didn't resign Nofa, who else would want to come here, remember no named players want to come to this club, and I guess you can't blame them........a very embarrassing situation:disappointed_relieved:

We are behind the eight ball already for next season already. With Doueihi and Talau out with ACLs our English replacements Hastings and Gildart just fill their spots til they get back. There is no improvement to the current squad. Our recruitment team must look at backs for next year. We are so light on here. We don’t have a back up fullback now our centres extremely weak halves poor. This is before starting on the pack which needs a ball playing lock front rower with mongrel and defensive second rower. The current squad lacks determination has no resilience or drive just goes through the motions.
To be a successful team the benchmark every season is defence usually the top 2 teams in defence fight out the premiership.
We have had a very poor defence as a club for atleast ten years. Until we improve our defence in general we won’t be making the semifinals for years which hurts me to say as a longtime supporter.

I look at teams like Melb and Penrith as obviously the bench mark, even Roosters who at various stages this year have had their guns out injured long term or rested at times and they literally don't miss a beat. Roosters in particular absolutely ravaged by injury and had to replace the injured with park footballers at times yet I don't see any excuses from them.

Melb had Papi, Munster, Nelson and Grant out for long periods at stages throughout the season and Penrith with Cleary, Luai and Edwards at stages yet again didn't miss a beat. These teams could literally throw out their 3rd string team and it looks better than the Tigers on paper and performs better as well.

Unfortunately the Tigers really need upgrading in most positions. The cash is available but are the options out there any better? I'd potentially look at Tariq Sims for a couple of years, a quality big body prop, definitely a decent centre/wing with some pace but again the list of available is slimming by the week.

An average end to an average year
Some observations from the last few weeks

- cini should be signed to a nsw cup contract , he never regained confidence, he lead nsw cup with running meters and had a great game against at George, still young needs time in reggies

- we need a hooker, if brooks stays he should be in the 9, Simpkin needs more time and liddle had a full year to show us he ain't it

- nofo looks extremely frustrated with the team and his own form, if he also stays I expect a better year

- kepeoa will have a break out year next year, big body has speed can break tackles, his eyes are fixed he will be better

- fonua pole hopefully gets moved onto a developmental contract and makes a debut after round 11 next year, from storm system absolute beast

- the jet resign on min $$, and prey ?

- give the team to Hastings, natural leader on the field, has that Win at all cost attitude / arrogance that the tigers haven't had in a number 7 ever

Kepaoa is an outstanding centre talent. He's big and fast as well as having good ball skills.

I didn't even have to check who this post came from, the number 1 Brooks and Kepaoa supporter. It looks like you need a reminder.

5 games, 0 tries, 7 errors, 65% tackle efficiency, and about 3 bombed tries I remember just off the top of my head.

Hopefully we can move him on in the off season with a number of others.

The fact that the club cannot attract topline players is a big concern, you need that experience and class of a few players to mesh with the Team, similar to Melbourne, a few stars and well coached hard working players. Until we can attract a few key signings, it's going to be the same year after year. But I can also understand the club not wanting to pay overs. Is it the coach, club and money ? I personally think a combination of the 3, hope Tim Sheens can sort out the issues.

Does anyone still believe there are enough players to go around, with the salary cap operating in its current format to allow teams like us to strengthen our roster?
We have money to spend and are forced to spend it on players to fill the numbers not the players we really need or want - who all are picked up by stronger clubs for obvious reasons- re yesterdays performance.
Our only hope is with junior development which means more years of FG pain - who ever the coach is.

FULLBACK: Tex Hoy (Knights)

WING: Edrick Lee (Knights), Blake Ferguson (Eels)

CENTRES: Dylan Walker (Sea Eagles), Josh Dugan (Sharks)

HALVES: Corey Norman (Dragons), Tyrone May (Panthers), Tanah Boyd (Titans), Will Smith (Eels)

LOCK: Tyrone Peachey (Titans), Max King (Storm)

SECOND-ROW: John Asiata (Broncos), Jack Gosiewksi (Sea Eagles),

PROP: Aaron Woods (Sharks), Dylan Napa (Bulldogs), Mark Nicholls (Rabbitohs)

HOOKER: Mitch Rein

Players off contract 2021 by position. The kitchens pretty bare

Surely nicholls has signed elsewhere hence why souths haven't re-signed and waiting for season over to announce

Adam Kieran is good

Adam Keighran and Drew Hutchison. Are they on contract for next year? They've been great for the Chooks. Keighran excellent at centre and Hutchison is playing at a level that Brooks could only dream of

Keighran can kick goals even when they don’t go between the posts.

What was that about...
Looked like a miss but was confirmed ?

Why aren't the goal posts black?
Wouldnt that make it easier to see what side of the post a white ball has gone?

Something like this? @MAGPIES1963
Or if the posts are too bright then they should turn off the the floodlights ?

Yep good one @FinestTigers thats the idea.
And having black posts makes them look a bit dramatic.

or a net like nfl?

YES, great idea @nuggetron

I have supported Madge all year but putting Cini at fullback was absurd and then replacing him with Nofoaluma was insanity. I thought Amone would be good for us but he isn’t up to it. Please tell me it’s true Brooks for Tapine.. Hastings is far superior to Brooks

Cini at fullback was always going to end in tears but when he put Nofo at fullback, he didnt really have any other options.

I'll give Madge a let off here, he had his first, second and potentially third choice fullback in Kepaoa all injured. if anything yesterday outlined that Cini is not a first grader and shouldn't be retained and Nofo should never deputise as a fullback either. Logen Dillon is a must keep, especially with M'Bye out the door.

He's definitely big and fast, the ball skills I have yet to see. I think he is capable if he can get a decent stretch in firsts.

I think we’ll get the spoon if we roll that out next year. Brooks is cooked and Hastings needs to prove he’s an NRL player. We should be aggressively try and get a decent half for next year.
