No sour grapes here. My son was a solid 20s player but was never going to cut it at NRL level. I witnessed Hartigan implement a program for 12,13 and 14 year olds. It was thrown out 18 months later and Brian Gray returned to junior management to undo the mess. I then saw first hand Hartigan coach. The training standards he and his assistant Anasta had wouldn’t cut it in park footy. Lucky the Roosters had Tony Barnes and Artie Kitinas to fix up the rubbish Hartigan had coached into players. Also for the record Latrell wasn’t signed by Hartigan his manager at the time Steve Deacon dealt directly with Peter O’Sullivan as did my son. I am also pretty sure Manu was signed by O’Sullivan after a recommendation from Craig Walker (kiwi and roosters welfare man at the time. My original post said clearly he shouldn’t be near our top squad and I stand by that on facts and my own observations. He should only be involved in a junior recruitment/scout level. He is in way over his head. Nice bloke but not a GM.

So as an example of why he is not a good GM, you explained that he is not a good coach?

Hartigan presided over 2 separate junior programs at Roosters and both got flicked and changed after 18 months. The last straw for Roosters was give him a coaching job and I seen first hand it failed. Tigers rejected Matt Cameron for that role and rightly so but Mat has far more runs on the board than Hartigan. Lee and Politis are extremely tight and maybe just maybe Hartigan got his nose in the door that way.

I couldn’t care less about someone’s opinion or observation on Hartigan especially when relatives are involved and at another club.

It can’t be denied that he has been responsible for signing many talented young players into our system. Surely no-one can dispute that.

What Hartigan is being blamed for is not getting top NRL signatures. When he came here it was publicised that he would get our salary cap in order and not get us caught paying way overs again. Surely that is another tick for him?

We will struggle to sign marquee players because the other successful clubs will bid high for them anyway and until we are making finals ala winning, they won’t come here.

We are on the right track with the good young players we have we just need to find the right NRL experience to put with them at the right price. It hasn’t worked with Tamou, BJ, JTJ and others but they aren’t on long term deals so we keep trying.

My biggest worry is do we gave the right coach for this scenario? Personally, I don’t think Madge is that guy.

We've signed a few good juniors on his watch but not one quality NRL player and that's what we need to be competitive and attract better players. He won't pay overs but we get no-one because he won't pay overs. We need players of the quality of TPJ and better. If media reports were correct he offered Finucane a two year contract. What was the point of that when Finucane wanted four and might have settled for three. Why offer a guy a contract you know he won't accept. Our efforts to sign quality NRL players have been an embarrassment and that's all down to AH.

I have supported Madge all year but putting Cini at fullback was absurd and then replacing him with Nofoaluma was insanity. I thought Amone would be good for us but he isn’t up to it. Please tell me it’s true Brooks for Tapine.. Hastings is far superior to Brooks

It doesn't.

Right, ok. Let me dumb it down for you. If we’re interested in a player, why not sign them for 10 years? Because there’s no way that player is going to have the same value in year 10 as opposed to year 1. So obviously the club didn’t see value in Finucane past a second year.
