It was short sighted to not go huge after him and Hynes.
Those two would've brought change with them.

Yep. Probably one of the top 5 players in the whole comp and still improving.

I’m skeptical of both. Let’s revisit next year when they’re not in the storm system

Wow it’s almost getting to the stage that we would sign anyone if they would be willing to come here , Woodsy would better than most our forwards, Tariq if available would be huge ..Peachey is very versatile and Burns would add some speed , let’s sign them up

I always liked Tariq. Strong edge back-rower with a good late offload.
I don’t know Dragons salary cap situation tho. Remembering they have offloaded Frizell, McInnes etc. They’ve made a few purchases. They must have a plan.

The NRL media are such a joke. You have people like Rothfield and Kent who make things up to see how much they can influence the game. Then Hooper, Crawley, and Chammas just harvest clicks by digging into teams. Then you have the dregs at Zero tackle etc who just repost what others have reported. In my opinion, it creates a Chinese whispers that everyone starts believing and becomes the narrative.

Unfortunately also, 99.9% of those articles get posted and discussed in here. So this forum exacerbates the very issue.

You would have said the same thing about James Tamou last year. Setting standard etc. and hoping to get the most out of him before his body inevitably slows down.

I personally think it's a bit of a myth that you can take an admirable Storm player, plonk them into another system and think that one person will set a new standard. Storm didn't release Finucane for fun, they let him go because they weren't prepared to match salaries and he was looking for one last big payday. I'm always worried about players looking for that final payday, because often it's a sign they are already on their way out.

How about we sign a young player with a better skillset than Finucane, who can also set good standards?

Because we have all of Hynes' positions covered? You are competing with Sharks who let both their recognised first-start halves go (Johnston and The Chad).

Funny that. Player from successful club with hard edged coach has positive things to say about hard edged coach that has worked with successful clubs. Compare that to the perpetual losers on our books.

I agree. There's the narrative "Tigers can't attract XYZ" but we never truly know what Tigers offered compared to other clubs. If all offers were 100% equal, then yes it can be said that Tigers can't attract players, but we'll never know.

And I agree that in the current market there's a lack of top talent, which unfortunately means wary clubs like Tigers aren't going to get much for their value-minded approaches. Not when you are competing against sides like Dogs and Sharks who are more concerned about short-term impacts - basically all of the Tigers possible targets in 2021 went to Dogs or Sharks, and all of the Tigers targets for 2020 went to Souths?

Sharks are desperate to convert their roster into a finals team under a new coach, and Dogs are desperate to get off the bottom of the ladder. They may both get burned by their spending sprees, though I think Sharks have been the more sensible.

We signed Stefano a full season before be came - 18mths ago.

We got AD because Souths needed to free up a spot & cash for Latrell - someone competing against us.

Laurie we signed for next season but had to swap Momo for him to get him this year as we couldn’t wait.

Seriously we are bone dry on new recruits.

We have no one signed for next year, zilch, nadda no one. The only NRL club in that position and we are bottom of the table. No player in a top 30 squad is lining up to come here.

We have had cash both for this year and alot more for next and even more the year after.

The pool might be reduced but that hasn’t stopped the Broncos, Bulldogs, Warriors, Cowboys and Sharks to recruit players - NRL quality and young kids as well.

The reality is what it is - our current methods aren’t attractive and players prefer to play at other clubs over ours.
