Brett Finch pointed out the folly of not signing Finucane.
He admitted that Finucane would probably be cooked by the 4th year but by then you've had 3 years of him setting standards and holding other players to that standard. His signing also would've set in motion the signing of other players reluctant to join the club.

It was short sighted to not go huge after him and Hynes.
Those two would've brought change with them.

I’m still mystified why there was no play made for Hynes. Pretty incompetent.

Because we have all of Hynes' positions covered? You are competing with Sharks who let both their recognised first-start halves go (Johnston and The Chad).

Hynes could be a ball playing centre like Jamie Lyon, but better...

McInness is a 9 that could've been our 13.

We dropped the ball on both signings.

Yep...

Should have signed both of these players up...

The issue is we can’t attract either.

Really ? You think if we offered them more money on longer term contracts they wouldn't come.

We clearly have problems attracting players on fair money but we've signed Stef, Laurie and AD recently who are all in my opinion quality players.

I think part of the problem is the lack of talent in the league. It means players like Finucane, Hynes and TPJ have heaps of options. I don't even see those players as marquee players.

We signed Stefano a full season before be came - 18mths ago.

We got AD because Souths needed to free up a spot & cash for Latrell - someone competing against us.

Laurie we signed for next season but had to swap Momo for him to get him this year as we couldn’t wait.

Seriously we are bone dry on new recruits.

We have no one signed for next year, zilch, nadda no one. The only NRL club in that position and we are bottom of the table. No player in a top 30 squad is lining up to come here.

We have had cash both for this year and alot more for next and even more the year after.

The pool might be reduced but that hasn’t stopped the Broncos, Bulldogs, Warriors, Cowboys and Sharks to recruit players - NRL quality and young kids as well.

The reality is what it is - our current methods aren’t attractive and players prefer to play at other clubs over ours.

I suspect our methods don’t stretch the boundaries (with third party and other similar perks) as far as a lot of other clubs…

the problem is we rate Adam Douhie as a star he would barely make any of the top 6 teams
Laurie is good but raw
Brooks is exposed
Nofo is a joke
Stefano up and coming
we have no stars in this team
we need one kill a big name

He makes all of them lol.

We have nothing to "sell" to potential recruits except $$$..and its still nowhere near t enuff ,even for even good players let alone marquees!!
Its why weve lost our best two forwards in recent seasons, and why we get left at the alter by targetted recruits
We have no finals possibility dream...no fun playing environment as portrayed by Tigertown..and what appears to be a lack of discipline in the playing group which will possibly limit rep chances.
Need some major changes in the culture, which is achievable with some leadership changes in both coaching and playing group.
I think it will happen

Melbourne: Centres, they'd move Reimis to the wing.
Penrith: Centres, ahead of Momirovski.
Souths: Centres, Gagai to wing.
Manly: Centres, ahead of Parker.
Roosters: Five-Eighth, ahead of Hutchison
Parra: Five-Eighth or Centres, ahead of Brown or Opacic/Blake

Easily makes every Top 6 side.

I prefer him to a lot of the 6's in those sides though, I'm just thinking hypothetically. I prefer Doueihi to Foran for example.

Roosters due to injuries maybe
parramatta maybe instead of brown
I did not mention top 6 as a centre I mentioned as a 6 or 7
he is not a top number 6 he is a centre at best

Foran is ageing, however still mobile

He's also just turned 23 and played about 15 games at #6 in the NRL. With his size, skillset and work ethic, he's every chance of making it to an elite level. The only concern are the injuries - two ACLs by his age is worrying.

I won't cop that garbage, "we don't have anything to sell possible receuits"

Our playing group, for the most part... are a close knit group and seem to get along really well.

Our COE is going to be amazing.
Our juniors coming through are and have always been a talented bunch.

We have amazing, passionate, loyal fans...

The only thing we don't have, is on field success.
A few pieces need to fall into place to change that.

It only takes one player to get it cracking.

We missed a few, in the recruits the sharks signed recently.... but yeah, things won't pick up until we start spending some cash on players.

I actually think McInnes is the biggest miss of all these guys over the last 18 months or so, given where he plays. Coming into his prime as well.
