Interesting @chiranth first endorsement I’ve heard of Stains featuring some knowledge of his early playing years as a fullback.

#4 Charlie Staines: Seen this kid play throughout his juniors! Extremely fast and powerful, great goal kicker and a tremendously skilful FLB. Just an allround class act! Would be an amazing pickup.

Most of us have just heard the Phil Gould endorsements and have seen the Ferrari hit top gear on the wing for Penrith.
One thing, he doesn’t look powerful. Was he a bigger fullback in his juniors comparatively?

As Gus says, speed is power. Paps ain’t a strong guy but being so fast makes you hard to handle.

I didn’t know Staines was a goal kicker makes me want him even more

Pass on Stains…

To be fair he is a fullback playing on the wing I would like to see him have a few games at fullback before making judgment but he has definatly been a failure on the wing they should have played Bret naden he would have done a far better job

Had a good debut and game or two after.

Has some speed but looks uncoordinated and very weak + light.

Probably not ready for grade and yeah, probably wouldn't make the team if Edwards played.

How bad was his game though, as an individual? Last night. Probably worst on field.

I just love seeing Penrith lose, sorry guys ?

Elliot is 27 and has just played 100 games.
If he was on low wage for squad depth sure.
If he was viewed as a starting forward no thanks.

He isn’t that great and comes from a losing culture. He is the signing we should be avoiding as an option for a starting spot.

Would take Simms over him anyday of the week

There’s that reported player target again.
Under 30 and between 100-150 games.
I smell a signing.
Don’t forget just last year we were extremely close to signing him, his loyalty of the bulldogs was what got had him staying.
I doubt he will cost $500k a season either, probably closer to $300-$350. Elliot is a real worker with also the added ability of ball playing would he be a lock or backrow I’m not sure but given his past indiscretions and his will to atone for them he could become a leader.

Yep i’m all for Elliott joining Tigers , he can add plenty , the bloke is a solid footy player .I believe if Madge wants him onboard then we should be onboard as supporters

I’m gonna propose a theory. Feel free to disagree. But I think the number 1 reason why players like BJ and Roberts failed is out of laziness. I don’t think Elliot is lazy

I agree with you on BJ. I don't believe Roberts is lazy. He lacked opportunity in our backline.

Elliot is not lazy. If it was a one-off occurrence I would be interested. But it is repeated.

Tbf, he’s been an idiot, but hasn’t broken any laws.

But that behaviour has the potential to further undermine a fractured dressing shed.

Number 1 reason why Joey didn’t work is the speed of the game didn’t allow for his lack of fitness at centre.
Number 1 reason why JTJ didn’t have the same impact in the past is his body is starting to break down, he was never a big guy, but over built his frame, I don’t think his body handled the amount of muscle he put on years back. No lean muscle mass. Makes him ineffective.

That’s a crystal ball outcome based on a proposed future scenario. If he rehabs properly and puts all his focus into becoming a leader there is a really good footballer there.
Just not sure what position to play him, lock or backrow. I think until our defence improves Alex has to be somewhere in the starting side.

I think when signing players we have to remember if a player like Simms has 2 to 3 options and let’s say Tigers 2 years at $ 400 k and Parra , Manly , Bulldogs , at $ 300/350 most likely he heads to one of them due to the fact 2 are playing semi final footy and the other has just splashed out on a pretty tidy rebuild in the dogs , this would also go the same way with Elliot , Scott is different he will probably grab a start anywhere to stay in the game , Woods is in the same boat , some say no way we want this guy or that guy but remember we need at least 3 solid players to lift us up a bit and help out all those younger guys coming through , young guys will leave if we don’t get someone half decent to come on board , me I would Target Simms , Scott , Woods and Elliot , these guys are better bar Scott than what we have ( Amone , Tommy M , Joffa , and we don’t have good centres , add Hastings and we don’t look so bad

I think we need woodsy guys. He's a leader and he'll hopefully turn the media stories into something more upbeat.

Him wanting to come home gives us a positive story that we desperately need to help break the back of recruiting. Not a marque signing that we really need, but someone who could talk about how much he loves the club.

Looking at benji last night, I honestly think we got that one wrong.

How can his history undermine our future? Most clubs have a few crazies?

Anyway Madge will sort him out.

How? He wouldn’t have played any better this year in our mediocre squad. He has a lot of cover at Souths to hide his deficiencies.

I would tend to believe repeated past behaviour is a good indicator of future behaviour.

Elliott isn't really that good to accept such a risk. If he was a significantly better player he may be worth the risk.

Why do you think the US Army has a non fraternization policy?

Among a number of reasons, it can create an actual or clearly predictable adverse impact on discipline, authority, morale or the ability of the command to accomplish a mission.
