What’s funny about Woods, apart from going backwards since he left. After we played the Dogs in 2017 he told Tolman that Tolman was wearing his jersey. Then Woods goes to the Dogs, lasts half a season and is shipped off to the Sharks. Tolman remains. Then Tolman moves to the Sharks and Woods is told he’s not wanted, and again Tolman remains.

It feels like people think we only need 2 props in our squad. You need 6 or 7 props in a 30 man squad. The question especislly at 200k a year isnt whether your rather Woods over Mikelle or Twal or Stefano but would you rather Woods over what we git out of Packer or Amone this year or would get next year out of Amone or another NSW cup level prop next year.

My 2c is that when we had props out injured or suspended which you usally do that Woods would be great depth. He is also passionate, experienced and is known for being the first guy at training in the morning doing the extras - I remember John Morris saying he would arrive in the darkness and Woodsy would often be their already when no one else was. That is what a team like ours without enough leaders and without enough expeirence needs as a 6th prop. If he out performs the others and makes our nrl team then they need to work harder

It was the same argument for Benji coming back - at the right price and if he understood his place in the team, it would be worthwhile.

I was thinking the other day that the perfect 14 would be a forward that can also play hooker.

Cameron Mciness would've been perfect, starting 13 and moving to 9 to allow the hooker a break... however he is now signed, sealed and delivered to the sharks.

Examples are players like Radley, Cheese or going back to guys like Elijah Taylor and Lewis Brown.

Lock, second rower types than can and have also played hooker also.

Long story, short...
If we can move on from forum favourites... Nofo, Brooks, Mbye(Gone) and now Liddle, with news of him being a detractor from the coache.. I'd be all in on moving Liddle on and backing young Jake Simpkin... then bringing in, the forward/hooker type for that 14 role.

The guy I'm thinking of is Ray Stone.
Seeing him play 9 for Parra right now in the semi final and he's definitely doing a job.
Great defense and hits hard.
Has a crisp pass.
And he's off contract I believe.

It won't go away, he really doesn't want to go to the Super League & not many other suitors out there, if it did come around it will be for a maximum 200-250k on 1 year.

According to Wilkpedia he is 183 cm height and weighs 85 Kg. Maybe he is not as robust as some centres but if he is paired with a good defensive centre such as Scott it certainly would be a good balance.

Woods isn't terrible but what's the point? It's not a future signing and we're not competing next year, so there's no reason to sign him.

Clear out our bad contracts, top-up/upgrade our good players and spend the money on midseason buyouts for good players being forced out of teams. Not too hard.
