Keen to know myself... Fingers crossed we know this week

The Pom has indicated that Madge would hold his coaching position.

The Pom might be off the mark on this one.

I hope so mate, Ciraldo is the bloke we need, even though you don't like the idea of a rookie coach. He has Penrith as the best defensive team in the NRL, he has respect among the players, and he could attract some quality players. He basically is everything Madge is not, and we need

Barrett had the Panthers attack looking pretty good too…didn’t transcend to the Bulldogs.

Barrett can attract players, Madge could only dream of, and Penriths attack revolved around Cleary, Penriths defence doesn't revolve around one player, so completely different

Is it Barrett who can attract them, or the Dogs? Is it Madge who can’t attract players or is it Wests Tigers?

I think it's clearly the WT Club. The leadership, management, resources and structures of the Club; a reluctantly merged, partisan, divided and unaccountable Board that runs the joint is the problem.

Jack Manning-Bancroft got panned by many on here for exposing the artificial and convenient nature of the WT narrative since the merger. It's superficial rubbish. Three-word slogans that even Tony Abbott would baulk at.

By contrast, did you read the comments of Trent Robinson after the Roosters were booted out ingloriously at the hands of Manly? He said that the resilience, courage and efforts of the 2021 squad would strengthen the Club into the future; not the "team", not "him" as coach, but the Club.

That's what we don't have. And, it's got nothing to do with the coach.
It's the shambolic, incoherent and selfish leadership of the Chair, CEO and Board that stifles any positive future for the Club, in it's current state.

If Madge is gone, it will be interesting what the club does for the next coach I.e open the purse strings, that they never afforded Madge.

Is this a joke, he got to offer Latrell over a million a year, JAC, TPJ, Finucane got offered good coin, there were more, he had money, but no decent player wanted to play under Madge

If we had landed Latrell we would have had no money for anybody else. It would be one star (who is often lazy) surrounded by a team of minimum wagers. It's a different story now that Mbye and Packer are off the books.

The point was Madge did have money and quite a bit to buy players, he couldn't land any, so he had to get young players

How goods it going to be when the new coach comes in and all the superstar players come flooding in to sign with the Tigers!

Madge can't get solid first graders, let alone super stars, so any new coach who can attract solid first graders is an upgrade from where Madge has us placed

Maumalo, Doueihi, Laurie, Stef. Madge signed our four most consistent players.

He was hamstrung by horrendous decisions made before he got here. Our highest paid players signed for four years, did not play often and when they did they were crap. What superstar player wanted to come here and play with Russell Packer and Mbye? It ain’t Madge.

Then why did the red hot souths players turn on him, why could he only get them to 12th in 2016, and 12th in 2017, why did souths sack him, his last 5 years at NRL level coaching are horrendous.
It is Madge, but he is not the sole problem and others need to go as well

Perhaps the South’s players got a bit comfy after their premiership year and didn’t have that killer drive you need to win. I don’t think playing under Madge would be comfortable. This club has let players be comfortable for too long.

The coach is not the reason we can’t attract players. The front office (Board) is. Many players just use us as a bargaining chip to up their worth. That is changing, slowly. More than anything we need stability, the current split Board is the destabilising factor. They need to present a united front outside the Board room. Something this current Board is incapable of.

The fact that sections of the board go off sooking to media says it all. Unprofessional club from the very top. Nobody respects WT because we don’t deserve respect. Burn it down and revamp with a new leadership model.

Why did the red hot tigers miss the 8 the year after the gf and never ended up showing anything resembling a chance until 2009.
I’ll tell you. Rosters change, players get old, loose form, young kids coming through sometimes aren’t as good, other coaches can counter your style, Injuries can play a part.
Why couldn’t Robinson guide the star studded 2013 roosters roster to a second premiership.
Why hasn’t he been able to repeat his feat since Cronk retired and Latrell left?

What's the Easts Reserve grade? Why has Souths been able to pull a replacement for Latrell and we had to move everything to get a decent fullback in Diane Laurie?

The ability to attract top shelf players when coming 13th! Are we joking?

What concerns me is the players that do come here are not developing. No, were never going to superstar hire ourselves out of the spot were in. What we need to do is identify why we have what would be an alright forward pack crumble in so many situations. How come, after a year of fewer disturbances then other teams we still are not defending?

When we have 13 guys that are playing for each other and holding their own, then we can hire whomever we want and give them $1mil to get them. But while were a mess, players are not going to come here. They see Josh Reynolds, Mbye, Packer and think "those guys haven't developed. I am worth 1 Million now, but if I join the Tigers I will be on the scrap heap".

That's what annoys me the most. How do the media even know there was a board meeting scheduled for last night to decide Madge's future unless someone leaked it? The amount of sensitive inside information that the press frequently seem to get hold of disgusts me with this club and it all comes from sources within the club. Do you hear all this inside info coming out of Melb or Roosters or Riff etc? 100% not because they aren't run by complete nuffs and know that anything leaked will likely be twisted by the media.

Anything said about who our coach will be.

I'm not sure how it is different ...we will still an inept plodder farm

This club is all about names ...names from another era almost ....Roberts , BJ , Tamou ,Ballin ........they struggle with tense ....lets try something different

Instead of looking at a player and saying they have PLAYED SOO ...how about looking at players who are PLAYING SOO

If a Porsche is for sale for $5000 ...there is a reason for it ....

Does anybody think we are going to attract any players for next season with all this crap going on in the club , we may have to keep hold of Roberts & Joey ,I believe Nathan Peats is coming back from ESL to join us , maybe we could get Corey Norman too

How many current origin players leave their clubs though - what you want is players who will play in the next 3 years. I give the club credit i think they have signed lots of exceptional young talent

Recruitment put on hold pending is the funniest thing I’ve read In ages

Officially put on hold, not de facto on hold.

You'd think our experienced heads would step up

The guy we need in some coaching capacity is James Maloney. He is a winner and has the best football brain /leadership qualities and track record. Wherever he goes success follows. Stitch him up before one of the big clubs do. Am I the only one to see this? He will coach one day so why not get in early and make an offer instead of pontificating about and speculating about needing leaders.

I agree he would be great, though I think rumours were that he wouldn't ever consider us as a player. If that were true, then I suspect maybe he may be unlikely to come here as a coach as well.

Also, I think I read a month ago he was looking forward to family life in France for a few years.

But maybe big money can bring him back, worth a try imo.

Does he even want to be a coach? Didn’t want to come here as a player, he just laughed and said no when it was suggested, could not see that attitude changing as a coach.
