Justin olam is off contract end of next season...

Would be 28

He is the best centre in game atm imho

And the second most famous person in PNG other than the PM - great story out about him today.

3rd ...the weightlifter who won a medal at the Commonwealth games is huge in PNG ...almost as famous as I am in Gladstone lol

Only the Queensland Gladstone unknown in the Macleay one.

We are a team with very poor defence. Why would we want Scott or Elliott is beyond me
Both very poor defenders plus Elliotts game is riddled with errors. They are typicall reject signings this club makes year after year which leads to disappointment and failure.
We have to break this cycle with better quality recruitment.

We could really do with Tariq Sims, the bloke is a winner , trains hard and leads by example ,Elliott i believe could be an asset but so could Peachey also who can cover multiple positions and maybe round off with Curtis Scott and a bit of front loading .

Tariq Sims and Peachey - definitely for me. Elliot could be a good get - but his off field problems with grog are concerning. Scott - not sure about him.

No doubt the club has already been in touch with player agents to see who's available. Read a while ago Sheens was involved in this. Now Madge's immediate future has been sorted, I'd expect at least some of these discussions to result in new signings. Sims, Elliot and Scott might all be decent pickups at the right price. Sims, apparently has no agent and conducts his own contract negotiations. Sounds like the kind of guy we need.

Sims Wife is his agent.

Sims is an obvious choice for our young pack.
Now there's only a few teams left you can bet some skittles will start falling ... there might even be a few surprise departures from our ranks.

Signing Elliot is to me similar to St George signing Sims from Newcastle. There is still plenty of growth, he has talent and has represented Country etc. St George definitely got the best years out of signing Sims.

Now he is not the same player as Tariq Sims but probably at a similar crossroad to his time back then.

We could sign both. Elliot could be a flop or he could become outstanding, there is room to grow. Sims on the other hand is at his peak. I wouldn’t put him in the same position as Tamou as he is still a current rep player and is probably performing to the top of his game.

Sims may have 5 years in him like a Luke Lewis or he could have 1 or 2.

Elliot most definitely has 5+.

Tariq - yes - but people are thinking he is past his prime? He played origin this year..

as for Peachy.. do we really need another ball hog?

Our club should take initiative and increase and extend Stefano, Laurie, Simpkin, Blore and bring in the kids to top 30. Move on from Brooks, Liddle, Garner, Tamou and build from now. Give Madge the next two seasons to bring things together and recruit next year.

Veterans on 1-2 year deals would be wise Tariq Sims and or young players looking for opportunity. The club has to be truthful and rebuild this side won’t make the finals and I don’t want them trying to buy a side that can do it in the short term. It’s the wrong way we will suck for a few years but they have to make it happen.

Young players like that aren’t stupid, why would you re sign

Cash no one else can offer as they are under contract. Agents get a higher commission. You shouldn’t lose any players you want to keep especially the young ones.

Well let’s hope the board don’t make the same mistake of letting them all go off contract at the exact same time again and extend some of them early

So just wondering, if we still can’t get any big signings to come, are we still blaming Madge or will it be Sheens?

I think the chance for big signings are over, we missed them all, there isn't anyone exciting left available as far as I understand?

Or do you mean 2023

I think the only big signing that was missed was Matt Burton, he has a big future ahead of him. And he reportedly only went to Dogs to follow Barrett. Not to many others signed up for other clubs this year that would be considered big signings that would've justified their huge salaries IMO.

Im not sold on Burton being a future star .. there is just something about him that doesnt sit well. Yes he looks ok in this current Penriff side, but so do most players including Eisenhuth. Burton at this stage of his career is putting 110% every week by going 100 miles an hour at everything and throwing his body into every tackle .. this is what most new comers call .. I must impress syndrome .. !!

Yes you want you players playing at 110% if they can .. but there are a lot wise players out there who will play at their hardest when the time is required .. poor young Burton is gonna bust himself playing for a less stronger team like the Dogs next season and wont look half as energised or good as he does now.

It's like a lot of Melbourne players take them out of the Storm team and dont look half as good. So i hope im wrong and Burton goes on to prove me wrong .. but good luck to the kid.

Burton is a child prodigy and has always lived up to the hype - my contacts in Dubbo have known he would reach the heights he already has before he got to Penrith but probably just sooner than they expected.

I'll be extremely surprised if he doesn't kill it at Belmore.

Penrith seems to have a hold on Dubbo future stars - clearly their program identifies the talent early.

A big part of Panthers grip on Central/West NSW is that the Panthers Group bought out a series of dying licensed clubs in the region and then have sensibly used the opportunity to expand into local leagues. Good strategy.

Agree, there are no superstars around atm, but I don't think we need a lot of players, a couple of solid FG's would be a good start. Still a long way to go to next season?

Liam Scolari is a Dubbo product.
