Imagine if we got cheese

We would implode

From constipation most likely. On a serious note, I don't think we would offer him enough to play for us.

Fans were upset about a guy like Elliot possible signing...

Wonder if it'd be the same reaction with this guy....

Cheese is a thousand times better as a player at least. Questionable choice in friends and offseason activities but gun player.

the game needs characters. Brandon Smith, onfield and off-field, is a character. I don't think he'd entertain a switch to WT, but he would be unbelievable for us from a marketing and sponsorship perspective. I don't necessarily condone what he got up to on Mad Monday, but he's a player you can't help but love. his image has deservedly suffered from recent events but he'll be ok in the long run.

Yeah I don't necessarily condone his actions however the game has far worse playing atm. I feel he's the sort of character team-mates love to be around and play alongside. Would be a huge asset to any team on and off the field.

absolutely. this year was his first full year in the top grade in his favoured position and he managed to keep a generational talent (Grant) out of the starting side and won hooker of the year. he's a million dollar player in waiting. whether or not he takes a cut to stay at Melbourne or gets the payday he deserves elsewhere remains to be seen.

I still feel his best position is lock however you're right to play hooker and keep Harry on the pine most of the season suggests you're doing something very right at 9.

Unless we release players, we only have room for one of Taylor, Sims, Elliot, Scott.

We've got to be careful too. We could sign Taylor, Elliot and Scott for the same price as just Sims. But that certainly doesn't mean we should! We can only afford to gamble on so many unknowns...

There's about 4 or 5 roster spots available. Say for argument sake there's 4 then you have room for 3 of those you mentioned keeping 1 free for a possible mid season switch or upgrading of a lower tier contract.

We have heaps of money. We have to be aiming much higher than these rejects. Throw coin at players available in 2023 and get them early, pay a fee if you have to. We've got more money than almost anyone else. Time to go hard. Hammer, Grant, Ponga, Brown, Leniu, Manu, who knows. Aim high and be aggressive.

Cant wait for 2023 and lose an entire year.Yet again
Gotta try to entice someone out of their contract like others do to us.

weve got 3 or 4 haves already,so surely dont need a proven dud like Taylor...?No improvement on what we have. Its not really a position of need
Sims too old and too lazy..never turns up for Dragons.Nup..not him surely
Elliot useful, but weve got a lot of young backrowers already.A senior voice in the pack though..
We desperately need a centre, but Scott??Really ...he wld have to go off the booze ..permanently to consider him.Serial idiot.
Lunai from Panthers has potental, but yet another young prop..?Not exactly what we need atm
So Im hoping its none of the above...

Thanks for that …. so I guess that leaves nobody. Great!

Prop is probably the position we are strongest in and have the best depth. Would be a very Tigers thing to buy a washed up Prop right now.

Wasn't there a game this year where we only had 2 or 3 front rowers playing? Plus Mikaele was reinstated (in said game) back in the front row, after playing a few weeks at lock?
I honestly don't mind Tamou and Stefano starting together. Love Twal's work ethic, but no offence I don't like watching other packs roll straight through/over us almost every game.
I know there's some defensive issues but I also hate that we don't limit their(other forwards) metres and PCMs either.

Yes agreed.
There is no way we are strong in the front row stocks we have.

Agree with all you say, but Im not saying we are *strong* in the props, just that that is the position we are *strongest* in. Indication of the strength of the squad really.

I still have my hopes that Thompson may be released by the Gus for some sort of trade.
Same with a Garner swap with Manly.
Agree that there is not much out there but think that any low $s established, experienced first grader might not hurt.
Peachey, Lomax (if released), Cotric (if released), Scott, Taylor, Harris-Tavita, Burns, Sims, Elliot and Marty would be ok by me.

How much cap space do we have 1.3 million right ?
Sims we will probably be paying 300k cause dragons will chip in majority

Scott shouldn't be too expensive around 350k

Leaves us with 650k left over

Garner leaves and swap with sipley that solves the prop shortage we have

Brooks / Taylor halves DEVASTATING !!! Tigers the club that keeps giving .
One day a signing that could actually garner excitement like to see that!

Lol Scott would be on the bare minimum are you serious 😂

Okay 1.6 leaves us with 950k we can either sign some new guys or resign blokes that expire in 2022 which include: Garner, Tamou , Luciano, Madden , Mikeaele, Twal , Kelma , Roberts and Kepoa whats the plan ?

I'm still hoping for Thompson too. I think he'd be a great pickup.

He should be treated harshly for that behaviour. 3 years to be served at WTs.

Well..my point is Im hoping that its a SOMEBODY..in a position of need
Sort of like normal and successful clubs do....rather than take whatever is leftover on the shelf(usually past its best by date!!)

Just saw something on Facey posted in Mighty Wests Tigers Supporters Group suggesting Dragons have offered Curtis Scott a deal and that it's now up to the Tigers to counter offer within a certain timeframe or he'll sign with Dragons. It would be just like the Tigers to get into a bidding war and pay overs too.

I'm taking the original source with a grain of salt as it appears to have originated from The Forgotten Man NRL Rumours.

Cap should be around 2 mil no?

We got:
Packer's salary (700?)
Joey leilua Salary (600)
Second half of Reynolds transfer is off our cap (What is this around 400?)
around half of Moses salary is free (350-450?)

That's what approximately 2mil already

Plus anyone else we released, should be around the 2 mil mark I believe.

Well with November 1st being over a month away you can rule out both a signing for season 23 and or an early release of a player signed for season 23.
As Brent Read mentioned, players, coaches managers can all talk before November 1st but no contract can be offered without the approval of their current club.

Part of me would be ok to sign up stop gaps for a year + club option favours in second year. Everyone of those mentioned are nearly on last chance saloon in the nrl.
Fitting out our squad with experience may not necessarily net us anymore wins in the short term but it can give plenty of extra development time to the likes of Blore / Tulagi / Simpkins / Simpkin / Madden / Kepoa. I really feel blooding these boys slowly will be key to our long term success.
Throw in some of the older Flegg boys into that team and we have some building blocks for long term success.
Injuries come and go so these boys wouldn’t be locked in to the lower grade but this way they get the chance to learn to win and dominate together before they push back up into first grade.

I have also heard from a very close source to Curtis that Dragons are in discussions with him, with Suli also seeming to making his way there - I looked into it in another way that maybe the Lomax exit rumours are true?
