Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

At the end of the day, Madge has probably 5-10 games into the 2022 season to save his job. The Tigers have to perform. He will be spending $1.6 - 2m in the off season strengthening positions of inferiority. I am sure these signings will be superior to what ran out onto the field in 2021.

100% 👍

Whew! Napa had me worried . ( visions of Russell packer spinning around).I’ve had a cuppa and settled myself down. Needaname has rekindled the flame, at least for a couple of pages!

@THE_POM any potential signing news? Ash Taylor rumours getting louder and news that we are close to a forward that will go straight into our starting side

I doubt you’d get a response. I feel this will be kept very tight in terms of who it is. You might get some more hints or assurances but for now these are quotes from the other poster.

‘We are hunting down existing first grade players.’
Expect another massive mobile forward as a starter.’
Another potential Lucy type.’
‘We seem to be getting a decent forward’
‘Before we resume for the pre season, at least one new proper forward and another.’
‘No retiree or ex WT merkin coming “home”.’
‘Game ready, battle hardened players.’
‘Old mate is not a useless merkin, still young and fit and will pretty much go straight into the side.’

We need to sign Scott.
Yes, not for overs and not in a bidding war.
The guy is only 23. Won a comp at 19.
If his head is right he will be QUALITY.
And we are beyond desperate for centres

No we don’t. Why would his head be right at a club like ours ? Constantly in the media for the wrong reasons enough as it is. Kepao can play centres start of next season, so can gildart, Tommy will be back before you know it and then you’ve got young blokes. He doesn’t improve our team at all

He is on his last chance and is a quality player.
More importantly he is young.
Kepoa is bog average and apparently Gildart isn’t of First Grade standard.
But thats cool mate, if you wanna play next season again with the same walleys thats cool

Who gives a rats who we’re playing with. Anyone that thinks people like Scott or Elliot improve our squad , let alone our ladder position, has rocks in their head to put it nicely. Anyone we bring in will just be around for the failure so I could care less whos there

Man your constant negativity is pretty depressing tbh. Everyone is entitled to an opinion and you certainly don't have to agree with them all but I'm yet to read anything positive. There are better ways to make a point or opinion known without the non stop doom and gloom.

Mate I’m not the source.
I have no idea myself.
Just posting what I read from various posts on the other forum.

Just my opinion - would not touch with a barge pole.

Some clubs, maybe could take a risk.

We are not in a position to take any more risks. We are still at least a year away of being competitive, depending on what they do with AD (5/8 for mine), we will have for next year, Talau, Gildardt, Kepaoa, Kei, Pauga, Hoffman and possibly Roberts.

Would not say we are beyond desperate, in need of, maybe. Could be worth a crack at Braidon Burns and if the talk on here has any legs that Zac Lomax is a chance, then that is about it for 2022. Look into possibilities for 2023 if we still need a centre, as there will be a few more available. Better than having to try for a halfwit (don't care how good or bad he is or how much he cost).

We are one of the clubs that MUST continue to take risks. Albeit considered and clever risks.

Could be Thommo.

I would probably entertain a thomo for Musgrove swap.

I agree, I definitely would be down for that. With Thommo what you see is what you get. Mus is largely and unknown and has so far failed to live up to any hype. Seems to have regular long term injury woes which have prevented him hitting any real form. Thommo is quality, hard hitting and hard running.

Napa said no to us back when he signed with the Dogs ...we got very close to signing him .....rumour has it .....wasn't that right @Geo ???

I'm not in the know or anything, but two separate people have asked the bloke on LU if it's Adam Elliott and he hasn't shut it down yet....

I don't think we're in a position to be picky about certain players our club is all about being gritty no matter your reputation as long as you give 100% we don't care so many we need to take look at the outcasts like Scott like elliot who have something to prove

So we are now trying to be a club that give halfwits a chance to prove they are only quarterwits.

Give Scott a chance he can stay sober and whatever else - and Elliot a chance to prove he is not a sex rat, nudist and that he really can pass the ball in try scoring situations.

Absolute NO for both from me.

Haha yeah, haven’t been able to shake “ferret” for over 25 years in my local sporting circles

lol. There are only a few ways to get a ferret nickname and not many are good.

Given the clubs position, we need to have a strong year, if say there should be a change of approach from hartigan

- need to fill all 30 spots by late this year, no leaving empty spots for later like last year. Need to give all players time to compete for spots and make combinations and learn defensive pattern

- all new signings need to be strong defenders

- 3 or 4 out of the 5 spots need to be natural leaders who are vocal and don't give up

- need to go hard (overs) on at least one player in 2022 or 23 who is a leader and will drive culture change but also change narrative for club

- no more problem children. Need players who set good example

I doubt the club is shooting that high.
