If they take his whole contract, they are dumber than us. Common sense would tell you to look at our squad, see how depleted our halves stocks are, and bleed us for every dollar. And why would they pay 700-800k for a guy that isn’t even a first grader?

It's more likely they'd take the 600k freed up from Pearce and use that and Tigers to pay the balance. Or alternatively a financial like for like swap such as a Friz or Klem given their wages are roughly the same as Brooks.

Frizell would be good for us.

If he wants to go I say good luck to him. Api or Hodgo would have to be committed before I’d release him though. I’d also want Frizell.

If you look at our squad and especially the injuries we have we need him at least to start next season. The club though may see Hastings/Doueihi as our halves moving forward. Personally I like the look of those two in the halves even though Hastings is unproven.

I can understand the club letting him go if you could get a quality player in another position. I don't think swaps really happen in the NRL but you get rid of Brooks and get for instance Papali or Spencer Leniu it'd be a positive step longer term.

Brooks will improve behind the Saifiti brothers, Klemmer , Frizell and with Ponga also creating havoc, Joey’s influence is just icing.

It appears they are fairly desperate to sign him for whatever reason, we should be using that. A deal similar to the Mbye one offers no benefit to us. We should be saying, "if you want him, you have to take his entire contract".

They’d only be desperate if they have already signed off on Peace's release. What could happen is neither club being prepared to budge. The Knights not prepared to release Pearce until they know they have Brooks, and Wests wanting the Knights to pay as much freight as possible.

Sure but if they know Peace wants to go and they free up his coin they will easily cover most of Brooks wage. If Brooks wants to go he is gone

Again though, if he’s that bad, why would they want to cover most of his wage? Clubs don’t even do that with good players, they still want to bleed the other club for every dollar. I don’t get how the forum can bury him for years, yet think another club would be happy to swoop in and take him off our hands free of charge. And even give us Origin players in exchange.

The common belief (which I don't necessarily disagree with) is WT's culture is rotten and once players (and coaches) get out of that system they improve. Benji into a Grand Final, Teddy becoming the best player in the game, Paps suddenly not being so injury prone.

Brooks has managed to play 150 games in that system and I'm sure Joey will think he can get him to what he promised as a junior.

Maybe they won't want to pay his full freight, then we hang onto him.

I hope we keep Brooks. If we lose him to Newcastle they will be laughing and we will run bottom last for sure.

It remains to be seen if it is or not, however we know the spine we used last year didn’t get the job done so trying the same thing is not the best idea.

If we end up with that spine and an extra 500k to spend I think we’d get out of it okay.

Has made me sick to my stomach for the best part of 10 years that we bought possibly one of our best ever juniors through the club - With no experienced player in his position in front of him....

Not one!! - Unless you count Anasta for 1/2 a year.

We invested half a mill in him, someone must rate him. I personally think he is a 14.
