**DEVELOPMENT PLAYERS 2022**
Henry O'Kane - 19-year-old Second-Rower. Balmain SG Ball in 2021

Brandon Tumeth - 18-year-old Second-Rower. Balmain SG Ball in 2021

Lomi Saukuru - 19-year-old Second-Rower. Wests SG Ball in 2021

Extremely surprising that we would feel the need to use development contracts on local juniors who are a long way off first grade in 2022 rather than players like Pole, Dillon, Scolari (who have played well in flegg and might be ready to step up soon) or prized recruits from outside the organisation.

Extremely surprising. Especially given they're all forwards.

Some players who have performed much stronger and higher bigger reputations don't get deals, yet these guys do?

O'Kane and Tumeth are good prospects, don't get me wrong, but it's a tad disappointing to see them be the one's given these special contracts.

I have heard Tumeth will push for a debut in 2022, not sure about the other 2 though.

Physically he's nowhere near ready to push for nsw cup or first grade. He'd get eaten alive if thrown to the wolves too early.

Of course he can develop physically but i don't think he'd be close next season. Should be in a position to play a few nsw cup games by the end of the year and push for first grade in 2023.

He's mates with Laurie and Fitzgibbon, hope that means they can sway him our way.

Somehow ..I don't think Fitzgibbon holds much sway..

You'd think Tyronne Roberts may know him from Illawarra days.

I seen Roberts play in a local 1st grade game last year, scored 2 tries in the last 5 mins to win a semi final for Warilla at only 18? Or 19 years old. I was surprised he never got the same accolades Sloan and Sullivan got but good to see we picked him up

Handy half that can also play fullback and maybe dummy half in a pinch. Watch him flair up Jersey Flegg

Actually I think he may be 1 year younger than Sullivan/Sloan

It's a great talent pool in the Illawarra. I am pleased we signed Roberts and hope we can land Sullivan.

Not trying to be too pedantic but Warilla is part of Group 7 which is the area south of the Illawarra.Mick Cronin is probably the best player to ever come from that area (Geringong)

You are being pedantic. Warilla is and always has been part of the Illawarra geographically.

When i lived in Warilla admittedly 50 years ago we did not count ourselves as part of the Illawarra. The Illawarra ended at Windang bridge and Dapto. All football teams south of those locations Warilla and Oak Flats considered themselves to be country sides in Group 7.

Geographically. The Illawarra encompasses the cities of Wollongong, Shellharbour and the town of Kiama. I was born and raised in the Illawarra.

Maybe Benji can make a come back under Sheens ?

Downvote!

Benji gets rejected and then helps Souths reach the finals.

He was 2 points off a premiere ship ring!

Here I hope he never joins the permanent coaching staff, but as a 1 month ideas guy he would be awesome. He thinks outside the box and makes the game interesting.

We were lucky to have Farah and Benji and I thank them both.

Jeeze.. you’re right.. how old is he?

He's young, probably still 18, not sure when turns 19.

I'm all for fast tracking juniors, and he's played for all the nsw junior rep sides, and a junior indigenous squad, he's clearly a talented player and has leadership skills. He's aggressive for his size, but that's fine in the lower grades. Week in week out against the big boys he'd get worn out and fall off tackles easier.

Seyfarth would have 10-15cms on him - his frame is very tall and skinny. Tumeth is far more nuggety, low centre of gravity and aggressive, which makes him hard to tackle but he's also not really a line running second rower, hitting gaps. Power is his game, even played some games at prop/lock.

Jeeze.. you’re right.. how old is he?

He's young, probably still 18, not sure when turns 19.

I'm all for fast tracking juniors, and he's played for all the nsw junior rep sides, and a junior indigenous squad, he's clearly a talented player and has leadership skills. He's aggressive for his size, but that's fine in the lower grades. Week in week out against the big boys he'd get worn out and fall off tackles easier.

He turns 19 in April, so still very young.

Good to see the young fellows progressing through the grades. Unfortunately, our expectations of them even at this early stage are high, which reflects on the relatively modest state of our recruitment at the NRL level.

Not sure on the status of these contracts but Club Juniors can spend 2 years on development contracts...

No doubt he has to grow into his body, he's a different shape than the LL, Blore, Tuilagi style backrowers we have in the top 30. He has played NSW Cup this year though, and held his own. With a big off-season I think he could play mostly NSW cup in 2022 and push for NRL at the end of the year.

Can we sign Laurie Daley or Brett Kenny , move brooks to 5/8 and get one of these blokes to assist him as a specialist trainer , Hastings to half and run the team

I want him in recruitment....
Imagine you're a 15yr old and Benji Marshall comes to your house and tells you he wants you at the club.
You're mum and dad are fans, You're a fan....

No brainer i reckon. Especially for local juniors
