One of my mates was listening to SEN radio and apparently Jack Wighton was mentioned apparently Tigers are looking at him if true I think that would mean Luke Brooks and Jack Wighton swap

Just a straight swap? Wow we benefit way more then them if true.

Would have to maybe be part of the deal with Hodgson. We come closer to subsidizing his salary.

I can't imagine Canberra doing this though.

That would lock Doueini out to Center. I think Center is his best position IMHO but ofcourse 5/8 pays more.

If Brooks goes to Canberra he will be playing Reserve grade. In Newcastle he would learn, but under Ricky, man he would be forced to fit a totally different halfback mould.
Brooks needs to get that positional side of the game but I cant see him and Ricky working.

So we should hold on to someone who is not in our best 17 because they might come good elsewhere? That's ridiculous.

We need to examine the reason(s) why. Garner is a fine line breaking forward. Most times he receives the ball he makes half breaks and looks dangerous.

He's ok but he's hardly worth losing our minds over. He's decent in attack but he's never going to be amazing, and he's prone to defensive lapses. Could he be better in another club/system? I mean, yeah, maybe a bit. But I can't bring myself to get too excited about it.

Garner and Leilua you either accept them for the players they are or move them on. Both are attacking forwards who can create opportunities. Both are never going to be workhorses. When required to do that, missed tackles will occur due to fatigue. But there is a place for them from the interchange where they can be injected into the game for impact, which is what you need from interchange players.

I don't disagree with that. Obviously salary comes into it but I'd certainly argue that a team can probably only afford one of that type of player and, of the two, Leilua is the more damaging. Put it this way: if you told me we'd have Blore, Papali'i and Leilua all fit and ready in 2023 I wouldn't want us to be spending anything much on Garner.

Luckily we signed Papali’i yesterday, otherwise the negative Nancy’s would have been out in force today.

Parra fans seem to be self soothing themselves by saying that we paid Pap crazy money. As if 600k is crazy money for the Dally M second rower of the year. What do they think he’s worth, 450? Yeah right. To put it in perspective, we paid Adam Blair 500k a decade ago, which at the time was close to top dollar. Now 500k is what you pay a solid first grader. And Pap has shown he’s above that level and we got him for 600. Good outcome for us.

The last 2 years of his contract is a player option at 800k. We'd have to offer 850-900k for him for 3-4 years. Is he worth that?

I wouldn't have minded us having a go at Kikau but only because I didn't think we were a chance of landing Papali'i, who I think is a much better option.
That's going to be an extremely top-heavy roster at the Bulldogs, with quite a few players that have problems with consistency and effort...

I would much rather Papali’i. Also how much did they pay, Read said he turned down the Cowboys who offered $800k a season for 4 years?

In all honesty the Bulldogs offer may have been the same as the Cowboys (still way overs imo) and wouldn't require the upheaval of moving to north queensland.

You do realise he's a Cowboys junior, right?

That's the market for impact 2nd rowers. He has done more over the last couple of years than TPJ who commanded > $700K/a. Makes Papali'i look like good value though.

IMO, no.......

He’s on big coin at Raiders can’t deny that and we will probably have to offer 800-900K to get him over the line if we really are interested in him but maybe they are just having a quick look at him might not pursue him wholeheartedly unless they really want him it’ll probably a 3 year deal from 23 if we don’t swap with Brooks and maybe he does go to the Knights but if we do a swap with Raiders it might be easier as both clubs will have to contribute for 22

There was that story that got published months ago but it was under Hartigan now that Sheens is in the picture they might take it more seriously and could possibly happen

I dont think i ever saw that I did hear Brooks to the raiders when the other pommy left but thats about it.
