He won halfback of the year under our previous coach… but don’t let facts get in the way.

Couldn’t this all go in one of the 17 Luke Brooks threads available?

Halfback of the Year for a team who came 9th. In 2018, Cronk had his debut year at Chooks and won a GF, Adam Reynolds got South's to Top 4 and Cleary debuted in Origin, but yeah Brooks was the best 7 in the Comp ???

He never said he was the best halfback that year, just that he was halfback of the year, which he was.

He did ok for Cleary - a coach who can coach
Taylor and Potter couldn't coach

Get rid of Brooks. Hasting and Douhei are the future. If Douhei is out, replace him with a good defender.

Doueihi is out. Brooks is a good defender.

Brooks' defensive stats last year say otherwise. Most missed tackles of anyone at the club

Well congrats on backing up your claim.

Not every missed tackle is a bad stat though. A missed tackle can be initial contact and shrugged off. But in the process he could have slowed the ball carrier down before his team mates came in to assist

For example Luciano has 93.1% tackle efficiency… but that doesn’t include where he’s absolutely misread the offence or been beaten for speed 9/10 times does it?

Was just randomly scrolling through every clubs gains and losses. Think most expected the Dolphins to go crazy. I know most on here were worried they’d be a roadblock for us making signings for 2023, but look at their gains so far. Kaufusi, Isaako and Ray Stone. I thought Ponga was a dead certainty to go there, but I’m starting to have my doubts.

They’d be stupid not to wait at least a few rounds to push his value up and to make sure the club is on the right path. He’s one of the best young talents in the game.

Try watching him play and reflecting on how the club has invested close to a decade into him and chopped and changed the team to try and play to his strengths for the same abysmal stuff, week in week out, year after year.

Demps, please give it a miss. There are no games now and it appears to have become a compulsive habit for some to put the boot into him. It is quite disturbing as well as incorrect and boring.

Brooks has often been stuck defending next to Garner or Luci.

In almost any other team you would expect the second rowers to play the role of minder for the half back, however, at the Wests Tigers you could be forgiven for thinking at times that Luke Brooks is the minder.

Don't worry about the stats, they don't always tell the full story, as a matter of fact they can be manipulated to tell what ever story line that you may want to push.

You are right. The Club / Environment greatly impacts a player and their performance.

Ask yourself - Would anyone in our squad improve if they were playing at Melb or the Rosters???

It’s simple, IMO, need to play to the strengths around 3-4 new players; add Stef, Doueihi and at least one other spine member (could be Laurie and Hastings)... otherwise Brooks will drown under pressure for another year and a bunch of our best options or current recruits will begin looking elsewhere, new coach, cycle starts again.

Need to constantly be looking forward this year but obviously remain grounded as a supporter group and temper any expectations.

Aiming up in defence with a few blokes willing to call out and set the D structure/line speed will be huge..

It’s simple, IMO, need to play to the strengths around 3-4 new players; add Stef, Doueihi and at least one other spine member (could be Laurie and Hastings)... otherwise Brooks will drown under pressure for another year and a bunch of our best options or current recruits will begin looking elsewhere, new coach, cycle starts again.

Need to constantly be looking forward this year but obviously remain grounded as a supporter group and temper any expectations.

Aiming up in defence with a few blokes willing to call out and set the D structure/line speed will be huge..

all comes down to our application and attitude in defence. if we show the same level of intent we did last year we are in for another year of pulling our hair out. let's hope Cayless manages to fix things and our edges begin to work as a unit as opposed to a group of individuals.

Not necessarily. Matterson improved when he came here from the Roosters (and regressed when he left). Harry Grant made huge leaps here and probably took a quarter step back this season at Melbourne too (injuries not doubt contributed though). Different players will respond to different environments. The club isn't entirely useless, they get it right sometimes, just not as often as Melbourne or the Roosters.
