Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I haven’t heard anything official from Parra about Matterson so at this stage he seems to be on the outer, he could be gone after this year but if he is don’t know which club would be willing to take him only club that might come sniffing would be Dolphins given they don’t have many players their yet
Dolphins won't be taking Matto. 100%

WB is clearly going the muscle route with Kaufusi, J & K Bromwich and a bunch of other forwards that honestly make their forward pack look really good for a starting side (I can't remember who but I was going wow). Now if the Dolphins did not sign those names, they would be signing Matterson 100%

Re Matto, I don't have a huge problem with him. He is in it for the money, he will demand the money. He does not suit us at the moment, we are building towards regularly entering the top 8 and staying there..... Where he would suit is Penrith, Easts where they want an extra push to get to the finals OR Melbourne after the names they have lost.

The only reason why we would take him is if say Tamou or Stefano fall to injury. Which is totally fine.

Guys we need to let ex tigers come back. James Tedesco, you are welcome to the Fullback spot and I am sure we can spare you 300k at least.

I can see Tedesco coming beck when he’s 35, wanting to a LeBron, winning a comp with the team he grew up playing for. Going on about how good it feels to be home.

I think one player who left who regretted almost immediately was Aaron Woods. I think he was keen to come back this year, he even said so, but we had moved on. I remember the interview he did with James Hooper when he announced he was leaving, he said he wanted to play for a winning team. After he signed with the Dogs mid year, the Dogs lost their next 8 or 9 games in a row and Hasler was sacked. That was funny.

He was 100% waiting for a phone call from Madge that never came... Teddy and Moses have gone on to do good things, his career went massively backwards. He would've come back if given the opportunity but we wisely didn't give him one

I would have taken him back over Tamou, he did burn some bridges but i think that was more through stupidity than malice. I can understand the club wanting to move forward though and that was probably the best case for us. His career went backwards fast after he left, he obviously realised just a little too late.

I think he regretted leaving before he even left. The vibe I was getting at the time was that he was looking to renege on the Dogs, but Cleary had moved on having signed Matulino and Packer. Funny in hindsight, but we all had hope for those 2 at the time. And that was the period where Cleary couldn’t get arrested in Tiger town.

I think Woods burned the whole bridge down he probably does regret it now as well as the interview explaining why he left and bagging the club in the process, but his career has been the worst out of all of them, Tedesco is the only one that’s won a premiership and Moses while he has played finals footy don’t think he’ll win a premiership if he stays at Parra this year is the last chance I think for a long time that Parra have a shot at the premiership, Woods I think did really want to finish his career at the Tigers but we have moved on and I doubt we’ll bring him in after he is retired that bridge has been completely destroyed

That interview with Hooper was a disgrace. And whoever from the club green lit the interview that involved him throwing the club under the bus, should have been fired.

I listened to his side of the story on bloke in a bar was pretty interesting i would like to hear the clubs side of the story before passing judgment but we have to admit over the past 6 years the club has done some very questionable things I can see why some players have had the craps with the club the handling of not resigning benji has to be up there with the worst as soon and they made a choice he wasn’t going to be needed next year he should I have been the first person told for him to read it in the media then have to ask Madge is terrible he is arguably our greatest ever player

Wished they all went to the Dogs. Other two dodge a bullet.

I simply can't agree with that....
Benji thought he "could wait" until the end of the season to see if he "felt like" US giving him the best part of 400k and a roster spot, To go around again... At 36 when he wasn't playing great.
AND we already 4 Halves (Outside Brooks) that were contracted for last year....

The only reason the song and dance came about, Was because he looked at the situation realistically (for once) and realised there wasn't going to be a spot for him....
Then hit the panic button.
- What NRL Player / Agent waits until there is no contract, Before deciding to look look for a contract...
And what NRL Club waits until the death to sure up such an important position?

Truth is, He always knew he wasn't looking to retire - and in true Benji Fashion, He made it all about him...
As he said on fox, "I assumed there'd be a contract for me..... If I wanted one"
If any other player in the game said that publicly - about any club... He'd be laughed all the way back to the TAB. Not Benji though, They all crack out the violins.

So much love for Doueihi here - How does he play 6 last year with Benji on the books... Further to that, If he's not at 6 - How do we have Laurie (Another favourite) at 1?
It's not 2007 anymore - The club and the game had moved past Benji - The only one not to realise it... Was Benji.

He skipped out on his contract last time with us and made it all about him and how he'd been wronged... HE STILL HAD 2 YEARS TO RUN!! Now, He's got away with it again...

Like Gordon Tallis said a couple years back, If you could keep your job based on who you used to be - I'd still be playing for the Broncos.

To wind it up, Benji Marshall did a lot for this club - What we owe him is immeasurable.....
But we also did a lot for him, We nursed him through injury - We fostered our game to keep him in the game - We've all supported him through 15 years of his super hot or frosty cold....
AND he got paid...

The West Tigers may not be the Wests Tigers without Benji Marshall, In turn Benji Marshall may well not be Benji Marshall if not for the Wests Tigers..

We finished up pretty square.
