We're not ready for Ciraldo, And he's not ready for us (as we are)
Next year we'll be much more sellable if we need a new coach - I don't know he'll be still looking around then.

We've also never made any coaches - We've killed off a bunch though...
Surely he's looking at that as well.

Luke gives a toss . He’s there every time a team makes a break . Every time one of ours does .
But he’s not putting up back page articles or having his mates on 360 talk about how amazing he is , so eventually the narrative around him has skewed to what he doesn’t do so much , that no one ever notices the 90% of the time he does what he’s supposed to do . All of us sitting waiting for him to mess up .
We have all been manipulated by the fox media , even the guys who support him , like me .
To what agenda ? Honestly I think its either deflection from the heinous stuff teams like south’s and Cronulla get up to on the weekend , or , they want to take him away because he’s one of the rare 6 guys in the comp right now wio can actually play halfback .

Also to finish , it’s been stated now by a few retired footy players , Benji very recently , that you shit brooks down , the tigers have nothing.
Which is true. So every time he gets the ball they jam in on him , ruin his space , and yep we fall in a heap , and so does he .
You can’t jam in , if latrell is out the back , or Turbo , or and this one hurts because we wanted to and should have kept him , but got hosed over by Tedesco and his management , Papenhuyzen .
When we had the big 4 , we decided not to pay Tapuau , had guys like Curtis Sironen and Moses they were bigger than the club ,Simona fixing games etc. The culture was a joke , IMO created by not only by the power vacuum when benji left and sheens got booted , but by the young kids watching that power and entitlement run through the club to begin with .
Hopefully the last 9 years has made us realise ,yes we have lost the tigers identity . But returning it to the boys club , isn’t good either . It has to sit somewhere between accountability , and freedom to do what you want .
From the outside looking in , the issue is we swung the pendulum from one side to the Complete other , and we have spent 9 years putting square pegs in round holes .

It’s more than that though . It’s literally the kids coming through being empowered , but not really understanding the reason behind the empowerment . Which is where the club failed IMO.
They empowered them without instilling the work ethic and desire to be individually great . IMO teddy did have this . He looked around and realised he was Robinson Crusoe at the tigers , shipwrecked by himself .

We've been shit for 10 years. There's not much further backwards to go.
Seriously wouldn't have minded a couple of wooden spoons. Would have been some wholesale changes then instead of just papering over the shit

Benji and Robbie were inconsistent players that weren't good enough to lead teams to consistent success with the players they had around them. Sure they were great players but they weren't in the same league as players like Johns or Cameron Smith.

You need to have a really good squad and you need to execute consistently well over the course of the season but especially in the finals series. You also need luck with injuries.

Singling out any specific player as being the problem to me comes across as being way too simplistic.

I don't see it as this simplistic. You need to build a better squad. I don't think getting the spoon helps at all.

I don't think we just paper over issues either. The problem is recruitment and retention but that is the Rorters forte. I don't believe the Rorters are so much better managed than us. They just rort the cap better than us. I bet heaps of clubs do it as well. I've suggested for ages the way for us to get ahead is for us to rort the cap more. We do it and we under the cap and we get caught.

Maybe he is a defensive guru but I've never seen a coach turn ordinary players into great players. I don't think that will ever happen.

Can I ask a serious question ? What’s the point for guys like you being so into something , that clearly makes you miserable ? Those 3 messages have no glimmer of hope , no optimism, no reason to keep watching , at all .
And the deflecting response will be “well how can you have hope 10 years etc . “ but you’d be missing my point . Why ?
Im hopeful for this year . My expectations are low , so I’ll be watching with minimal investment , as opposed to most previous years .
But that’s a good thing . It will mean my family won’t have to see me chuck the remote at the wall , or scream at a black box with pictures on it .
I don’t see that in your posts . I see perpetual negatives , that make me ask why bother ?
Is it more the echo chamber , and group think of places like discord ? Which I notice every time someone who is clearly apart of that boys club is questioned or called out , it’s then follows by 3 or 4 guys ripping into the person who called them out . I keep saying this by the way , because every 2-4 weeks I have a look and the same stuff keeps repeating .
I find that whole way of thought to be mandarin to me . Completely unintelligible.

This is the most over-repeated and ne'er-referenced trope in the game.

At what point did Madge declare 'I'm a defensively-minded coach'?

And conversely, point me to a coach who isn't 'defensively-minded'.

It's garbage and a lazy take.

Agree with this one, Benji and Farah were at their peak and carried us during those years. Lui is probably no better than Brooks but those two were out of this world good. Plus Lawrence pre hip injury...Ellis were very handy aswell

Devo we couldn't win another trophy those years
