Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

I see where you're coming from .. he didn't make the 13 this week but relegated to bench.
He's been one of their best in recent years.

I wouldn't look to much into Robbo's selections right now.
He does that often to balance out the roster and minutes.
Can't seem him leaving the Roosters anytime soon they need him.

And he cannot extract 'said' performance out of those players because of the lingering effects of such "poor" culture. If all you wanted were definitions then you should perhaps ask directly next time or even just use the dictionary; because you come across as a total knob?

Honestly, your theory is the players suck… genius

I’m pretty comfortable in my belief we’ll never move to Perth. There’s never been any hint of it, only a few chicken little supporters claiming it’s on the cards without any evidence.
Like this bloke I’ve mentioned several times ^

The common quote is that culture is what you do when nobody is looking. Colloquially culture to me has been the values and beliefs held by the collective. The standards that are set without a whiteboard, its a simple as making sure you get to the line during a fitness session or as complex as the level of belonging a team member feels under times of personal distress. But the evidence of culture is in the expectations the group has of themselves. Ours has been awful for years Nofa cracking the shits for being held accountable for rocking up to training hungover, players lamenting training intensity at sponsor events earlier this year, Moses Suli thinking its appropriate to sleep in his car during sessions, even Roberts and Laurie not understanding the optics of visiting licensed venues before a game (these are just obvious things off the top of my head).

Culture is everything you do, are you engaged in the directive of the community you belong to? Do you hold yourself to higher standards or to the bare minimum? Do you display alignment to the process your community is undertaking? Do you feel valued by your community? Do you care about how your community views you as a collective or only in terms of you as an individual?

Its been a long time since I've felt that the office, football team, fans and community was willing to do the extras required to be successful at the higher level. For me the values and beliefs I see is selfish and self serving, when Joel Caine came out and said two players had complained publicly about how hard training was, my first thought was Brooks and Noffa. My guess could be way off but my perception was of two people that had existed in a culture of self interest and minimal accountability for a long time. Our culture will improve when people are doing things for more than opportunity and a dollar.
I’m fairly sure that the quote you’re referring to in the first sentence is used to describe integrity…

I could be wrong but doubt it

Isn't the basic metaphor for a poor corporate culture this

Think of a plant in a toxic environment; the plant will fail to thrive and will ultimately die.

It prevents employees from thriving, it won't kill them but it will prevent them from realising their full potential. It could be policies or procedures at fault including interestingly outdated work procedures

Big Russ must've thought he was a lemon tree when he urinated on himself.

Yes it would be TieDye. The culture of an organisation is made of two things..the behaviour of each individual and the perceived behaviours of the organisation. I say perceived because apart from policies and procedures it’s mostly a perception of individual behaviours.
Recognising good culture or bad culture is based on recognising behaviours which are repeated otherwise you can’t pin them to culture driven behaviours.
An example of good culture and high morale could be “increased discretionary effort” when a team member does more than is expected of them.
An example of poor culture or low morale could be “dumb obedience”. This is when a team member follows instructions but sabotages it’s success. Such as .. coach tells Brooks to short pass to Garner instead of going wide. Brooks passes to Garner but with such force as to cause the play to break down. That’s just an example, not saying it actually has happened.
I think the question on Madge’s mind would be how do we return to playing like that first 40min?

Yes. I’d bet we're more like a corporate foetus though.

Wests Tigers are the perfect cautionary tale of organisational mismanagement and its easy to grasp how interwoven culture and brand are but moreso that we've been unfit/incompetent for all purposes and goals - in the last decade.

Wouldn't know the first thing about governing a sporting organisation, devising and implementing a strategic plan or rectifying the underlying problems of WTs. But I don't think our historical culture issues are relevant to our current predicament tbh however it is rather important how the club uses it to their advantage, to show they've learned from these failures.
Our biggest blunders for mine are: we not only failed to back up on our success but the ability to deliver on all promises. We've also responded poorly to environmental factors (internal and external factors, impacting all operations) and ultimately are currently unable to go up against all competitors (in recruitment and on the field). We basically havent been capitalising on our capabilities and strengths which is reflected throughout the whole club.

I also think our problem has always lied with our identity and its why success is important. We're unable to grow and evolve reasonably and need to determine what we stand for, as a club but what's dynamic to us. So not protecting our brand has been the most detrimental mistake for us.
I believe we've turned the corner, but we're so far behind the 8 ball it's not funny.
It's honestly like watching a Men's 4x 100m Relay in the Olympics with our participants being 1 national sprint champion, 2 persons who've won all local three-legged races at the local fairs/fetes/gala days and an undisputed egg and spoon race champion. It's as simple as getting the right persons to do the job IMO.

Been a while since we've had a sprint champion.
More like 1 guy with a hammer and 3 others in a wheelchair.

No point increasing your offers. He's staying
He's been living in NQ for 3yrs now, has family in Cairns I think. He's comfortable, I don't see him leaving. They'll probably offload McLean which will probably free up enough cap space.
Ok so he hasn't started negotiations with any club yet, and you're saying for sure that something is happening. Laughable.
Other clubs can and will double the money the cows can offer him. He has no real ties to the area. They've already spent Maclean's money on Luciano. This story is just beginning now that he's going to open to negotations given he's put a few runs on the board this season to up any offers.
