Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Sheen's did not panic he just wanted to complete with the bigger clubs and try to win the title and knew he could not compete with the TPA's he rolled the dice and should have won in 2010 and could have in 2011 good on him for having the stones to do it

And don't blame him for 2014 onwards because alot of contacts was renewed under Potter and the board went over Potters head head to sign massive contacts
However you describe it, the cap was a mess for years and that was the turning point.

Not sure Liam Martin would be as good away from the Panthers. I see them similar to Melbourne, you have to be wary signing players from there because they're in a great system and full of confidence.

He'd still be good, but I don't think he's worth 700k to a struggling club.
I agree.

One thing bout martin he adds alot of sting defence .puts a good hit on when needed .750k tho .

If you are aware of his background and how is mother used to drive him from Temora to training at the Panthers you get a feel for his determination to succeed. His impact on a game is far greater imo than Chrichton, he hits in defence but he runs the ball very hard. I'd suggest he is exactly the type of player we need and if it takes that to drag him away from the Panthers, so be it. Luke Lewis Mk11.

If we miss somehow miss out on Kade Dykes, we should go hard for Sunia Turuva from Panthers (Development player). He is carving up NSW Cup as much as Dykes is & provides options for Fullback/Wing/Centre. Cousin of Api Korisau. Speed, skill & agility, just a bit on the smaller size (not much though). Watch Luke Lewis' video on nswrl.com.au this week for his take.

Also if we miss Angus Crichton, we should go hard Matt Doorey asap if he passes medical. Kid was hailed as a future star on the edge, junior rep player, played with Tommy Talau & Rua Ng at Westfields under Lambkin. It's a risk and reward proposition but options are running out.

Why not both?

You overpay for players like Angus
Maybe a little, but we cant break or model. Make it a factor of the model (i.e. Marque bonus). We also need to be conscious of Papalihi who we got for an amazing price. It could create an issue if we're not careful. The original comment was about recently missed signings though. There was none I would overpay for.

wants a silly amount of money, you tell him "no thanks" and walk away from the deal. And you negotiate this way 100% of the time, so prospective players are aware of what they are dealing with. "You've gotta pay overs" is only said by clueless pundits or desperate fans who have no responsibility for or knowledge of the club's salary cap.

Gold.

Now that the Brit Nikora dust has settled , I'm happy the Tigers didn't Panic and pay massive overs for this guy.

Whilst he is good, he isn't the out and out gun 2nd rower that Papalii and Kickau are in that position.

Our Management are holding their Nerve in this Long Term rebuild.

On the right price Nikora would be perfect. We couldn't get him at the right price.

I was worried with the dollars being stated. I'd pay that much for Crichton or Martin. You'd pay those two more than Nikora.

I would say it’s 50/50 with Sharks coming to the table late, whole situation benefitting them ATM.

We definitely are still in the hunt but he’s not certain.
Dam, we just can’t seem to sign anyone good during the season. Hastings was the only exception last year but was a bit of a risk at the time.
