Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Given we are starting a new era (coaching, facilities, culture etc), I'd be identifying experienced players looking for a fresh start for whatever reason (i.e. current club has issues, player returning from injury, player with point to prove).

These players must exude professionalism in all aspects (training, game prep, values etc). Sheens did it before with the likes of Scott Sattler, Mick Buettner, Paul Whatuira, Shane Elford, Brett Hodgson, Scott Prince, Pat Richards.
I think at present they are looking at anyone who might be of NRL standard or is deemed to have potential and have come up with a big duck egg

Surely we have to explore PNG. Big strong and know only one way - forward. There must be a couple of players who can take some hit ups and tackle hard who would jump at the oppoortunity. One of the main reasons I was all for Flannagan due to his association

Lodge/Klem is who we should be aiming for not a washed up fifita.
Fifita is rinsed...

Pigeon toewed and skinny legged.
Surely everyone can see his body hasn't got much life left in the game, despite how well he MAY have played this year.

(I've missed a few sharks game but for the most part, catch almost every match - every round... and he hasn't been that good from what I've seen. Sharks are a fun club to watch though - nowadays)

Yeah... I'd have him.
People have their opinions on him, But he's the Forward Leader we need

Roosters signing him next year for 300k Says Weidler....
Every pack needs some mongrel.

Mitchell Barnett, Klemmer, Lodge...
All cut from the same cloth.

Types we should he looking at.

Should try for one of Lodge or Klemmer.

I that fails perhaps Tapau who is off contract.

What is this thing lots of you members have about Tim Sheens Age, He is 71, Wayne Bennett is 72, does this make them stupid, after all they dont have to play the game, they only need to know how its played, and these guys know the ins and outs of the game as they both played it in there younger days, if they gave you the job how do you think you would handle it,
And how old are you.
He is 71 AND been out of the NRL for a decade AND with no success in the Super League in that time. Bennett may be 72 but has never stopped coaching in the NRL and continued to be successful in that time. There is a clear difference between the two.
I'm 35 and would be a terrible head coach if given the opportunity.

It's just media dribble. Who here is on the coaching staff or one of the players ?

Facts matter. BS opinions are BS.

Plus it's a complete new team next year.
BS opinions matter, particularly if that one BS opinion is widespread. It influences further opinion and gives prospective recruits doubts about whether they want to be a part of the club.

I hope we strongly consider Fifita. Brings ...

1. Wests Tigers DNA
2. Impact of the bench for 20-25 mins/game (especially since we have long minute props like Offa, Pole, Twal & hopefully Stefano eventually long minute)
3. Experience & good D (98% tackle efficiency this season)
4. Very good off loader which we need & likely suit Sheens style
5. Someone to lead the young guys - has been through adversity so inspiring teammate.
6. Low cost for 1 year contract

But thought he had a falling out with Sheens when he left Club???

Negatives include..

1. Body isn't up to it... weak legs. Cooked knees.

2. Has an axe to grind with the club and has publicly trashed us before.

3. Not good for culture. Very self orientated and appears toxic.

4. Will probably get / be injured most of the time.

5. Doesn't have any longevity left in the game.
