Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

He signed with Melbourne mid season after he signed with us ......can still remember the arguments about whether he was a good enough defender on the WTF ......if memory serves someone at the helm was on holidays ....again .....Grant Mayer

Signed with the Storm before he'd played First Grade for us...
He was rated by us, But untested - and the Storm beat us to the punch.. They are your facts.
And it was Pascoe - Meyer was already gone... (More facts for you)

Koroibete (And quite a few of those other boys) Were never quite the same after their best mate (Mosese) Killed himself...
They all needed a change out of the club at that time.
- Much like the Panthers exodus after Ben Alexander in the 90's

One of the WT podcasts suggested last night that Ken Maumalo is being shopped around.

I personally think that's a big mistake. I've always appreciated his efforts, a lot of them on one leg. His runs coming out of our back 20 have been so important, his finishing, and ability in the air are all great assets. If the thought is to replace him with Staines, I feel like it could be a grave mistake.

Unsure of the legitimacy of the claim, but it's not one I think is a good move if true.

agreed, we are shopping the wrong winger around, Ken is better than Nof, unless Ken wants to leave after running around broken all year being one our best metre eaters and have people in forums like this blasting him every chance they get, he would be a starting winger in almost all top 8 sides, only other thing is if maybe we can get a swap deal for Dom Young or if there’s been some sort of verbal agreement then I can handle Ken being shopped.

It might be his decision... Sheens might be able to get a cushy gig in the ESL

In the order of must sale:

Nofoaluma,
Seyfarth
Brooks
We would need to subsidise Nofo is he left - no-one is taking on his full contract value. Is it really a good idea to be paying yet another player to be playing elsewhere?
Seyfarth would be on a small contract. We need to field 30. Would only shop him if we need the spot, otherwise there's no point.
Brooks...no comment. No point adding to the ongoing discussion

That was me, no inside info on that one, just something I saw mentioned online.

I love Kenny, one of our best players last year. knows how to find the line and played busted countless times, but...

Sheens likes speed. Maumalo doesn't possess any. it makes sense that he's being shopped.
The other issue of course is that fast wingers can cover defend as Staines did in the GF. Besides, a strong winger can also be a fast winger just like Koroibete. We need to address the chronic lack of pace in the backline.

Kenny didn't do much wrong last year and he was on one leg. In an ideal world we're moving Nofoaluma on first.
Sheens mentioned you get 7 chances to score during a game and you must convert 4 of those to win. Having wingers with genuine pace who can score from anywhere on the field maximises your chances. I've posted this before but watch at 3.16 - Sironen to Simona and then to Korobeite to score with non other than Thurston all over him. A brilliant try made possible through genuine pace in the centre and wing positions.

I agree that speed is key out wide (especially speed off the mark,) and we should definitely be gearing toward that. This being said, Ken works like a dog out of our own half, scored as many tries as his wing partner, and that's with Nofo having a clear benefit of playing six matches outside a much better outfit at Melbourne.

Nofoaluma should be moved on before Maumalo. The pack should be addressed before we start looking at our wingers too.
