Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

Did I read somewhere that Moses looks like joining us for 24 provided Brooks is still here?
The club might not extend Brooks until Moses signs so you never know.
Some are saying it's done but some are saying we have a meeting with him next week so that doesn't add up.
Anyone in the know know if this meeting has happened or happening?

IMO Moses coming back would be massive so fingers crossed 🤞

Some people are hard to please …. including Bateman we have 4 new signings who are either current/former international and/or state players.
Club has a solid recruitment, retention and coaching team with evident policy to improve the roster and on field performance.
Our Salary cap is in great shape in fact probably one of the best in available resourcing capacity.
Club is on the front foot in the players market targeting quality.
Our juniors are finally showing great promise for the future.
And some still need to find reasons for not being optimistic.

Great points plus the two new signings from Penrith won last year's Grand Final and Api has 3 Grand Final rings.

Papps also played in the Grand Final for Eels and played well for the Kiwis.

Klemmer has an impressive representative warp sheet and Bateman (if signed) also an impressive representative warp sheet for the English.

I think successful clubs have big named players, lack of injuries and juniors who can step up. Let's hope that is WT in 2023.

Stop making so much sense.

When are we able to claim the one club player dispensation for Brooks? And what is the dispensation out of interest?
Each club gets $188K allocated to long serving players of 8+ years. This amount is for all players combined, so if you have 1 player they get the full amount, 2 players $89K each, and so on. Currently we have Brooks and Nofoaluma who are eligible. Klemmer may be eligible too, although unsure on that.

This may all change once the new collective bargaining agreement is announced.

Look Benji has spoken to Moses multiple times within the past week.
Sheens & Benji will meet with Moses next week. Moses will also be given a tour of the COE.
As you know, tigers aren't the only club in the race, hence Bulldogs have also offered Moses a deal for 2024 - in which as I have been told their offer is slightly higher than what the tigers have offered. But we definitely are in for a good chance.
Moses won't be at Parramatta in 2024 though.

we currently can claim it as we have both nofo and Brooks who qualify, it is 170k off the total salary cap not one particular contract e.g. Brooks etc. That is my understanding

Fresh from John Batemen’s impending return to the NRL another Englishman is set to make a comeback to rugby league in Australia.

George Williams in on the radar of a host of clubs who have made it known they want to sign the ex-Raider for 2024. Williams, who still has two years left to run on his contract with Warrington, is known to be considering returning to the NRL after an acrimonious split with the Raiders midway through last year.

A number of NRL clubs are already circling after he impressed during his 18-month stint at Canberra. Williams shone for England during the tournament to beat out the likes of Nathan Cleary, Jahrome Hughes and Anthony Milford and claim the halfback spot in the World Cup team of the tournament.

Williams, 28, played just 28 games for the Raiders before his high profile exit.

Williams told Fox Sports this week that he would “never write off” an NRL return – blaming Covid-19 for part of the reason why he had to return home.

His potential NRL return was all the talk in the English camp in recent weeks.

So too was that of his former Canberra teammate in Bateman who is expected to join the Tigers’ growing formidable forward pack.

Bateman was telling his English teammates that he had put his house in Wigan on the market and his Australian partner had already returned home in preparation for his switch to the Tigers.

Tigers coach Tim Sheens confirmed talks with Bateman were ongoing. (DT)
