Ok a bit of lunch break research, here is who we should submit to Scott Fulton to investigate as an Outside Back recruit for 2024 lol

Must be experienced, team first ethos & effort, good defence & solid in attack (even better if possesses speed & ability to create and take high balls).

1 - Phillip Sami (ticks all boxes above but on contract for another season so would need some shrewd negotation, can cover wing too)
2 - Isaiah Tass (as above but Wighton's signing may give us a negotiation tactic)
3 - Zac Lomax (as above, lacks speed though)
4 - Brad Parker (is off contract, Manly junior so if they offer an extension may want to stay, also lacks speed but exudes effort)

And I reckon our 5/8 utility / #14 recruit should come down to:

1 - Connor Tracey (some light reading here)

2 - Te Maire Martin (Benji quoted in 2016: "I watched him come through the Tigers system in the under-20s and from the time he came in he was just phenomenal. He's got great footwork, a great ability to see the game and you can see by his body shape that he's got a lot of growing to do. As a half, seeing a young half come in and have that impact on a first-grade game first-up is pretty impressive."

3 - Blake Taafe

4 - Jayden Sullivan (worried about his chronic hamstring injuries)

He made 30 runs for 230 meters and I reckon 25 of those runs were coming off there goal line taking tough carries - he also scored a try, had 5 tackle breaks and assisted the winning one. I would disagree he was average.

I hate that it was against us but that flick pass was no accident or luck he's been doing flick passes like that consistently - let's not also ignore the fact he broke like 3 tackles and attracted the defenders before the pass itself.

I'm a big advocate for Lomax due to his character off-field and his ability at the age of 23. We also need a goal kicker desperately as Wakeham won't play much FG and if Lomax was kicking our goals and Wakeham was kicking Dragons goals.... well we'd have won that match. That's how important a goal kicker can be.

He really was no threat all night. 230 metres from 30 hit ups? It’s 7 metres a run. No line breaks. His try was from a kick. Never threatened us. Junior Tupou ran 17 times for 221 metres…7 tackle breaks. 4 line breaks. 2 tries. Stats don’t tell the full story.

He would be a poor signing for the money he is asking.

There was a rumour circulating about his attitude because I learnt of it from friends in the Illawarra, I mentioned he is a professional and one of three including Hunt to attend the award night. Lomax dealt with a pretty tough personal issue which would impact most. He'd be great for WTs.

Just a query- from the currently signed players- either at club or incoming for next season- who are the players that have good goal kicking ability. I know Wakeham can kick but I just cant see that he will be a regular in the starting 17.

Rothfield reporting Tigers are the favourites to sign Jayden Sullivan for next season.

Depending on price, I think he's a great option as a bench utility/back-up half, but not as a first-choice starter.

He's a good player and I'd be pleased to have him at WTs.

Lomax is quality. If available, he's valuable to nearly every team. If not available, or out of our price range, Alamoti from the Dogs.

Sullivan would instantly become the #1 back-up 7/6. And probably the future 7. He's quality, but unfinished. A genuine attacker. If you like how Sam Walker plays, and not concerned about defence, then Sullivan is the more budget option I'd say. I like Sullivan. I like all 3 of the Dragons young spine players.

I hope you're right. Fitzgibbon seems to value keeping his squad together. I guess that is possible when you can buy top liners and also produce good young players.

I wouldnt mind that to be fair, probably a Laurie replacement gives us another option is Sezer is gash and also gives Latu time to bed in. Astute signing if we get it done.

I raised him as Rabbits may need to release someone with the incoming Wighton. He may be seen as surplus to requirements & he warrants 1st 13 selection.

Even if Tass gets pushed out, he'll have a lot of options and we would be at the very bottom of his list. Unless we made him an offer too good to refuse.

No. Players salaries are paid out of the cap which is 100% provided by the NRL.

I really like both Sullivan and Lomax. Would be stoked if we got one or even both of them. We may even be able to pick them up at a discounted rate.

If the report is accurate that he's on 500k (WTF!) then no way. Also not sure how many 5/8's we need for next season, currently we will have Fainu, Doueihi and possibly even Galvin in our top 30 as 5/8. Given we'd have Api and TDS in our top 30 too, and possibly still one of Rua/Simpkin we don't need a 5/8-hooker utility. We need either a an organising halfback, or a fullback-5/8 utility.
Say we have Sezer as 7 next year and he gets injured in round one, who would replace him? We need another organising halfback in our top 30 (another reason why i wouldn't have Galvin in our top 30 under any circumstances, a development contract instead)

That is true Sullivan would be a decent get and could probably be the future 7 all he has to do is outplay Sezer, he probably back himself there.
I know Wakeham cops a lot of stick but people have got to look at what he was brought here for he's a back up. If your back up is playing most of the season then theres a fair chance your halves have had major issues, not ideal for any team.
Wakeham has limitations always has but he's performed well above his pay grade, as a matter of fact if he had similar speed to Brooks there would be a cigarette paper between them ability wise.

Well, yes. But Wakeham is on minimum wage, while I doubt Sillivan would come here for cheap.

Not sure what his best position is, 5/8 or back up - but he won't be coming here for backup or at backup price.

Unless Laurie is leaving, this would be a weird signing.
