He is the ONLY second rower in the NRL that does not run on to the ball hard whether they receive the ball or be used as a genuine decoy.
Out attack stifles whenever the ball goes his way due to this.
Papali’i at least runs the ball hard, I cannot believe anyone could think Bateman has been better than him.
Klemmer was certainly disappointing against the Rabbitohs and his impact has been in decline since he played great against the Cowboys at Leichhardt, but I think he’s done enough to be given the benefit of the doubt and hope he rediscovers his best for next season.
I think Stefano has been good without being brilliant. He’s still only 23y.o so his best years should be approaching,

I think Bateman was a bit of a name signing as much as what he offered on the field, and apparently he trains hard. Hopefully with a more settled offseason he can produce better on the field.

He’s always been small for a forward, but not so long ago when in his prime playing for the Raiders he was quick for a forward, always ran the ball hard and backed up his aggressive nature by hitting hard in defence.
I haven’t seen these traits since about round 5 or 6.

Take a look at the attacking threat the Gold Coast have and it’s largely due to their flying winger.
Bevan French or Xavier Savage on one wing would give us something similar,
We need a big body such as Junior Tupou on the other wing and I think Charlie Staines could transition into a very good centre.
To’a will do me to remain as our other centre.

They have only won 7 games these past two years… so most are going to have a worse record than his 25 percent win rate…

They were an even worse team without him last year …didn’t win a game

His contract was actually low for a starting half…Around $400k per year for 2 years I believe

Im sure Api was purchased this season to turn around the team as well…that hasn’t worked either … but I hope they don’t move on from him this offseason…

I was reading claims before last season started that he would lead us to the 8. And the same expectations are going to be put on Seizer if/when he signs. Yet we will again only win 7/8 games tops.
