Signings, Suggestions & Rumours Discussion

He would be a massive get but a bit unrealistic
considering he's still pretty young and only
just got considered/selected for the all blacks
he's a gun though. I was hoping that Benji would
sign Julian 'the bus' Savea for a couple years
(à la Tuqiri) before he signed with Moana Pasifika!
Shaun Stevenson just re-signed with NZRU.

Ironically, like Alex Twal.
Twal plays as a middle forward, Curran plays on on the right edge.
Twal as much as I like him, doesn’t often threaten to make line breaks, Curran threatens to make line breaks a couple of times every game and that’s in limited minutes coming off the bench.
If we want to make life easier for our young playmakers, having someone who runs a hard line on the edge like Curran does will simplify their game.

You can not rate him which is fine but I’m gonna have to disagree. I reckon he makes every top 8 side as the under the radar worker. He is way unders at 250 and would be insulting to put that to him. Cap is 12.1 mil next year is it not?

Well…. no one wants him at $525k as we have just seen … so what’s your value?

I would rate a bench player at $400k… but I dont want him past next year as a bench player

We keep hearing there is so much young talent coming through … so let’s see some playing in the Top 17….

$250 k is what NSW Cup level players get paid … probably the high end

Interesting how quickly Curran fell out of favour.
Gotta say though his combinations with SJ was pretty good I thought this season.
The sort of player that goes beyond and has impact in the small roles a player would typically have to do. Always rated him - Interesting to see where he ends up.
Splash some cash Benji.

It’s not surprising. He was shunned to the mostly this year. Wasn’t much of a factor for them.

It's quite probable we're just playing hardball with any potential suitors for Twal. They didn't want to pay full freight, we won't pay for him to play elsewhere, either they up their bids or he plays out his contract.

The fact he's on 525k next year is a serious indictment on the club's management and recruitment failures.

And frankly significantly overpaying Bula is disappointing too. He definitely warranted an upgrade but next year he'll be earning more than the like of Walsh and Edwards ever have. How will he go in his second year? Can he maintain performance and fitness year in and out? The fact he could potentially earn 900k in the last year of his contract is ludicrous. We got absolutely taken to the cleaners by his agent.

I think 500k for next year would have been more than sufficient. With pay rises each year culminating in 700k for his 4th season. That would be market value, sadly once again we're paying the Tigers tax, way overs....

The new Salary cap just increased 30% though with major increases coming each year over the next few years. That's got to be taken into account

Roughly an hour ago there was a elderly fellow who regularly calls 2sm, he mentioned how silly wests tigers are no idea what they're doing and allowing a Jersey Fleg 17 yo captain to sign with the rooster's, does anyone know who the player is ???

Twal‘s $525k is an over payment sure,,. But not even in the same solar system as the likes of McQueen, Packer,Reynolds, Matulino and Nofo…

I’ll judge Bula’s value for money down the road …I can’t see the future ..

he was on the books this year for $125K so the Club is in front so far
