"Writers room" is a stretch. Pretty sure the bloke quoted himself in the headline. He has one of the best resumes out of any half to come on the market in the last 5/10 years.
We actually have the money and space to go hard after him.
He is in an area of long-term need.
We're a realistic option for him, whether it's financially, geographically or connection-wise (Api).
The cognitive dissonance in that writer's room is as impressive as it is embarrassing.
Or a three-way trade ...Swap Papali’i for AFB
Sign Olakau’atu for 2025
Fainu’s, Olakau’atu, Suli and AFB are all close friends.
This would be the best way to guarantee not playing finals for another half decade. We already have too many long-term contracts for "established players" on the books that are going to reduce our cap flexibility just as some of the young guys start needing to be renewed: Bateman, Nofoaluma and Klemmer are all players that well run clubs would be trying to replace from within using their own talent on minimal wages, instead of paying for years past their use-by dates. Adding a bunch of additional mid-range first graders on 3-4 year deals would be absolute suicide for the Tigers.Yep - buy established players. Not potential.
Why on earth would either Manly or the Warriors do this? Manly, a club widely understood to be under cap pressure, has to work out how to accommodate the highest paid prop in the game. The Warriors replace their best middle forward, who may want to leave but is still under contract, with a wildly underperforming player who plays a position in which they have a production line of young talent, and the Tigers... get to dump a crap contract in return for getting one of the most promising players in the game? That. Isn't. How. This. Works.Or a three-way trade ...
Ice to Warriors
AFB back to Manly (especially with Keppie & mower man possibly on the way out)
Haumole to Tigers
Only way letting Ice go is ok is if we’re getting a suitable replacement. AFB is a great Prop and would take him, but Ice is one of our best backrowers we do not have a replacement for him. Blore, Seyfarth and whoever else we have aren’t up to it to cover him. We currently can’t afford to lose Ice given we’ve got no one to cover him.The Warriors will not release AFB without receiving a player or players in return that they believe to be suitable compensation.
So regardless if the Roosters or whoever else want AFB, they won’t be getting him unless they have a suitable player or players to trade to the Warriors in return.
Common sense tells me that there are no genuine props any other club could provide the Warriors as suitable compensation for AFB, therefore a player they have long been rumoured to want is Isaiah Papali’i.
In a perfect world we don’t want to lose Ice ourselves, but if it meant we gain an enforcer we have long been needing, I think the trade would be worthwhile.
It’s a possibility big Stef could transition into an edge back rower, he’d be hard to stop one on one wide of the ruck.
The best front rower in the comp for a couple bench props that scrape into the wooden spooners 17? We can all dreamMakes them cheaper per annum and easier to offload.
I think anyone would let Twal go for the best front rower in the comp mate, but I’m sure warriors will want better then that...We also extended Joffa then released him 6 months later. If we could do it to him we could do it with Twal and Seyfarth. Although I remember Seyfarth turned down Warriors at the beginning of the year. Twal I would let go for AFB. Ice we can’t unless we’re getting a suitable replacement.
To other clubs. No point trying it on Luai. Who cares if you doubt your value if the big offers are rolling in? The only viable plan is to try and reduce the value of rival offers and the difference between their and your offers. To other clubs?
Or to Luai, himself?
#know your worth 😂
In a game where there is a shortage of halves... I don't think anyones falling for that Ivan.
And matt balin.Josh Reynolds, Russell Packer, Chris McQueen, Ben Mataulino, Moses Mbye....
But he sucks!?Suli offered 3 year extension with dragons
Ivan the snake. To other clubs. No point trying it on Luai. Who cares if you doubt your value if the big offers are rolling in? The only viable plan is to try and reduce the value of rival offers and the difference between their and your offers.
I don’t think they would take Sam Fainu they are just basing it on potential if they did. Ice while they might consider it it also severely weakens us. We can’t swap Ice for AFB unless we have someone that replaces Ice. The only one that would work is Haumole, but that’s unlikely.I think anyone would let Twal go for the best front rower in the comp mate, but I’m sure warriors will want better then that...
The only kind of realistic thing would be Ice and Sam Fainu plays starting 2nd row
No trade.Or a three-way trade ...
Ice to Warriors
AFB back to Manly (especially with Keppie & mower man possibly on the way out)
Haumole to Tigers
Our 30 is full though for 24 so we have to do something. Although Ice is off limits since we don’t have anyone to cover him.No trade.
Keep Ice and add AFB to the Tigers
Waqa Blake? If that’s who you’re referring to he’s not. He’s managed by Ultra management so possibly one of the Ayoub bros manage him.Is Blake managed by issac Moses?
